Hey... found this forum, I have some martial arts students who have been gaming... I played a lot of V&V back in the 80s, and I'm considering gearing up a campaign.  Looks like a neat forum!  (Even if I had a tough time registering)

Hey, just checking, what was the problem with registration? Others have complained in the past so I'd like to look into fixing it, depending on the problem.  The captiva seems a little buggy at times.

Thanks!

I registered no problem, but I had to  "forgot password" because it wouldn't let me use the pre generated one.

Yeah that's the bug, I can't figure it out, but it only happens from time to time.

Bleh whatever you are in!

Those two things happened.  I had a huge problem getting the "right" captiva (it was insanely hard to read, and didn't give me a "try another" option) and then once I got that in and got the temp password, it didn't work.  I had to do the "forgot password" thing, and finally that worked.  Smiley

I'll tone down the captiva readability.  We had so many problems with bots and stuff that I had to turn that up.  It helped with the bot issue but causes havoc for "normal" registrants.

It's all good, I got it...but I was a motivated (I love V&V) human.  I know that less motivated people might have said "screw this."

I hate bots.  Smiley

Thanks for the welcome.  My guys are getting excited to give it a go.  They're completely inexperienced with the game, so I'm going to not let them see the rules or anything at any phase, so it's all kind of new and exciting to them, constantly.  Like they'll have no idea what other powers do, other than their (potentially wrong) preconceived notions from comics and movies.  WHEEE!

I just found the forum and joined. Had the same problem with registering, the generated password didn't work so I had to set a new one.

Anyway, glad to see there's such an active V&V community Smiley

Necron69, look forward to hearing about your campaign. I don't have the players right now so it's wish fulfilment.

Yeah, I had the same initial problem (easy enough to work around, but yeah, it happened), and I second the sentiment.

If you could put something about how that might happen, it might make life easier for the real people.  Kill the bots.  Smiley

I have to figure out where to do that.  I'll take a look.

*UPDATE*

I did some searching and found out this has been a bug since the patch was released two years ago (nice for me to keep on top of things!).  Did the code change here from work, and the bug is fixed!

Well I think it's fixed, I tested it with a new account and it worked flawlessly.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

REALLY?  Smiley  I feel old, I guess....  LOL  Ralph Bakshi's animated fantasy classic, Wizards.  One of the characters was Necron99, a robot assassin.  Well, that handle was taken when I enrolled somewhere.. so I changed it to Necron69... as I was born in 1969.  I've used Necron99 a lot...but since it was taken, I wanted to use the same handle on all role game sites...because I'm lazy. Smiley  This is Necron99:

Dude... 65 baby!

Yes I know the movie and recognize the chara.

I never knew or don't remember his name.

Remember Fire and Ice?

Rock and Rule? With Blondie, Cheap Trick and Iggy Pop?

Your not that old dude...

So funny story...  I'm originally from Fargo, ND (But I got to Texas as fast as I could).  Anyway, I was at the world premier of the movie Fargo, in Fargo, at the Fargo theater.  Now... I was regaling this tale to someone who insisted the movie Fargo was a true story.  I replied, "No, really, I promise, it's fiction."  Their response?  "Welll at the beginning it says that it's a true story."

So I said, "Well at the beginning of Star Wars it says ...a long time ago in a galaxy far far away....  did you believe that too?"  LOL

Got my players all lined up, none of them has ever opened the V&V rule book...they were all born after it was published.  Smiley  They won't get to see ANYTHING.  Based on vague descriptions of the powers charts they will have to pick.  And they won't have any idea what various powers generally can do, how much damage, etc.  Fun fun fun!  They whole idea is that "holy cow, how did this happen to me and what do I do now?" story line, with non-feigned ignorance!
