Haha!  Ok, then thank you, Paul!  I really do appreciate it.

I sure wish my computer would do laundry!  Heck, just give these new phones a decade or so, and I bet they will do that.

Hello all, new to the site. Hoping to play some VnV online with some new people. I'm currently playing it by email, and a GM by forum. I just got into it this year so I'm still rusty on some rules.

I'm curious if there is going to be a new online VnV game I can join; I see that the last one was posted in June/August, so I don't know if that one's still going on or not.

Welcome to the site, MegaSilver!  I really like your avatar, btw!

I'm not sure if there are any active online games right now.  I think one poster named Cougar usually has one going (his Megalopolis campaign); hopefully he'll jump on here if that's the case.

Thanks! My avatar is Venoc Warlord from Heroscape, my favorite game. I'm a moderator on Heroscapers.com, as well.

Thanks for the info. I hope to join in a game whenever one starts up.

I've played a bunch of that game, too.  Here's one pic of a game my kids were playing:

And here's a shot from a couple of years ago, when my son ran a V&V session at a con (with about 10 players), where the dimension the heroes adventured/fought in was represented by a Heroscape map he put together (V&V counters on Heroscape tiles).

That's awesome. You know you can play online now? You can PM me for details, or get more information about here: http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=50595

It's a great way to play with people you haven't met before, or if you don't have anyone around to play against. I'm a Moderator for one of the online events.

Hallo.

I'm Erik. Haven't played a lot of V&V, but I do enjoy the rules and such... Mostly got on here to find out the answers to certain questions - as well as learn some house rules to try to talk my GM into.

Anyways, yeah. . . that's my lame introduction.

I'm back... Sorta.

Friend of mine got me renewed ala interest in this game.

Got a better job... So I can finally get those 3 missing mods (non-fgu) and I then have them all.

Anyhow... Hi again. Posted some relatively newer art. Go look if your inclined.

Also posted a map of my Metro City, New Jersey.

About...27 years ago I was introduced properly into the world of table top rpg. At first it was exclusively TSR D&D, then I discovered marvel superhero rpg. It was fun for what it was, but didn't have a good feel. Left and right new games were thrown at me. Star Trek (zzzzz) palladium's robotech, (later TMNT) DC rpg, cyberpunk, Star Wars and others.
None of them had an original feel like V&V.
My first superhero I played was in G7s game. I rolled up a teenage fire using hero. I insisted on him wearing a cape. Because I thought in the eyes of society, Heroes wore capes.
It didn't matter if he had a streak of fire behind him as he flew though the air. Besides, the heat he gave off would make the cape flap even if there was no wind.
Moving on .

My favorite games to play quickly reduced down to AD&D and V&V. Other systems seemed too rules heavy or complicated at first glance (insert champions or ICE here )

As years passed and ages increased, I never stopped playing RPGs entirely. Even with a family at home and being on the road for work, I end up (mostly as a GM) playing every so often. And last week, when I was ready to complete my Pathdinder campaign arc, my players mutinyed and forgot the pathfinder character sheets and brought the V&V stuff.

So I ended up helping 2 new players create their first super heroes, just like I did all those years ago.

I decided , due to many past complaints about low hit points being common, and some heroes being "one hit wonders" ( one hit and they get KOed) I would have their starting base line be 8 instead of zero for stats. So 3d6 +8 for stats.
It worked. Nobody has pushover hit points in this game...no where do I find stats for the ultimate nullifier?

Anyhow, that's my intro. Sorry for posting elsewhere first. I'm the sort that just tries to make Optimus prime transform before reading the directions.

Hey,

Don't worry about not posting here first.  I had that rule a few years ago when bots were joining left and right and posting spam.  Since then Paulie did something technical that I don't understand and the problem is gone.

So I should update this thread to show that....

Welcome, Detective27!  Your story is great, and reminds me of some reminiscing I was doing myself earlier today (thinking back on those early RPG days).

Hey D27...

Boy is that the short version.
Ever wonder how many hours we rpg'd?

I remember full weekends 6-8 he's on a Friday, usually 10-12 on a Saturday with a few breaks and then about 8 more on Sunday...

Did we ever watch TV?

I remember we spent a weekend watching the entire Robotech saga... I wanted to drown Minmay better than halfway through it.

Then there was my 13 yr Greyhawk campaign... How sad, All my meticulous notes, drawings and all my multiple 1st ed books/every 1st ed mods and suppluments are now gone from a basement flood.
Man that still upsets me. I could have wrote a book from those notes alone. Oh well. At least all my V&V stuff was upstairs.

...and all my notes!

Well I was naked while doing it, so kinda embarrassing I guess.  Actually it was really bad because now that I remember, it wasn't even my computer, it was my neighbors.

Come to think of it, my first Greyhawk character I played was actually an npc I took over. I had high ambitions and asked to play a drow elf...luckily there was one available.
My first rolled up Greyhawk character was a human thief...yes thief. They didn't call them rogues back then.
