KING FOR A DAY... (Read 1511 times)

	This accidentally got started here: http://www.villainsandvigilantesforum.com/public_html/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=... It is now WAY off topic so I figured we would move to a new thread. The topic over there seems to have become "If I were King for a day, I would change 'X' about V&V". It's also where we can talk about how you use "POWER X" to get "EFFECT R", or various weaknesses you have tinkered with. Weaknesses: A game called Big Eyes, Small Mouth (anime/manga rpg) had a boat load of them. Many boiled down to "Special Requirement" or "Phobia". Keep in mind that V&V weaknesses are really broad. A Skeleton in the Closet manifests as a "Phobia" - the fear that the Skeleton may be revealed, or it may manifest itself as odd behavior (effectively reduced charisma). Many Government agents have "Special Requirement" - they can't just go fight baddies without permission from the boss (a special requirement). Another example of "Special Requirement" is an "Oath" - there as certain things the can't do because of his oath (Angel - vampire TV show - had a good example; Angel is a vampire who refuses to feed on human blood, thus limiting his powers). Elementals/Benders: Either Mutant Power, or (what I use) Solid Illusions that manifest as dirt, water, etc... OR Ice powers and substitute the desired "stuff" for ice - I did this with paper in "Power of One". Just a couple of thoughts there.

	I had a whole list of changes I'd like to see made to V&V., most of them being tweaks to exiting powers/abilities, or modifications to unbalanced powers (Ice Powers). The only major change I proposed was adding a Willpower stat of some sort, and basing mental abilities on it. I'll see if I can pull up the list, and post it here.

	If I were King for a Day . . . . . . I'd grant full rights of ownership back to it's creators . . . and then give them a treasure room of gold coins to spend the next year updating and adding to a full . . . V&V Universe Handbook (with stats for all our old favorites like Freedom Eagle, Axiom, Stormbringer, Gauntlet and Mouser)

	As king, I'd reinstate the superhero origins from 1st ed. I use my house rules for them now, but I think a chunk of the superheroic origins flavor got lost when it disappeared.
