A class I'm taking is covering the topic of physical movement among people: direct vs. indirect, fast vs. slow, and heavy-footed vs. light-footed. It got me thinking today how this might apply to comic book characters. The various combinations appear below, along with a few heroes/villains who I think might fit some of these categories.

direct, fast, heavy-footed (Flash, Golden & Silver Age)

direct, fast, light-footed (Silver Surfer)

direct, slow, heavy-footed (Juggernaut, Frankenstein's Monster)

direct, slow, light-footed (Vision, while phased)

indirect, fast, heavy-footed (Toad, Bouncing Boy)

indirect, fast, light-footed (Spider-Man)

indirect, slow, heavy-footed (Man-Thing)

indirect, slow, light-footed (Cloak)

Direct means that the character tends to move in a straight line from point A to point B. Indirect means the character tends to sway, meander, or bop around sideways on their way from A to B.

I went back and added a few more examples.
