Upcoming V&V Releases

With all of the new material for V&V being announced, I figured there should be a topic where creators could come hype their upcoming projects.

Great idea.  I've got an adventure in the works, but I'll hold off on saying much about it until the dust settles a bit more.   Smiley

Great work, James!

Now go tell Scott (or somebody at FGU) to do some updating on their website!  Getting it so people can order the new product (without purchasing three of them) would be a great start!    Wink

When I looked at the FGU site, I had problems finding the module, but it says this is the pdf version, you just order multiple copies, and they send you the electronic version, and only charge you for one.  I bout CaCC the same way from them, and it worked fine.

Not sure what the deal with the uploads is...  good stuff AK... looking forward to it.

Very cool art!

But you might want to fix the typo "...coming to a new a V&V adventure near you"    Smiley

There's a number of minor typos in "Citizen Report" as well.  Might be wise to clean them up before a POD version gets printed up.

Hmmm....I might start an errata thread, so they know where to look.

Before the emergence of Monkey House Games, Jeff Dee said he was working on the equivalent of Most Wanted 2 for Living Legends. That's what I'd like to see--all the villains who were going to be in that volume. After that, the V&V version of Education in Terror and the mystical Living Legends module already in print.

On the FGU side of things, I can't wait to see the materials that AK has already hinted at!!!

Troy, from what I have been told, and I have no reason to believe that it's a lie, Jeff Dee has already been paid for and drawn and delivered the art for Most Wanted Vol. 2 to FGU, but has yet, although he's been paid, to deliver the manuscript so that it can publish.

That's the hold up on that.

Thanks for the info, AK. I wonder if the grievances Jeff Dee made here a few months back (quoted below), were why he didn't turn in the ms. It'd be great if he responds to your note (above) to clear things up about any money that exchanged hands. I'd also love to see any unpublished art Jeff Dee did from the classic 1980s.

Jeff Dee wrote on Apr 25th, 2010 at 10:42am:
Wow. You guys are still talking about this?

Here's the explanation.

1) The adventures published by FGU do not represent a single coherent continuity. Each individual author's adventures take place in their own private parallel world. None of it is "canon" as far as the core universe created by Jack Herman and myself is concerned.

2) Most Wanted was intended to be a series of books detailing villains from our core universe. Jack wrote MW1, and I was writing MW2.

3) FGU ceased to be a real company (no promotion, no convention appearances, no solicitation of distributors) before I finished MW2. I therefor stopped working on MW2.

4) MW3 was not supposed to be MW3. It does not contain any official information from the setting I shared with Jack. But FGU released it as MW3 anyway, without consulting us.

5) Why did FGU leave a "gap" for MW2? Because Scott Bizar is a lunatic. Despite his company dwindling to nothing, despite his refusal to relinquish the rights when he was no longer in any position to uphold his responsibilities as a publisher, and despite having insulted us creatively by releasing a book that craps all over our continuity, he still thought I would eventually finish MW2 and hand it over to him. He probably STILL believes that.

I am in the process of finishing up what would have been MW2 for release as a Living Legends book. No release date has been announced.

How about we take this to private messages, as it doesn't need to be debated in public.

AB, I hope I'm didn't offend you with my request, as that wasn't my intent. I'm hear to have fun, and discuss a game that I'm guessing everyone hear enjoys, or they wouldn't be here. I'm not hear to argue who did what, and who's in the wrong, as to be honest, that's really none of my business. All I want is to be able to purchase some new products for the first time in a very long time, and share them with my friends.

I just don't want to turn this place into a forum for guys to bash each other. If anyone has a beef, I'd much prefer to see it handled in private conversation, instead of on this site. If you think I'm out of line, I apologize, as I really want to see all of this get worked out. I just don't feel this is the place to do it.

John's the moderator of this section. I'm sure he'll pipe in about what is and isn't okay for the forum. You don't need to keep running interferance.

I know this is going to stir up things a bit but I don't think it is appropriate for someone who just joined the forum to be telling someone that has been here for a very long time what they can or can not do. I find it interesting that both you and Alabaster Knight keep lambasting Jeff for his actions on the forum when you both seem to be fans of a game he co-created. The only reason I can see for your FGU fanboy fanaticism is that you are both contributors to FGU and might feel threatened by Monkey House Games in some way? If that's not the case I apologize. But Dom has agreed to step off the soapbox, I have decided to not say anything negative against FGU in the future, perhaps the two of you could do the same in regards to MHG.

This a forum where Jeff said some pretty hurtful things and really was relatively new at that time. As forum members, we say cogent things about the vitality of our game.

I haven't said a negative thing about MHG other than they haven't clearly and legally established in a public place that they have the real legal publishing rights, those are different from copyrights and are dictated by a contract I have seen with their signatures on them.

I'll be done with this next release hopefully by the end of the week, and then I'll be starting the next project, The Neptune Line, an adventure for V&V.
(More unofficial universe)
This is a part of my livelyhood. I take it seriously for me, for you, for the game.

Guys, I'm not trying to stir things up. Like everyone else here, AK is a long time V&V fan, supporter, and now, creator. He loves the game, and wants to see it prosper. Contrary to what some of you may believe, he has no interest in seeing MHG hurt, nor does he want to see Jeff and Jack hurt, as he's admired their work, and would love to see them produce more material (He's keeping his fingers crossed for CHESS Source book, and so am I).

But as a creator, he has to make sure his interests are protected, and a long legal battle would impede him from creating new products, and possible hurt him financially. He's worried that if FGU and MHG get into a legal battle, he, and any other past, current, or future writer or artist will be caught in the middle, and that everyone involved, from the owners of both companies, to the creative staff, to the fans wile be hurt, and V&V will go down in flames.

So it's understandable that he's concerned. While he may express an opinion that differs from yours, it's still a valid point of view. So, how about cutting him a little slack? With that said, I'm dropping the subject, and getting back to discussing gaming.  Lips Sealed

I also want to add that there is no hostility between MHG and AK.  I'd welcome him to submit his work to us and, in fact, if he submits it directly to me, I'll make sure it bypasses the usual channels and gets special attention.

We will be going over the final layout this weekend, probably this afternoon; PDF release is usually within a few days after that, so maybe by Monday night! Don't quote me, but Woohoo!

Keeping fingers crossed, as I'm fiending for new stuff. It's just like a drug addict who'd been clean for decades, now that I've had a "hit", I'm craving more.

I haven't even had a chance to run most of the new stuff yet (as one of our GMs has multiple characters "stuck" in an apolcalyptic future), but I sure am looking forward to doing so!    Smiley

I have to admit, I am interested in Enter the Gene Pool. Perhaps FGU could be convinced to put these new releases on RPGNow.com with the old V&V stuff? It would make it possible for me to actually purchase them.

Allen, drop me a line, and I'll see about working something out with you, so you can get them. Also, Jack Herman's got something in the works, and once enter the Gene Pool gets released, AK's got another book in the works for FGU. It's looking to be a good year for V&V fans.

I don't at all want to stir everyone up and gets hopes up where they could be dashed, but this wasn't really a surprise to me when I read it.

That's because earlier Bill kind of hinted that the Destroyers from the module "Death Duel with the Destroyers" are different than the Destroyers as shown in the Elementals comic (and I completely agree that they are; one of the characters is completely different, for example).  He sold the rights of the comic Destroyers to Andrew Rev, the former president of Comico, but he still retains the rights to the V&V versions of the characters.    Wink

Speculate on that however you want to....    Smiley

Not to mention Stefan Jones asking questions on MHG's forums about the importance of detective work in an adventure then dropping hints that he is working on something as well!
