Lt James Kelly spent forty years in Leavenworth for the crime of killing and eating his entire platoon. Of course, he says he didn't do it. He says his men where killed saving the world from a being he calls the "King in Yellow." He claims that he stumbled upon an undiscovered temple in the jungle. A clockwork tower, hidden from the word, and protected by a band of zealot cultists, opens once every forty years. It's singular occupant, the skeletal King in Yellow, emerges to feast. Unfortunately for Lt Kelly, his men were the main course. Kelly claimed that grenades and automatic rifle fire were enough to prevent the creature from fully emerging from its prison. When he made it back to his commander, his wild look and even wilder tale, got him a speedy trial and lifelong incarceration. Doctors pronounced him a paranoid schizophrenic, and the tabloids called him "Lt Cannibal Kelly." In 1999, B13 Agents Spartan and Oni went to visit Lt Kelly. After a telepathic confirmation of his story by Special Agent Nexus, the duo found themselves deep in the Laosian Jungles. They were ambushed by six Yellow Cultists who were easy to dispatch. The second attack was not so easy.
Spartan and Oni found themselves facing a 12 foot tall animated granite Buddha statue. A frantic battle ensued. Spartan's mastery of the Bronze Energy and Oni's steadfast force of mind proved to be stronger than stone. Exhausted, the duo lick their wounds and trudge on. After a brief rest, The Spartan and Oni were attacked by a squad of machine gun toting Laosian Temple Cultists. The Bronze Armour of The Spartan and the amber force of mind of the Oni proved to be stronger than the the lead bullets. Oni needed to sacrifice a bit of himself in order to rejuvenate his body. It was not much of a big deal now, but he can only do that so many times before he succumbs to darkness. A thick yellowish fog rolled in. The heroes could only see a few feet in front of them. This fog seemed to have a disruptive effect on their handheld GPSes. While examining their devices, the dead bodies of the Cultists attacked. In the infinite universe, there can only be a few worse things than being attacked by the newly reanimated corpses of your recently defeated Laosian Death Cultists foes. Fighting Zombies is more tiring then you would think. Exhausted, the duo rest again before heading deeper into the jungle. Finding the temple, they meet an old man. The man tells them that the King in Yellow is impressed that they made it so far, and that if they wish to die within the universes within the temple, they are not to be hindered. This seems to give the heroes a pause. No-name, the oni Oni defeated, bargains with the Spartan over some important information. In exchange for Grasscutter, No-name tells the Spartan that he should destroy the temple instead of entering it. Destroying the temple will sever the link between Carcosa and Earth. The Spartan uses the might of his Bronze Energy to reduce the evil temple to pebbles. Does the Spartan plan to honor his end of the bargain and retrieve Grasscutter and give it to No-name? And how does Yoshi/Oni feel about this? All this and more on the next episode of SOAP.
