You like Matt Smith?  I haven't gotten to him yet, but something about him bothers me.  Oh well, I felt the same way about Tennant before I watched his run.

Well, time to say good bye to the Tenth Doctor.  Elle and I just finished the last episode with him.   As much as we didn't like him at first, he grew on us.  We were both sad to see him leave the show.

And that same feeling about not liking the new Doctor is in my apartment.  My wife and I just talked about how apprehensive we are about Smith.  But then we talked about how I didn't like Eccelston at firsts, and we both hated Tennate until about four or five episodes.

I keep hearing good things about Smith, so  I will cut him some slack.

I loved Eccelston, he was what the doctor at that time should have been and it was from episode 1 from the get go. I do feel that russell davies allowed his personal view on the actor to limit the stories that they had for him.
Tennant was the golden child of davies..he got the best pre moffat stories..
Smith reminds me of the 2nd doctor meets the 5th

He said in a interview, that he found it easier to write for tennant. Its no secret that he did not get along with Eccelston and he was one of the reasons that Eccelston left

Ok I am all caught up with the DVD releases.  Elle and I have finished Season 5, with Matt Smith.  Ok, I like him.  He is more of the nerdy type than the cool guy type that Eccelston was .
He is endearing, and he has great potential.   I loved the Van Gogh episode, the stand out episode of the season.

And Amy Pond,  oh man, hubba hubba.  I would post more, but I don't want this to turn into a Penthouse Forum letter.

My only complaint is that the stories tend to be a bit sloppy.    The Russel years had a bit of sloppiness to them, and I chalked that up to British Story  Telling, but  season five just had to many.   They totally forgot that Weeping Angels are called that because they are the lonliest beings in the universe.  They turn to stone even if they see each other, so they hunt alone.    In the Angel two parter, there were hundreds of them running around, and yet they all managed to not see each other?   Oh well....

And  I watched the 8th Doctor, Paul McGann's Tv Movie.

I love it!   I was told how bad it was, but you know what?  It was a perfect bridge from the cheapo special effects from the Seventh Doctor's years to the computer graphics and nice sets of the Ninth Doctor.   And McGann was great.   He was a nice blend of humor,  childness, and daring that I want from the Doctor.  Its a shame that people crap on this movie,  it was great.   Even Eric Robert's campy acting was great.  Man when he pranced out in the Timelord robe I nearly cracked up.

And the Tardis, man, it was without a doubt the best Tardis of all.  Even with the wind blown leaves inside for no reason at all it had the best look.    Its a shame it wasn't picked up for a new series.

Here is to hoping that they make a new special with the 8th doctor telling the story of the Time War and show him regenerating into the ninth doctor.  How cool would that be?  I hope McGann and Eccelston don't have any ill will towards the current Producers.

Just a quick reminder, for all you Doctor Who fans, that the Doctor Who Easter Special airs at 9PM EST this Sunday night on BBC America.

The BBC uploads the sow the day after it airs, but for some reason you can only watch it in the UK. Also, slight correction, it airs Saturday, not Sunday, and this actually kicks on Season 6.

Sometimes the Doctor just has to pop a cap in yo' ass.
Extra goodness is the Forth Doctor cracking a neck at the end.

The new Doctors are wussies compared to these guys.  Hell, even Granpa First Doctor was willing to murder a native if need be...

I must be nuts because I thought there was already a thread on this but I can't find it. Just watched the first episode of the new season.

I loved it. Will have to wait for the little one to get back home and watch it again with her.

Too bad I'm not familiar with the other Dr's but I love this version.

I think that the Great Intellegence is going to be the bad guy for this season.  The 2nd Doctor fought him twice. lots of old Doctor references this episode. He mentions his granddaughter ( Susan) and a dimension ruled by a madman ( the Celestial Toymaker, a villain the first and Second  doctor fought).

I also think that the Doctor himself is going to cause Clara to "split" through time or something.

Watched "Cold War" tonight. Matt Smith is the only Dr I really watched except for the 4th Dr when I was a kid.

My daughter and I both love it though she missed it tonight. Good thing is they always play the previous weeks episode an hour earlier each Saturday just in case you missed it the week before. Or of course you just feel like watching it twice.

Because of The Dr I end up watching more BBC America in general. Will try Orphan Black tonight.
