The New Millennium Universe

The New Millennium Universe is a campaign I started working on back in the late 1980's and slowly developed over the years. I'd put it on the back burner, and work on it when the mood hit me. The intention was to develop an entire campaign setting, and eventually get around to doing up a PDF for ese of use. As I got back into gaming, and more importantly, started playing V&V again, I started to flesh out some of the stuff I'd let sit for a while, as well as developing a few new ideas. I also incorporated a few characters that I'd played around with on various message boards. I've slowly been posting info on the various denizens of the world, and figured I'd create a thread to make it easier to find info on them.

The campaign world is a four color modern world, with elements of both modern and silver age mixed in. Superheroes have existed since the late 30s, with their numbers steadily increasing since their first appearance. The primary hero group, is The Guardians, they're my Avengers/JLA type team, with the Young Guardians, my teen hero group, acting as backup (they're also used as a recruiting pool for the Guardians).

Tech wise, the world is similar to ours, but with a few modifications, the US, Canada, Japan, and the EU maintain, and co-fund a permanent space station, called Outreach, things like portable laser rifles, mecha,  FTL space travel, exist. The US, Russian, Japanese, and several other governments all have access to tech to produce things like force fields, power dampeners, powered armor, etc., but due to cost, and security concerns, the tech isn't available to the general public.

Interesting concept.

What do you mean by the term "four color modern world"?

For anyone who's actually reading this stuff, I'd really like to hear what you think of it. What do you think of the characters, their background, etc. Also, I've been playing around with "my history of the world" which I'll post here for your review.

By four color, I mean a "classic" comic book world. By modern, it incorporates modern ideas, and doesn't shy away from things like drugs, religion, sex, etc., but it doesn't dwell on grim, gritty realism.

Interestingly enough, we have a current PC group called the Guardians, and a former (hero) PC group that called itself the Foundry (for a different campaign).

I guess great minds think alike!    Cool

The Guardians seems to be a popular name for a hero group.

Piledriver

Identity: Ted Morris Ferguson
Side: Evil                Sex: Male
Age: 32                  Level: 3
Training: Strength

Powers:
1. Size Change: Larger (Permanent): Height Factor 1.5, Weight Factor 3.4
2. Heightened Strength (B): +22
3. Heightened Endurance (B): +14
4. Invulnerability: 16 points

Origin/Background: Ted was working bouncing around from one construction job to the next, not really going anywhere in life, when an accident on the site, activated his latent powers. Within days, his size had doubled,  his skin became incredibly dense, and his strength reached superhuman levels.

Not quite sure what to do with his new abilities, he went to work as an enforcer for a local mobster. Within months, he'd attracted the attention of a local hero group, who rounded him, and his employers up.

While incarcerated, he hooked up with several other villains, who schooled him in the supervillain business.Upon his release, he adopted the identity of Piledriver, and began hiring himself out as super-powered muscle for hire.

Combat Tactics/M.O.: Piledriver's size and strength give him a distinct advantage in HTH combat situations, so he'll try to close with his opponents and use his strength to its greatest advantage.

Personality/Character Traits: Piledriver isn't a violent person, but he does what he needs to to earn a check, and live the lifestyle he's accustomed to. In other words he's in it for the money, so if things look like they're taking a turn for the worse, he's out.

The Foundry is a neat addition to the world. It reminds me of a source book for Champions called The Blood & Dr. McQuark. I like a place where a character can get high tech stuff if he is not a super genius. Any chance there is something similar in Empire City?
