Various commission art

so I've been commissioning a lot of art lately, since I have the funds. Figured I'd share some of the sketches and such I've gotten back so far.

First up, I just ordered five pieces from Joe Singleton on Sunday. Been wanting to work with him for some time. he got back to me with these quick pencil sketches the same day!

First up is Iron Maiden, a metallic skinned mercenary with sharp spikes coming out of her body:

Next is Elastico, a stretching villain:

Warder, who can create wards as well as a cloud of darkness:

Radion, whose body emits radiation:

and lastly, Manipulator, who controls a type of force projection:

Not bad for quick sketches based on some old artwork!

Another cool artist I've recently started to work with is Brian Brinlee. He's been doing characters for a group of German superhumans from WW2. Except for one member, they are not Nazis. They are more of the "public" team the Germans use, to make themselves not look as evil as we all know the Nazis are.

First up is Blitzkrieger (Lightning Warrior), who obviously commands electricity:

Hauptmann Zero (Captain Zero) was a tank officer who is chosen to wear an armored suit that gives him control over cold/ice:

Iron Raven was a Lufwaffe Pilot who know wears an armored flying suit that also has claws:

Yagermeister (Huntermaster) was a pre-war vigilante who uses a crossbow pistol to fight crime. Coerced into serving the Reich, he is the only member with a reputation as a real hero:

Zyklon (Cyclone) is the team's speedster:

My long time collaborator, Kris Smith, is working on some Ape-themed villains I created a few years ago, tied to the background of the hero American Ape.

First up is Simius, AA's brother. Having lost the competition that allowed his brother to become American Ape, Simius decided to conquer the world. Using some high tech gauntlets created by his people, he leads a group of super powered gorilla in his quest to rule the world:

The first to be enhanced by Simius, Brain Ape has various mental powers to go with his super genius intellect:

Ice Ape is a female Ape who was given Ice Powers by Simius:

Iron Ape obviously, has Iron Skin:

The last of Simius' super powered servants, Shape Ape can mold his body into other forms, as well as create weapons from his limbs:

Lastly, every world conqueror needs an army. While his isn't large, the ones who serve Simius are Gorillas armed with ray guns:

Richard Spake is another artist I've started to work with. He was hurt in an accident, and claims his artwork isn't as good as it used to be. I think what he does now is really good, so I hired him to do some pieces for me.

First up is a sketch for the mercenary Blaster, who found a ray gun and force field belt belonging to a Golden Age villain, and uses them as a high tech mercenary:

The Vigilante uses a prototype suit of armor developed for the military for urban combat. Along with an electrified tonfa, he now fights crime (but is far from a hero):

Lastly, a low-res colored image. This is my take on the Golden Age comic book hero Man of War:

Everything rocks except Vigilante needs a more signature look. Love Kris Smith stuff as always. Would love to get something done by him.

I love his work. He had a sale going so he could attend a comic convention. He had 20 slots. These were 5. He had 12 left, so I took them all to help him out. He's doing some stuff for DSumner right now too, and I think he said for something else V&V related. He also did some art for Supers! Revised, which should hopefully be coming out in a few weeks via Drivethru.

But yeah, I'm stoked to finally have a chance to hire him. These were all old characters from a game I was in (I didn't create them, but the person who did gave me his blessing to use them), which is why he did them so fast. I'm expecting more great stuff from him in the future, which I'll post here of course

Ok... I'm stunned.  I was ignoring this thread... not anymore!  Those are some truly awesome pics! VERY nice work!  Love T'al Z'agoth!  Gotta use that as a villain in some game! Smiley

Joe had never done something like this before, and he exceeded all my expectations. The full piece includes this great background of stars, as T'al is looking down on a world (it's next victim). Very Lovecraftian (which is the main influence for it)

Glad you liked him Majestic. Gotta let me know when he appears as I don't always follow the Guardian summaries like I used to.

I started working with another artist named Khairul Hisham. He did all the art for the rpg Invulnerable (another superhero rpg) whose author is a friend of mine.

I decided to have him do a new image for Glare. He may be dead in John's game, but in other realities, he's alive and kicking. Here is the sketch he sent for him:

When I created Glare, his backstory included that his father, the villainous industrialist Thomas Palond, had a second suit of armor made based on the original designs. Modified to be used for special ops, the armor is darker colored and such. The armor is work by Glare's also evil brother, Thomas Palond Jr. I didn't have a name for his armored identity, but now, in honor of an adventure John ran, he is currently known as Codename: Gloom:

Brian Brinlee sent me sketches for the last 3 members of that Golden Age German super team.

First up Aufseher (Overseer). The only Nazi member of the team, he was given a watered down version of the German Super Soldier process. He keeps an eye on his team mates, to make sure they don't betray the Reich:

Sigrdrifa, named after one of the Valkyries:

Ingvar, son of Freyr:
