Captain America's non-stripes

Can someone please tell me why Captain America's suit does *NOT* have stripes on his uniform?  He has these weird markings that slightly resemble stripes until you look closer.

I checked, and it started in 2015 with "Age of Ultron" in phase 2.

1) Captain America: The First Avenger (stripes!)
2) The Avengers (stripes!)
3) Captain America: The Winter Soldier ("stealth suit" had the weird markings, but the traditional suit had stripes)
4) Avengers: Age of Ultron (WEIRD MARKINGS!!!)
5) Captain America: Civil War (WEIRD MARKINGS!)
6) Avengers: Infinity War (Yep, weird markings again!)
7) Avengers: End Game (back to the regular stripes, but only because they... SPOILERS!)

Anyway, I've wondered this for a long time but no one has been able to answer it, yet!?

Also, Cap chided Tony for cursing in Avengers 2 during the first battle scene, but he cussed at Black Widow in "The Winter Soldier" when they hit that ship at the beginning:

Widow: Ok, that was on me.
Cap: D*mn right it was!

That's a version of Steve Rogers when he gave up being Cap, but worked as a member of Secret Avengers (more spy like). I haven't read those comics and only know of the overall storyline.
