Hey, all you adventure writers out there. I just wanted to let you know that the guidelines for submitting adventures for Villains and Vigilantes are now up on the Monkey House Games website.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post here, at the Monkey House Games forum, or e-mail me personally at jack@monkeyhousegames.com

Very interesting! Also, some of it hasn't changed since Vigil. Great stuff.

I'll get information on the specific guidelines at FGU in case anyone is interested; I'm pretty sure there's a lot more liberal boundary.

What does that mean, more liberal boundary?

I think what he means is that the guidelines from FGU are somehow less strict and more flexible.
It also sounds like a shot at MHG.
If I'm wrong about that perception I wholeheartedly apologize.
If not...can you please refrain from shots like that as they tend to derail threads into arguments.

As for submissions. I'm curious as to artwork, maps and graphical layouts. Is the person submitting responsible for all of that or is that handled in tandem with the publisher? For example if I submitted a document would I have to include all relevant maps and art?
I imagine you have ample experience on this topic Alabaster, since you are published right? ( is the stuff you wrote available for purchase yet..I'm a bit out of the loop)

Authors should include any maps that their submissions require. But they don't need to be fancy; just detailed enough to guide whichever artist does the final version. Authors don't need to include art, but they're welcome to send sketches of the characters (again, as a guide to whoever does the final art).

Anyone wishing to be considered as an artist should send a link to their online portfolio to me: jeff@monkeyhousegames.com

It means that FGU doesn't have the same expectation as MHG for giving up your IP and owning it outright. After all, the whole reason any contributors to V&V have copyrights in their names is because FGU files the copyright on the creators' behalf...

Jeff pretty much hits it on the head here. An author should include maps to their adventures, the final artist will re-render them if necessary; for example, Ken Cliffe has done some very nice maps. Character sketches are not required, but sometimes provide the final artist with good interpretations of the author's vision.

Artists wishing to draw for FGU can send a portfolio to the address for contact in the web site. If you have the chops, you may be contacted, regardless of previous published work experience.

Thanks.
PS, no shots were taken, but if you took it that way, sorry for the perception. MHG's guidelines are more strict, and they have their reasons, I'm sure, no sleight on them.
FGU is looking for other game material too (Aftermath and Space Opera I'd say off hand).

Publishing for MHG, yes they are more restrictive, but the licensing agreement is more open, and doesn't require publishing through either MHG or FGU.

Since I helped create a standalone world that is already published by another company, yet I have some interest in converting it to V&V, licensing is the only option.
