Dimension Travel and Teleportation Attacks

A few V&V characters with dimension travel and teleportation have combat advantages that other characters with similar powers do not seem to have (based on their power and background information in sourcebooks).

The rulebook tells us that Nomad uses Dimension Travel to open a 1 inch square dimensional portal under Mammoth's feet .... Mammoth fails an Agility save on 1d20 to jump clear and falls through it. Nomad has a 60% chance of having sent him to the desired dimension [based on his intelligence and power points spent]; he rolls percentile dice and is successful. Mammoth has been imprisoned in Limbo.

Note that Nomad did not need to make a To Hit roll. The chance of successfully going to the right dimension was rolled after Mammoth missed one saving throw and fell through

Terror by Night features the Zuvembie Lord with Magic Spell Device: Dimension Travel - use of the spell opens a portal to 'Purgatory', a misty grey Limbo echoing with screams of the damned. A character can escape by making an INT roll on 1d100 but anyone so transported loses 2d6 power/turn. This spell can be cast five times/day.

This description suggests that falling into purgatory is automatic; only after they are trapped do opponents get saving throws to escape.

Overseer is the only character I've spotted with the ability to teleport in objects. His powers include Dimension Travel (type 1) to travel to travel with no error between Earth and the Devil's Domain. He also has Teleportation: Can teleport himself and/or up to 547 lbs.

Here are his Tactics/M.O.: The Overseer is not a brawler. He tends to battle by teleporting in objects of roughly 500 pounds and dropping them on his opponents. If the Overseer knows the location of substances like molten metals or liquid energy, he will favor them over mundane objects simply because they can do more damage against targets. He also likes to pretend that he is not responsible for the object he teleports.

To keep things interesting, here are a few more notes.

Pre-Emptive Strike tells us that characters cannot see through the teleportation and dimension travel portals used in that module.

At one point in that module, opening a portal device to a random location on Earth may have a 20% chance of opening into solid rock and a 70% chance of opening into a a body of water, which will flood the area.
