Possible new play-by-post game

Okay people, I've been thinking about starting a second online game, because I keep getting requests to play. It'd be a play by post game, and limited to between 5-7 characters (as that's all I can keep track of). If, and I repeat, IF, I get it off the ground, how many of you would be interested in playing?

Nope. If I did start it, It'd be a completely separate game, set in a different continuity. The primary reason I'd be starting it is to try to accommodate several of the requests I've gotten, from people who want to play. Plus, I've got some house rules I want to play test.  Wink

Are you looking for all new players, or willing to allow existing players in both games?

I'd be interested in another story line...

I'd allow existing players, but I'm primarily trying to accommodate some of the newer guys, as a few of the have asked about playing in a game.

Hey gents, sorry for the delay in answering, I've worked close to 40 hours in the last three days, so once I get some a shower, some sleep, and a decent meal, I'll start replying to your questions.

Just so I'm sure, as of right now, the list of potential players consists of:

1) Imaginos
2) Frezdc3
3) Hammer
4) American Dynamo

Anyone else, as I'd be willing to take on a group of up to six or seven players.

Being in one campaign is enough work for me. So taking on a second one sounds like a formidable task!

It sounds like your second campaign would be in its own world (iike the X-Men vs. the Titans as opposed to the Avengers East Coast and Avengers West Coast). Do you have any general ideas about how your new campaign would differ from the first.

I've been thinking a lot about world-building as of late and am interested in hearing your thoughts. It's something I don't hear talked about as much here as in D&D sites. So I'm itching to hear people's thoughts.

At the moment, I'm still playing around with some very rough ideas. I'm thinking the heroes are the newest generation of heroes, taking up the mantle of a long standing group of heroes, as many of them are ready for retirement.

As far as world building goes, I tend to sketch out some general notes, and fill in the blanks as they're called for. If you look back over the Empire City thread, you can see how I've slowly been adding information and details on locations and people as they're introduced into the game.

At the moment, I've only got a few rough ideas for a game world, so I still need to work out a lot of the details. While I'm thinking about it, what type of characters are you guys interested in playing? I'd trying to get a rough idea of the power sets you guys are interested in using.

I agree with not wanting to take space from players who have not had  a chance to play yet. But I have a thought. If the players are playing the next generation and you are having older heroes who are retiring, how about sometime playing one of the retired heroes?  If that's OK send out a hero, if not OK. If you have space I would like to play but not at expense of someone else not getting a spot

Are there any themes you are interested in exploring? Anything you'd rather us stay away from?  Want some kind of unity from the get go?

I rolled up a pure skills based guy who uses Parkour for special movement (speed bonus).  Don't know how you feel about stats on the skills table though, in regard to human maximum and such.

Okay now I have the beginnings of a background story and would like some input into the powers

Magma

Real Name: Marshal Branham
Occupation: Adventurer,student
Identity: Secret
Legal Status: Citizen of the United States with no criminal record, presumed dead
Date of Birth: April 14, 1990
Place of Birth: Martinsville, Indiana
Marital Status: Single
Known Relatives:
Group Affiliation:
Base of Operations:

History:
Marshal was born in the small town of Martinsville Indiana. He grew up a regular kid in a small town. He was never an athlete, but a book worm. He was enamored of the earth sciences. He decided early on that he wanted to be a teacher, and he worked hard to get good grades and a scholarship to a university. In his second year at Indiana University, he had a chance to study active volcanoes on a field study. He packed up an went off on his first real adventure. His study group traveled to the Pacific and hopped from island to island studying volcanoes. Like students everywhere, Marshal experimented with new cultures, and experiences while abroad. He even smoked hallucinogenic plants while watching some native rituals. Unfortunately for him the drugs had strange reactions with the volcanic fumes in the area. The shamanistic magic in the area kept his soul from dying, but could not help his body. He woke in a body made from earth and magma. He woke with no memory of who he was and lived on the small island for a few years. Hiding in the vents and being worshiped by the natives. His memory of his past has started to resurface, but in small parts. His memory is mostly hit and miss. Do to some strange urge he wanted to go back to the United States, so he began walking. He walked all the way to the US. During the trip his memory began to fill in,and now he remembers who he was, but can never have that life again. He spends his time hiding from normals, but longs to live among them again.

Height:
Weight:
Hair: None
Eyes: Red

I was thinking size change growth, some armor and strength, and maybe a reduction in movement. No need to breathe

Question for you guys, I want a power that represents the fact he has magma in his veins instead of blood, what would you suggest? If nothing else I can save the guy for another game. One thing I like about this site is that with all the art and talk among players and GM here it helps get my brain going on all sorts of new ideas Thanks to all

Great character, Avatar!  I'd suggest that - with the magma in the blood thing - it could be quite simple to do.  In most circumstances it wouldn't really matter, but if for some reason another character came in contact with his blood, they would take damage (possibly 1d8?  or even up to 1d12 as per Flame).  Obviously caution should be used with this, as no GM wants to create a monster.  I'd recommend the 1d8 to 1d12 be per turn.  1d12 per phase might be more realistic (we've had a character die from falling into molten magma), but doing that much damage could be problematic in the hands of a power gamer (the player cuts himself and his blood acts like acid, swiftly burning the villain until he's gone).  Not suggesting you would be like that, but it's always wisest to build things balanced from the beginning.

Oh man cutting himself! never even thought of that lol
Well I guess it depends on whether or not I can take a spot in this new game. The magma can just be background/info whatever. Thanks Majestic for the help

what do you guys think of this?

Body Power:Magma Blood- characters blood is magma, as a result, his body is always hot to the touch. Use the flame power as a defense when attacking him. If he is cut/bleeds, blood does 1d12 damage (target may avoid with an agility save due to fact that magma moves slow then hardens)

Hello All.

My long time friend, Avatar, told me about this sight and that there may be a possible opening in a new game.  He and I used to play V&V together when we were in high school.  I haven't played V&V in years and it sounds pretty derned cool to me.  I am officially interested in playing if you still have a spot open.

I will be seeing him this weekend (we live in different cities) and we will go over a few things.  I have not as yet come up with a concept for a character.  I was just told about this a while ago.  I hope to see more of you!  Cheesy

I'd look at Laserfire in Crisis at Crusader's Citadel.  He has the following power:

Chemical Power - Acid Blood.  22" range, PR=8 per attack, 2d8 damage.  Also sprays when he takes hit point damage; roll to hit each character in a 45 degree arc, up to 2" away at no cost in actions, movement, or power.

I believe that I have a concept for my character.  The following is a basic run down (LOL) of his history and powers.  an actual introductory short story to follow.

A young Kentucky man was tending his moonshine still, in the spring of 1941, when he and it are struck out of the clear blue sky by a bolt of lightning.  Through unexplainable interactions, the young man is gifted with the powers of super speed.  Seeing that his gifts were meant for something greater than moonshineing, he volunteered for service to his country.

The American Govt saw his potential and placed him, along side of General Freedom and Rat-Man, in the newly formed Allied World Freedom's League.  The fledgling super team set out to oppose the evils of the Axis nations.

After a short and glorious career, the League was sent to Berlin to deal with the evil heart of the Axis, Adolf Hitler.  Those 'Nat-Sies' were ready for them.  The German's super group, the Aryan Donner Krieger, ambushed the league before they could deal with little Adolf.

As our young hero raced in to save his fellow League members, Doktor Donner blasted him with the Dunder Kannon, a Massive Weapon designed to hurl lightning from Berlin to London.  The artificial lightning combined with his lightning based speed powers to send him careening forward to the modern age.

Can the modern age handle the full power of White Lightning?
