Everybody has a favorite die. What's yours???

Even though percentile dice usually means rolling two ten-siders, I gave it a separate slot from 1d10 since it truly is a different dynamic than rolling 1d10 in other ways.

I gotta say, I love the d20... I love the 5%/side.  It also seems to be the die most people pick up when they first see my dice set. 

I was looking at some "card games," and noticed that they are now using a d20 to track lives or hit points now.

I like to roll the HORROR DICE!



I don't know where they came from, but an old player gave me two dice.  One had a picture of a body with a different body part colored red on each side.   
   The other dice had some nasty symbols; fire, knives, a skull, lighting bolts, a guy falling in a pit, and wiggly lines that I called Wracking Pain.

  I never used them in a game, but when players were rowdy, I would joke that its time to break out the Horror Dice.

d10, hands down! I'm shocked it's not winning.
Pleasing shape. Sides are big enough to read the number. Flexible enough to become percentile dice. If I have a hth guy, I want him to do 1d10 damage. Perfect in every way!

I'm not sure I follow. Why is 1d10 perfect for HTH damage? Isn't 1d12 higher? I must be missing something. Maybe you mean that you like it when you get into 2d10, 3d10, etc.

Very funny. It's nice to know someone (even in a film) liked rolling 1d4.

1d4 is a necessary evil. I wonder if anyone every tried to market a 1d2 game piece... It would have easily fit in to dice tubes.

Good point. I've gotten into more than 1d3 misunderstandings with other players over the years when 1d6 is rolled to represent 1d3 and half the people use one system and the other half use the other system. Unless you roll a 6 (which means 3 in both systems), it's bad, bad news.

My only misgivings about having a 6-sided die that's numbered as a 3-sider is that there'll be times when someone rolls that 1d3-er by mistake when they should role 1d6.

I had thought about getting me a set of the Crystal Caste dice recently but this is something that I think I should have gotten on board with earlier instead of now because it looks like they've gotten harder to find and more expensive. The only one I didn't like as much was the d20 because it looks almost hard to read.

That's better than what some of my players do - accidentally roll a d10 instead of a d8, or a d12 instead of a d10.

Yeah, I've wondered a few times, honestly!   

With at least one of my players - who has let his health go so much that he got a detached retina (his weight won't allow surgery to fix it) and is thus blind in one eye - I know he sometimes does this on accident.
