Great concept (and look) for Blitz, Gerry!

I can't take any credit for that; alot of these characters are characters that have fallen in the public domain.

I tend to browse through the Public Domain Super Heroes wiki to find cool characters to adapt, then go to Comic Book Plus to read the stories they appeared in. I copy some of the pages with the characters in them, and pass them on as references to the artists. So far, it's worked pretty well

Using public domain superheroes is a brilliant idea.  It's cool that you're doing this work and getting some of them back into the spotlight a little bit!  Cool

Thank you. I wish I could take full credit, but someone else had done adaptions from the wiki for Supers! first edition. However, they only used the info/images on the wiki for their adaptions. It was that person's work that got me to check out the wiki, and start finding the old stories. I also got into Project: Superpowers from Dynamite from there, which is ok, but not fantastic. Moore's Tom Strong stuff is much better.

When I found Comic Book Plus, I was able to read the actual stories (this is a great site if you want to read golden age comics in general).

I like mixing in my own takes on these characters with original characters. I'm planning a roster book of these characters, and have an adventure idea featuring enemies of both the Black Terror and Lash Lightning teaming up to take down those heroes. Should be quite fun when I finally get around to writing it all out

A new original character, though not a new concept. This is Ubermensch, a Nazi villain. A Superman like baddie (of course!)

The Star Ghost pic by Joe really rocked. Inspiring an idea for either the Captain or a totally new character. Always loved Space Ghost and this really brings it mainstream.

Glad you liked it Ranger. I thought the two concepts (Space Ghost & Star Lord's original version) had similarities, so meshing the two seemed kind of natural. I look forward to when Joe gets to finish it. All the cosmic/space stuff is sort of back burnered right now, but eventually he'll get around to them.

Anthony sent me 4 pieces last night. 3 public domain characters, and 1 original. First up, The Black Terror, Golden Age hero:

His sidekick Tim, aka Kid Terror:

The villainous Queen of Evil:

The first member of a group of original Golden Age Villains. Inspired by Sentai Teams, this is a group of Hispanic, Zoot Suit wearing villains. Here is..... Mascara Pachuco!

Add in that he has super strength and slight invulnerability....

Another new one from Anthony: Justin Tyme, a golden age villain.

It's been almost 2 months since I last posted anything. Have a few new pieces to show off. First up, Juan Paolo set me inks on a modern version of Phantom Archer:

Joe Singleton sent me a few new ones as well. First up, the colored version of Blitz:

The colored version of The Glitch:

Star Ghost in his new action pose:

So Red Devil is part of a Soviet super team from the 40's on called The October Guard. I'm having Richard do the other 4 members. Here's his first take on the Russian Storm God, Perun. There will be lots of changes made, so this is not the final image. Still wanted to show it off anyway:

Out of curiosity, why would a Slavic (he is not "Russian" solely) storm God have allegiance to the Communist Party?

Joe sent me 2 more sketches today. The first is for a public domain villain called Rubberman:

The second one is a super powered serial killer called The Glitch. His name comes from him being able to cause glitches on any type of recording him on film/video. I got the idea from one of the stories in the horror film anthology V/H/S:

So what can Rubberman do ? Name implies stretchy guy, but sketch makes me think more a Ditko gymnast or Ditko Speedball bouncing-around guy. Great name.

As I'm not really a fan of GI Joe, I didn't use anything directly from it as reference material. Part of the look was inspired by a high tech ninja from a movie simply titled "Ninja", and somewhat from a bow wielding character from the video game Crysis

Here is his entry on the public domain supers wiki. He basically is both a bounce around guy and stretchy type from the story with him in it (which I did read on comicbookplus.com)

Jacob all ready finished the two new pieces I ordered. First up is Bobcat. He's related to two other villains: The Golden Age and Modern versions of Lynx, a villainess in the vein of Catwoman.

Leech was a character I created using the random creation rules in ICONS. Dan Houser (the line artist for ICONS) did the original art for him, but I wanted the character to look more menacing. I think Jacob did a good job making him look menacing....

Glad you like them. I hope some day (once all the legal issues are cleared up) to release some of this stuff for V&V. In the meantime though, these characters are appearing in supplements for other systems

Thanks Majestic!

In an earlier post, I presented a zoot suit wearing villain. I've got the rest of the team being worked on by two other artists. One of them, Dan Houser, sent me this uncolored piece for the green suited member of that team:
