The closest you came to what I love most about comics is excellent plots.  But I think the best way to express what I love is the imagination.   There is no real limit to what you can put in a comic, and as we can see from the old Lee Kirby Thors and Fantastic Fours,  comic imagination was lightyears ahead of the rest of the world.  Hell, I think movies are now finlly catching up to what comics have done 50 years ago.

While I voted for excellent plot/pacing, it was more of a combination of all of the above. My favorite comics had a good plot, interesting characters, with good dialog, nice art, great covers, and, yes a letter page, where fans could speak with the creators.
