Anyone reading this? I was a HUGE fan of the first Young Avengers series, and had been waiting for them to make their return. I enjoyed the 1st issue, as it set up a decent plotline that will hopefully clean up the mess Marvel's made out of the Vision, Scarlet Witch, and and their former kids lives. I'd also like to see them do something with Wonder Man, as he's been a bit "off" in his portrayal lately.

I haven't seen the new Young Avengers yet, but while going through my comic collection looking for a particular pic I found the Vision/Scarlet Witch 12 issue series I hope they clear things up.

So, am I the only person to have checked this out? Seriously, I think it's going to be a really good series. The first run of Young Avengers had some really good stuff going for it. They didn't try to reinvent the wheel. They managed to integrate established Marvel continuity, newer stuff, as all new material into a decent storyline. The book was kid friendly, so I don't mind handing it off to younger kids (although if you're offended by the ideas of interracial relationships, or homosexuals, then this mite not be the book for you. As I remember the stink on the net about the Ultimate Nick Fury being black). I really wish Marvel would give the book more of a push.

I'm reading it and it is off to a good start. I have enjoyed the Young Avengers series in the past so I have high hopes for this series.

Cheers,
Tim

The 2nd issue is out, and I'm enjoying the storyline so far. I just wish it was a monthly, instead of a bi-monthly. Anyone besides Blackbolt, and myself reading this?

Hulkling is the worst character ever.  Why would a half Kree half Skrull sone of Mar Vell call himself Hulkling?

Every time I read this comic, that is all I can think about.  Why not   Thingling?   I mean, he can shape change?  How about Spiderling?  Or  Squirrlegirlling?

I think they went with the names the chose because they're supposed to be kids coming up with their own code names. Hulking liked to look like the hulk, and chose a name to reflect that. Go back an look at your characters names from when you were in Junior High or High School, and can guarantee some of them will be pretty bad.

Wiccan is an awful name too.   How about the next member be called Christian, or Jew?

Part of the names was misdirection to throw readers offe; I suspect we were meant to wonder Hulkling's connection to the Hulk. Similarly Wiccan was originally Asgardian, and his design echoes that of Thor.

I'm liking this series, and for those who have missed issues, or haven't checked it out, I think it'll read well in a trade, as the storyline will flow better. the bi-monthly schedule sort of throws it off.

I just wish we had seen more Heinberg-Cheung Young Avengers over the past few years.

So do I, but because of Heinburg's other writing commitments (Namely TV), comics is a sideline for him. His day job pays the bills. He's a comics fan boy who does it because it's something he'd always wanted to do, not because he's getting a fat paycheck.

Oh I know that, it is just a shame is all - the books they have crafted are the closest to evoking the magic of New Teen Titans under Wolfman and Perez for me.

You've got that right. YA was the only Marvel book I was picking up for a while, as the rest of the marvel line seemed to be spending to much time wallowing in self pity. YA was one of the few books I could recommend to anyone, of any age, and not worry about if it was appropriate for them to read.

Plus, the dialog showed that Heinberg loved not only his creations, and new his Marvel history. He didn't try to retcon things out of existence, he worked to integrate them into the storyline, even some of the more silly elements of Marvel's history, and that to me, is the mark of a good writer.
