What other settings would you be interested in a game?

I have been thinking alot about using V&V rules for other settings.   I love Supers but once in a while I get a hankering to run other senarios.  For the most part, my other senarios are set in the same world.
The Vigilantes are normal, non powered humans but set in  a world where their super powered characters also live.   The Westerns are set in the past of the same world.
I even introduced alternative worlds of the same multiverse, and I think I would like to try out a game or two on those worlds.
I set up a poll for my players ( and anyone else) to vote and tell me what you are interested in.    The only rule for voting is that you have to explain your vote.    So if you vote and you don't tell me why you are interested in such a setting, or why such a setting is not to your liking, then you are not really helping me.

So I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say.

I am scary, very, very scary.

Though I never really play, I think playing a Pirate would rock!!  And of course fantasy is always fun... though not an elf... they get boring.  Perhaps a mischeivous little faerie!!

I voted Space Opera. It allows for using super powers but likely under a more controlled setting than a standarrd 4 color comic world. You could do anything from a totally no-powered setting to a Legion of Super-hero setting where the characters basically have 1 maybe 2 powers with the obligatory hi-sci-fi-tech accutraments

It has the advantages of being ablr to interact with your normal campaign without the imo tired pllot devices requiring time or dimensional travel

A "gamma world" type setting is very conducive to V&V rules. You can start characters as "singles" where they have only one power and then mutations can increase from there, potentially adding powers or weaknesses.

Also the post-apocalyptic, essentially low technology, heroes-are-on-their-own environment is a nice contrast to the current V&V world with its large scale organizations like CHESS. Instead of the focus on defeating villains, the focus is primarily on survival.

"Singles" work pretty well, actually, especially in synergy.
I have a number of them over here (search for Type: Single)

I votes pirates. Just think of the possibilities as a super pirate. The stealing, looting, battling, and the loyalty system will shine in this setting! Ship to ship combat will be amazing, the fliers going at it above the ships while the nonfliers are boarding each others. I think this would be a really fun (albeit tricky) setting to run!

Seems I remember a pirate ship in the comics.  It sailed through space instead of water...?  Something like that.

You might be remembering Red Fury from Super Crooks & Criminals.  She was a pirate type and she had a bunch of pirates that accompanied her.  I don't recall if the ship "flew" or not, but it might have.

I voted for a bunch of them (nearly all of them!) as I have personally GM'd most of them using V&V.

Fantasy works really well for V&V, though to up the danger I usually have the PCs lose their superpowers when in this setting.  I've even converted a Conan adventure to V&V before.

I checked pirates, but haven't actually done that one as a complete setting.  I've had Red Fury show up before, but doing a full on Pirates of the Caribbean adventure or setting would be a lot of fun!

Space Opera we've done numerous times.  You can even allow the PCs to have their full super powers, if you want (or you can do like Ranger suggests and limit them to one and gear).  It's easy to make really powerful, galaxy-spanning threats in this milleau.

I recently converted a Boot Hill adventure, and again had the characters powers disappear (as it would have been too much of a cakewalk for them if they had them).  A Western brings lots of unique fun, in that justice is handed out in a completely different way as compared to modern.

We just recently got done doing a post-apocalyptic run (many adventures), and we've tried Gamma World before as well.  It's one of the more bizarre and interesting settings to explore.  Mutants, monsters, and radiation can make it dangerous even to superheroes with many powers!

I checked other historical... for '30s style heroes/Call of Chthulhu/Indiana Jones... I think this is a great departure thats got a lot of everything except too much tech... and even tech could be good yet clunky (vacuum tubes and transistors, etc...) Cheesy

Fantasy. I still love the AD&D second edition from the 80's.

Pirates. Waiting to see how that one comes out. Gaargh.

Feudal Japan. OK based off the name here you may have guessed I loved both Fantasy and Feudal Japan. Hell I even tracked down a Japanese girl and got married to her.

Space Opera. I would like to see something with no powers but with some tech. Combination laser pistols and swords. Some armor or defensive tech to keep you alive. If anyone has ever read Simon Greens "Deathstalker Series" you know what I am thinking about.

Western. See any comments that say "Shut Up Red". We have had a lot of fun with that game.

Future Setting. Not a Gamma World type for me. I would rather something like "The Postman" setting. I always loved Palladium Rifts story lines but hated the fighting system so I have tons of books for the ideas and never played ever.

Earth Historical. I would actually like to play one of my existing characters (Dick Dante) in this timeline for a few adventures.

Non Powered Vigilantes. This is a lot of fun if you have never played this way. Just trying to keep alive and do your small part to make things just a little better. Really makes your choice of skills important as you will rely more on them than anything else. I find myself doing more Roleplaying this way. I guess maybe I wanted to be an actor in a past life......

I cold easily see V&V being used for some type of pulp/adventure setting, or a Golden Age setting (little if any super powers). Or some sort of Supernatural/Occult setting in the late 19th/early 20th Century. Or say V&V by Gaslight? I might even get around to stating out some of the pulp villains I've got sitting on the back burner like Gen. Chang and the various Chinese Tongs; Tick Tock the Clockwork's Man, and his army of Tin Men; or the criminal organization the Black Hand.
