While the facility might not be supermax, some of the guys housed there can get pretty violent. I was one of the guys that handled "high risk" transports (escape risks, violent inmate and "mentally disordered Offenders" to either "M" Treatment Center, Eastern State. Interesting bunch is all I'll say.  Lips Sealed

I know this sounds messed up, but the mix doesn't really bother me... that will probably be my undoing one day. I cut my teeth in mental health on an adult admissions unit and honestly the hospital psyche unit was more chaotic and unpredictable in many ways. Again, this comfort level I have with it is probably not good for me.
I think the thing that helps is that while I'm in there I can get a good visual of what the cells are like, what the set up is like, and this particular facility is a lower population facility, more specialized to handle the psychotic offender population... which is somewhat comparable to what may be best for the super prison. This is naturally something that I'm open for suggestions.... larger populations, including general population housing... or more isolated, secure, and specialized?

Since I come from the security side of the house, I'd suggest smaller populations for super prisons, as their custody level would dictate a higher staff to inmate ratio. I can't see powered villains being put into the mix at a regular prison. None powered inmates would end up serving high security prisons.

I've got a thread around floating around with my take on super prisons, as well as one where I started working out the details on possible prison for use in a V&V game (The Stone Mountain Correctional Center). Take look and let me know what you think of it so far.

Here's the link for Stone Mountain - Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register I'll have to dig around for the one I did up on super prisons in general. If I can't find it, I'll just repost the info.

Again, nice work there. We're going to have a few different approaches here and there on some elements, but variety is always a good thing! After all, prisoners get transferred from one facility to another for a wide variety of reasons...

So there's a couple of you in VA; very cool!   Smiley

Back in the day, I used to be flown out to VA (Norfolk) every once in a while for gaming stuff (I was very involved as a volunteer with a gaming company called Decipher).

Maybe the two of you can carpool when you come out this way (WA state) for our annual GuardianCon (which has tons of V&V played).   Smiley

We're looking forward to it.  Can you imagine, if all of the fine V&V folks made it one day?  We've toyed with the idea of paying for Jeff Dee's way (flight and hotel), and we already have at least one V&V session running at all times (Thursday night to Sunday mid-day).  Numerous forumites from Justice (Chicagoland) to as far away as Canada (Stephane) to Sweden have made it before.

This year is going to be our 8th one, and they keep getting better!   Smiley

I graduated in Norfolk! (ODU)... well, actually I went to college at one of ODU's sattelite schools, but I graduated up there.

Not sure if I could make it up in the next couple with my grad school schedule but it may be a possibility... although that business trip I had in Texas several years ago taught me the virtues of flying, especially if the travel is going to take more than a day's worth (when you consider the cost of gas, food, staying at motel or two during the course of the drive), etc...... being the cheap sort of person I am, I'll opt for a seat in the cargo cabin!
