I should say "hello!"  So, hello!

V&V was my game of choice back in the 80s.  I eventually moved on to other systems and games, but was excited to rediscover V&V and find such an active community.

Looking forward to reading more of what all of you are up to!

Hello, robbneu!  I'm pretty new here, too, but, yeah this is a very active and motivated community.  At least a few of the folks here are actually producing new V&V material on a regular basis as well.

Welcome, robbneu!

There's been a LOT of material released in the past two years for V&V!  FGU even has free stuff on their website:
http://www.fantasygamesunlimited.net/page7.html

If you haven't seen the magazine articles about V&V yet, you can find them here:

Thanks, maxwellchris and Display Name!  I appreciate the welcome!

Yes, I was a little stunned when I saw all the new material for V&V.  I have since spent a little more than I probably should have, picking up PDFs and a couple of Giants from FGU.  Good stuff!  It's shockingly fun to be back!

I didn't know about the magazine articles, so I'll likely spend some time digging around in there, too!  Thanks!

Welcome aboard the site. I really love how this site is letting all of us old gamers get together, as well as introducing new players to the game.

Thanks, dsumner!

I left my growing stack of V&V stuff on the kitchen table last night and my 7 year old son asked me this morning if we could play.  I told him we could try.   Grin

Welcome, robbneu!  I've played V&V a bunch with my kids, too, and they really love it.  Within a few years your son will likely be rolling up characters all by himself!  Cool

Hi all!  I am a new member and just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Nick and I have played RPGs since 1982.  I don't get to play much anymore, but still try to keep up on the hobby.  I was happy to see this forum and wanted to join it ASAP.  I have a physical copy of Bushido and digital copies of several other FGu classics.

It's ironic that I found this forum, as I was putting together a FGU basic game mechanics sheet.  I am doing this because I was wondering if there were any game mechanics that are the same between the different games that FGU published.

Hi, Nick!  Welcome to the board!

There's some more V&V goodness here:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/vnvrpg/files/

And FGU has some free samples on their website, too!

Which V&V adventures did you like best?

Welcome to the site Nick, it's good to see so many of us old times still keeping the flame alive. And if no ones pointed it out, FGU now has its own forums with sections dedicated to V&V, Bushido, Daredevils, Aftermath, and Space Opera. It's just getting up and running, so there's not much discussion, yet, but if you get a chance, you might want to take a look. Here's the link - http://www.fantasygamesunlimited.net/phpbb/

As others have said, welcome aboard.

I'm not aware of any carryover mechanics between the different FGU games.  My first suggestion would be to look at games by the same author (or with shared authors) and see if any of those have shared mechanics.

Hyuck!  I didn't even see that part!

The only difference in rules mechanics would be the first edition and revised edition.  Everything published by FGU is in revised edition.

I think he's talking about the different games FGU publishes/published, DN.  You know, Flashing Blades, Daredevils, etc.

I was told recently by Mr. Bizar that Daredevils, Aftermath and Space Opera are similar; in fact the way he indicated it to me is that the engines are basically the same and that if you played Daredevils until familiar, and then Aftermath until comfortable , and then Space Opera, you would see a progression in complexity.
I'm not sure how Bushido figures in, but we also talked about how the guys over at Hero Games back in the day used some of the Bushido mechanics to develop the Champions RPG...

Hi everyone in V&V Land! Just dug out my boxed sets of V&V 2nd edition, Champions 2nd edition, and Superworld. V&V seems to be the easiest to comprehend these days so I am looking to get back into it as I enjoy super hero role-playing and Bronze Age comics. The newer super hero RPGs are impossible for me to wade through given their hundreds of pages and my limited time...I like how the older games give you the rough basics and you make it your own from there. Feels like there's more personality.

Hoping to get useful information on here and possibly locate some other players and DMs in my area so I can get active in V&V! Or, if no one is around me, are there any online games?

Thanks!

I found the FGU site first and downloaded some freebies. The forum their doesn't seem to have much going on. I'll have to see those magazine articles. All I have is a couple old Different Worlds with write-ups for Teen Titans and X-Men for V&V, Champions, and Superworld.
