Best Superhero Costumes?

In comics, which superheroes do you think have the best costumes? Since some characters have changed costumes over the years, it might be necessary to mention which particular era of costume you liked best.

For example, saying I like Janet Van Dyne's costume as Wasp won't be very specific in and of itself.  Smiley

Well, I liked the Wasp best in her costume that was a black high-necked bodysuit with the yellow glove and boots and a sort of inverted yellow V from collar/neck to midway down her chest, circa 1984-1985 and drawn by the Buscema/Palmer team. Love those Roger Stern-written issues.

You have to give credit to one of the masters of costume design, Steve Ditko!

Spider Man and the Blue Beetle are two of the best costumes.  And the Question, how scary is that?

I am scary, very, very scary.

Hokey smokes, I was just about to say Ditko Spidey and BB as well as Doctor Strange and the Creeper and Hawk & Dove. He had a flair for costumes that were more than just trunks over bodysuits with chest insignia.

I always liked Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman costume, especially the '70s-set seasons.

Firestorm is a nice design... Yellowjacket was pretty cool first time I saw it... Moon Knight could be compelling. I really dig the Jean Grey as Phoenix; for that matter Cockrum was always pretty good at developing simple but dynamically designed threads...

I like Steranko's takes too.
And Walt Simonson's run on Thor totally defined for me how Asgardians should look.

Silver Age Flash, Atom, and Green Lantern are sleek and streamlined and altogether awesome.

Captain Marvell without the buttons is an all-time classic.

Hawkman with the hawk-face mask!

Not sure if Metamorpho's trunks count as a costume but he always looked cool.

Wally Wood's all-red Daredevil is undeniable.

Speaking of DD...why has no one mentioned Paco Ramon alias Vibe? He could make a blind man see.

Yeah.  Me too. Her costume was the only thing I liked about that show but, for some reason, it was enough to keep a teenage boy interested.

The Fantastic Four in Original, Freedom Foundation, and especially the new Red colored costumes.

(You can see the new red costume done by Art Adams here: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/02/13/art-adams-shares-new-fantastic-four-piece...)

Mostly because they were the only team wearing team colors. It made sense, and it was cool, as a whole "sum is greater than the parts" sort of thing. It makes sense that the Avengers all have different costumes, they are a collection of equals in a team.  Conversely the Fantastic Four is a family or a team comprised of individuals. Subtle but important differences IMHO.

Love Fate also. Not a big fan of the "red" FF. It's  not I have a problem with change and Adams is a fav. The red blends too much with Johnny and Ben primary color schemes and I think the blue contrast makes a better "look".

Garish as it is Captain America is timeless but I loved Kirby even his weird New Gods stuff

Totally agree on Ditko as an early master of costume design and as classic as it is only characters like Namor and the Thing should be wearing trunks.

Never mind me though .... I'm a fan of Aquaman  Cool

Never found Captain America garish.

I have a special love for the 1960s Comet revival and his rainbow helmet.

There should be a worst costume poll. My vote would go for that time Hawkeye was wearing a headband and a skirt. I think it was the very late '60s or early '70s after he stopped being Goliath and returned from the Kree/Skrull war.

Speaking of really good costumes: Wally Wood's redesign of Daredevil was incredible.

And whoever gave a Black Widow her all-black bodysuit with the red widow symbol on the belt and her wristband stingers did a heck of a job. I never understood the grey outfit she wore for a while in the '80s. It looked good but made no sense given her name.

I think the gray Black Widow costume was a step back. Frank Miller I believe started that one... Seeing Natasha in Marvel Fanfare 10-13 was great.

Yes. Her Champions-era costume was much better than the gray outfit.

Doctor Solar: Man of the Atom had a pretty cool look.

Dynamo and NoMan were pretty neat, too, and Iron Maiden was even better.
