Comicbooks: Characters or Creators?

I tend to follow a comicbook title solely for the creative team. If they happen to be working on a character I like, that's gravy.

Do you buy a comicbook for the star character(s), for the writer/artist team, or for something else?

Multiple answers are permitted in one 'vote.'

Thanks.

I voted for almost all categories; cross-title events tend to be let downs.

Since "artist" usually means "penciler/inker" in the trade, I had to include Other. Sometimes the colorer and inker synch the job.

I also voted Other because guest stars (in non cross-over events) often are more important than lead characters.

I follow mostly the character and then writers.  I have been collecting the Avengers from #1 to current, and there have been some awful runs.   I Have been following Fantastic Four from issue 25 to current, and the same.
However,  guys like Alan Moore, Gaiman and a few others I will get no matter what title they are on.

I am scary, very, very scary.

Yeah but once that Avengers movie is about to come out you can sell the whole run and retire in style.  Smiley

Creators plays into the deal. There are a few creators who I don't like politically and won't buy their stuff no matter how good it's supposed to be. You could call it a boycott, I guess.

A number of my friends who don't know anything about V&V aren't big on some of the political statements Bill Willingham has said at conventions, but they still by his DC titles because they like his work so much.
