The Elementals

If you guys haven't figured it out yet, I was HUGE fan of Bill Willingham's Elementals series. One thing I've always claimed I was going to get around to doing, was working out some stats for the various characters portrayed in the book (The Elementals, Thor, Cold Mary, Captain Cadaver, The Rapture, etc.), as I really enjoyed reading about them.

If, and when I get motivated, I'll be posting my take on them here. Beginning with my favorite group of would be Christian super heroes, The Rapture (portrayed on the cover below).

When I first saw this post, I thought "Cool - something about the Elementals", but then I looked again and thought it might be a spin you were making on them, in the form of eels.    Wink

FWIW, I'm a monster Elementals fan as well, and would be willing to help out with such a project.

Shoot, we should tackle an Elementals sourcebook for FGU; I doubt anyone's doing anything with the rights anymore.  Willingham's sold them away, and I used to have Comico's address in Chicago, but they and their president - Andrew Rev - seem to have fallen off the face of the earth.

Here's a couple of my favorite Elementals covers.

The two issues showcase a couple of characters that I really like Thor & Ghost Girl/The Haunting. As far as power sets go, I'd give Thor the following:

Thor

Identity: Thor
Side: Good/Elementals
Sex: Male
Age: Immortal
Level: 18
Training: Accuracy

Powers:
1. Heightened Strength 30: +30.
2. Heightened Endurance 25: +25.
3. Invulnerability: 25 points.
4. Flight: 2,000 mph max flight speed. PR=1 per hour.
5. Adaptation: PR=1 per hour.
6. Regeneration:
7. Special Weapon: Thor's Hammer: +4 to hit, HTH+1d12 damage.
a) Lightning Control: 2d8 damage.
b) Dimensional Travel: Thor can use his hammer to summon a "Rainbow Bridge" that allows him to travel between various dimensions.

S: 50
E: 40
A: 18
I: 14
C: 20

Weight: 210
Basic Hits: 5
Carrying Cap: 13,545 lbs.
Basic HTH:

Notes: Thor is tough, very tough as his strength, invulnerability, and adaptation allow him to stand up to a lot of damage.

The Haunting

Identity: Janet Brown
Aliases: Ghost Girl
Side: Good/Strikeforce America
Sex: Female
Age: Immortal
Level: 3
Training: Accuracy

Powers:
1. Non-Corporalness: PR=4 per hour.
2. Flight: PR=1 per hour
3. Illusions A: Visual, Audible.
4. Emotion Control: Fear: Linked to her Illusion powers.
5. Invisibility: PR=1 per hour.
6. Regeneration:

Origin/Background: Janet Brown was born January 31st, 1898. She lived an uneventful life and became a librarian Wichita, Kansas. In 1929 she came to the notice of the sorcerer Saker, who realized she possessed a great amount of darkforce. He killed her and performed rituals on her body because he was curious about what powers should would manifest, but was disappointed by her abilities and found her too difficult to control. He placed her in storage in his headquarters on Nacht Island where she stayed until the U.S. government took the island in 1984.

She was recruited into Strikeforce America alongside Commander Chaos, Kid Chaos, Jumpstart, Skyscraper, Doctor Thunder and Microman.

Notes: The Haunting is an actual ghost, with the ability to  turn invisible and create realistic illusions. The illusions are so horrifying that her victims literally want to rip their eyes out.

Awesome stuff.  I followed Elementals but with the erractic publishing schedule I missed the Rapture and Oblivian War completely.

No problems, if anything I hope you catch any other mistakes I've made.

Cool,  I make plenty of typos and no I won't fix things in the meat of the thread, but in the title,  the stickler in me had to.   But from now on, I wont do something like that unless I ask permission first.

Well I'm giving you standing permission to fix any spelling mistakes you catch.

Did you ever read Astro City's Confessions.  The Confessor and the Crossbreed are my favorite group of Christian Super Heroes.   I haven't read the story with the Rapture yet.

I have ordered it so in 2 weeks I will let you know how I think they compare.

Never read Astro City (I know, I know), so I really can't answer. And as far as The Rapture goes, they're portrayed as right wing, Christian fundamentalist, but they're still a pretty cool group, despite that.

I like this Thor better than the one at Marvel.  Smiley

But the woman in red looks too much like the Scarlet Witch.  Undecided

I made a couple of minor updates to the characters I've posted so far. I'll get around to adding more members of the Rapture over the weekend.
