I really enjoy playing tabletop and was wondering how everyone else on this site plays V&V--if at all.

Table top is by far my preference... but I'm not getting as much table time as I'd like these days.

As for myself I play in Dr. Foom's, and GM my own, a Play by Post Game.

Seriously,  I play every other Friday with the group, and then we do solos when we can.   My group is me as GM with board members; Paulie,  Oni,  Stormdance, and Marshal Strong.

And as a bonus,  Oni ran a game and I got to be a player for the first time in decades.   I used a character I made up when I was 14.   Since Frank Miller was the big shit then,  I of course, made up a ninja based hero.    Its cool to play as a player again.

I prefer to be a player instead of a GM. When you spend alot of time designing gaming materials it is refreshing (and also useful) to simply get to play for a change...

I play email/ PBEM because I don't have the free time for a dedicated night to play.  That was if I found a group to play with.

V&V character creation is too much fun.

We play tabletop every other week at my place.  Most of you have probably heard this before, but our current campaign is 20 years old (started in 1990).  We currently have six regulars, with a few others that are there occasionally.  I love to GM, but also enjoy playing.  All of us take turns being GM in our campaign, some more than others, though.  I am the overall "Editor-in-Chief" for our campaign (since we have so many GMs) to insure continuity, consistency, etc.

I was playing in a PBEM game, but the GM's schedule didn't support continuing it.  Nevertheless, I had a blast with it.

The last game I ran for V&V was over IRC (chat).  I have been tempted to see if a few of my current group would like to play V&V, but haven't run it by them yet.

Any reason you haven't tried it with them yet?

A couple...

1) We've been playing D&D4E, and several folks have been happy with that, but we have run into some unreliable players, so that is kind of tanking it since missing people in 4E is pretty critical

2) Our gaming has kind of hit a bad time.  It feels like pulling teeth to get responses of availability from folks.  I talked to the other GM, and he said he felt the same way.

3) I'm just a little burned out on some of the players (see # 1 and # 2 above).  Some said up front they would be available part of the time.  No problem.  Two of the core folks are a husband and wife, and they cancelled on our last D&D session the day before the game.  Later they said they were going to watch UFC, and the group was welcome to come watch.  Mind you, the UFC show wasn't airing during our regular gaming sessions.

The other GM has gamed with the couple before, and he said they bailed a few years ago after starting this same crap.

I have no idea if there is one in any of your areas but I joined the Portland D&D meetup group when I decided to get back into RPG's a few years ago. The Portland group has over 700 members that all live in the Portland Metro area of course. I am in three gaming groups currently. I run a V&V game every other week, a Pathfinder game once a month and am a player in a GURPS campaign once a month as well. Of course I am now the lead organizer of the Portland D&D meetup group too. That's what I get for volunteering I guess lol.

I'm playing in Dominique's PBEM game right now, and having a blast.  I play tabletop with my kids, was pretty regular, maybe once a month recently, I'm hoping to increase the regularity this summer.

I haven't played in years. I currently play in a once a week 4E D&D campaign, but would love to break out the V&V. I'm not sure if anyone here in the Philadelphia area is currently running a tabletop campaign, but I would love to try a PBEM game. If anyone ever needs a pinch hitter in one of their games, I'd be willing to give it a shot Smiley
