Ok guys need some help here as I have had a brain freeze, plus being a huge six million dollar man fan; I am basically stuck.

I need your input on how you think a cybernetic character should work and what power limits would you suggest.

These suggestions will help me for my 3rd V&V book submission and the characters name is Cyber Girl.  Wink

What are you trying to do with her? You thinking of powers similar to the Bionic Man/Bionic Woman? The Bionic Six (loved that show), Cyborg of the Teen Titans?

Thats just it, I am so familiar with all of these characters and I want Cyber Girl to be new and unique, but I cant get past what I know about all the listed above characters. There has to be something thats not been done yet and I just need some ideas to get me rebooted (lol) . What I don't want is a cybernetic iron man type character. Wink

Thank you in advance for your help.

You could always roll randomly and see what you come up with.

I think you want to look at the power of Bionics, mostly, but you may want to consider looking at Android (or Robotic) body, depending on how much of the character is artificial.  There's been a lot of discussion here before on these powers, for instance, here's some on Bionics.

There was also a thread (somewhere on these forums, but I can't recall where) about some of the differences between Bionics, Robotic Body, and Android Body, as people saw them.

When it comes to Bionics/Cybernetics I think of the characters I previously mentioned. For Android body, I think Red Tornado, Vision, Data, etc. Robotic Body I think Robot Man, Box, even characters like Red Ronin.

Okay here are few suggestions for Bionics/Cybernetics:

Eyes: Heightened Senses: Anything from Telescopic or Microscopic vision. They could also grant bonuses for reducing range penalties.

Infrared Vision, Ultraviolet Vision, or Thermal Imaging allowing the character to see in the dark, and the the thermal Vision would allow the character to track heat sources. The down side is that IR and UV require some sort of light/illumination source and the thermals could be overwhelmed by strong heat source.

Enhanced/High Definition Vision would grant a to hit bonus.

Analytical Vision would allow work like Weakness Detection

Polarized Eyes would protect the character against bright/blinding lights

Ocular Implants could be used to things like enhanced hearing granting the character detect hidden bonuses. The character could pick up Ultrasonic sounds, or Parabolic Hearing to basically zoom in on sounds or hear things at increased distances.

Artificial Immune System granting an END bonus or making things like Poison/Venom less effective.

Artificial Adrenal Glands let the character get a boost to their STR, END, AGL, they could double their % chance to wake up, or roll twice.

Artificial Circulatory System would double their Power score.

Nanite Infused Circulatory System would act as regeneration healing damaged organs.

Computer Enhanced Reflexes would give the character an AGL bonus.

Reinforced Skeletal System & Joints would give a STR bonus.

Cranial Implant and Jack would allow the character to download software upgrades directly into his brain. Need to know how to fly a helicopter, download that skill.

Artificial lungs act as a limited form of life support, filtering out contaminants from the air.

Other organs could be replaced so the character no longer needs to eat or excrete waste.

Weapons could be implanted, things like some sort of optic beams (lasers - Light Control, Heat Beams - Flame Powers, Force Beams - Force Field, Disintegration Beams, etc.), Retractable Blades, firearms, you name it.

Magnetic Clamps allow the character to cling to metal.

Retractable hooks/clamps that would prevent the character from being knocked down or moved.

Computer jacks

Artificial Skin that acts as armor

I could go on, but these should give you some thing to play around with.

YES! Cyborgs!

The nice thing about Cyborgs (usually Bionics, but sometimes Android Body or Robotic Body) is they can be very powerful, but may also have substantial weaknesses (Lightning Control, Magnetic Powers,

A manga (yeah... I know) called "Grey" has some interesting Cybernetics. Not much like Steve Austin or Jamie Summers.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/grey/v02/c010/

But there are also cats like Doctor Octopus, Omega Red, and to a limited extent Wolerine and Archangel (metal wing version) in the normal Comic Book World.

So when you say you want to do a Cyer-character, you have thrown the door wide open.

Lots of helpful info here, and I thank all of you for your input. I completed 4 characters over the weekend and Cybergirl is now on deck.

Here is what I finally came up with, after many changes and adjustments. Cybergirl is the muscle on her team.

let me know what you think and be honest, I have artificial thick skin as well.

Powers:
Cybernetics – right eye, left arm, both legs, skin, and skeletal system
1.      Cybernetic Visual Cortex – right eye -
A.      High Definition Vision - range = 30” 150’ , +2 to accuracy rolls, PR= 1per use
B.      Telescopic Vision – range = 50” 250’, x8 on detection rolls. PR= 1per use
C.      X-ray Vision – range = 50” 250’, PR= 1per use

2.      Cybernetic Neuro-linked left arm & hand – Advanced micro-fusion traxtin generator type red 127a, 2000 watts continuous power source
A.      Heightened Strength B  -  +15
B.      Paralysis Beam (palm) - save is % roll vs endurance score. PR= 1per use
C.      Disintegration Ray (index finger) – range = 30” 150’, 1d20 damage, PR=2 per shot.
D.      Implanted USB Hub Interface (ring finger) – holds 2-terabytes of storage.
3.      Cybernetic Neuro-linked Bipedal Assembly ( both legs, complete) - Advanced micro-fusion traxtin generator type red 139b, 5000 watts continuous power source
A.      Cybernetic Enhanced Reflexes -Heightened Speed - +700” 3,500’, new move rate = 793” 3,965’, + 23 to initiation.
B.      Cybernetic Enhanced Reflexes -Heightened Agility B - +15
4.      Micro-Translator Chip (brain) – provides the ability to understand and communicate in all known languages can learn any new language after 24 hrs of uninterrupted study.
A.      Heightened Intelligence A - +10
5.      Cybernetic Skeletal System – advanced light weight steel alloy that does not impede movement, cybernetic circuitry along with her autonomic and central nervous system are grafted to her skeleton.
A.      Heightened Endurance B - +15
6.      Armor (skin) – artificial advanced neo-synthesized skin.
A.      Armor – ADR 75
B.      Nanite Infused Circulatory System – regeneration – amount is divided among armor and hit point and an action is required to use regeneration- regenerated amount = 5 per action spent , unable to regenerate from magnetic based attacks.
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 205 lbs.                Basic Hits: 5
Strength: 29 (14)            Endurance: 33 (18)
Agility: 31 (16)                     Intelligence: 26 (16)
Charisma: 12            Hit Points: 215

My first thoughts are..

Wow!!!  She's pretty powerful!!!!   Shocked

Are there any weaknesses or drawbacks to offset the characters power level?

Yes, but since she will be going in a new V&V book I am limited on what I can post about her.

Yes, she's quite tough!  The only thing I think is a bit overpowered might be the Paralysis Beam.  Is it range = 1"  Does it attack as Paralysis Ray?  I'd suggest upping the Power cost (there's a reason it's expensive in the rules), as it's one of the most powerful attacks (will easily fell most targets with a single hit).

Thank you for catching this error - range is 66" 330', PR=7 per use

I'll say this, she is REALLY powerful when compared to previously published characters.

I wish I could tell you more but its all relevant to the story and the adventure in the v&v adventure. Hint she does have some weaknesses .
