Insect and Plant Control Examples

Here's information from five adventures showing ways to handle insect/plant control in V&V. I thought this would be helpful to others because the animal list on p. 46 of the rules doesn't discuss insects, and the introductory module Crisis at Crusader Citadel doesn't describe different ways that Evergreen could use her plant control abilities.

The Beekeeper from Most Wanted, vol. 1
Bee Control Device: 46 hits worth of killer bees can be controlled, each hit worth attacks with HTH+1 for 1d4 damage at 4th level. Up to 5 hits worth of bees can attack a normal-sized human opponent at once.

Cockroach from The Dawn of DNA
Cockroach Control: controls up to 28 hit points worth (or 1400 pounds) of cockroaches. Each hit point (50 lbs. worth) or cockroaches fights at 4th level, attaching HTH for 1d3 damage and moving two inches per turn. Their general tactic however, is to go for special attacks (against devices or their opponent's eyes, lungs, etc.).

SWARMaster from Opponents Unlimited
Insect Control: While all types can be controlled the SWARMaster prefers using ants, termites bees, etc. When available, locusts and hordes of Gypsy Moth caterpillars are his preferred material due to their reputations and appearance. Up to 32 hit points of insects can be controlled figure 50 insects per hit point. SWARMaster collects his little pets before going out into the field.

Tactics/M.O.: The Beekeeper will usually have a few of his bees scout out an area before he makes his move. ... He will usually use the bees under the following conditions: if he is out numbered, he needs a diversion or means to cover an escape, he is seriously hurt or he is fighting someone who will be freaked out by the bees.

Sequoya from The Great Iridium Con
Plant Control: Can animate 33 Hit Points (1650 lbs.) of plants. No power cost, but requires one action per turn.

Combat Tactics: Because of his mediocre agility, Sequoya rarely bothers with his Plant Control in combat, though he often spends time pre-combat weaving the local flora into tripwires, nets, cages, spikes and other traps.

JASS extraterrestrials From the Deeps of Space
Plant Control Device: The swamps of the JAAS home planet are clock full of slimy, thorny, and otherwise obnoxious vegetable life. The hand-held plant-control device use sonic fields and hormone sprays to cause plants within five inches of the user to grow and entwine targets in the area. Plants can hold down people with under two hundred pounds of carrying capacity (after gravity effects) and can impede all others (halve movement in area). Damage, if applicable is 1d4 per attack.
