Initiative Tracking in Excel - Formula Provided!

I love using excel.  I used it to track initiative and keep notes when we played D&D, with my laptop off to the side, and plan on using it for V&V, but wasn't sure how to organize it.

Well, I think I have it figured out.
First, here is a list of the formula.  It looks complicated but it really isn't.  I learned about If statements in Excel today, just to do this, so anyone else on here can too.

Just type them into Excel as shown.

Here's the finished product:

Note that when you type in the formulas, you should be typing 1st column formula into cell C2, 2nd column formula into D2, etc.

I can't zip file anything or I'd just attach it.

We'll see how well it works, but I like it so far.

When I get home I'll see if my husband can zip file it for me to attach.  I was just excited to put this out there.

Nice job, Phrennzy.  I like the ability to sort and put the phases in order.
I'm still working on my version that will put the players in order by phase. Having trouble with the variable number of variables.

Your's is clean and simple.  The best kind of gadget.

Thanks guys.  I'm excited to use it.  I used a dry erase board last game night and it worked, but was not as cool.  And no room for notes.  and I kept putting my notes down on top of it and partially erasing the numbers lol.

Fingers crossed.

Also looking forward to getting Hammer's sheet.  Anything that helps make combat smoother is a plus.

Go get "Open Office". It will run the excel file - and it's FREE  Grin

Also HAMMER, Nicely done. I dig it... I just never have a computer with me when I play. I go all old school paper and pencil.  Roll Eyes

A long time ago one of my players printed out a simple sheet with all of the numbers in columns, where each number would have 15 subtracted from it.  Then he laminated it.  So with a single document you could easily keep track of everyone's initiative, even without a computer (you just use a wet erase pen and write down the letter for each character).

I'd love to attach it here, but I can't attach an excel doc.

Hopefully after I send it to a few people, they can give me some feedback on it.  I think I've posted about it here before, but there are a lot of new faces on now. Smiley

I'd love some feedback, it was a labor of love, and I've used it, but I'm not sure how easy it will be for anyone else to figure out.  Shocked

Hammer I love it.  Looks like you took your time rather than slapped it together like I did haha.

I know it's a lot, I play with my laptop, so it helped me, but you can print out the pages if you don't want to use it.  Once you enter the info on the first page, I believe the rest populates.  Just did it for myself, but it'd be nice if someone else used it after putting all that into it. HAMMER!!!!

That is SLICK!!!!

Thanks for posting that. I was gonna post my initiative spreadsheet but you blew me out of the water! LOL!!!

I occurs to me that maybe we should ask the mods create a new zone for "Gaming Aids" where we can post our clever tricks and helpful spreadsheets (and whatnot).

How 'bout it?

Real slick, Slick.
I like it. Makes what I was trying for moot. I'll just use yours, freeing me to fiddle with something else.

Thanks for sharing, Hammer.

Absolutely agree.
Obviously, I was recreating something that Hammer had already built.  If I had seen his before, I would have been using it.
A place where we can all share material would be great.
