Ley Lines are meandering lines of energy.  They are extremely hard to find, that is, unless you know how to look. 
    They are formed when other dimensions of existence meet. They are like tectonic plates of the multiverse.  From a ley line, if one is specifically trained, can slide from one plane of existence to another.  Or one can walk the line and gather power, or it can induce visions. 
   This is what the  Sasquatch do, they are Ley Walkers, and roam the various planes as gentle giant nomads.
   When two lines meet, a nexus is formed.  the more lines that converge, the more powerful the nexus.     Nexi are used by powerful sorcerers as fuel for magical rituals or spells.
     Some ley lines or nexi are temporary, passing in seconds.  Some are more stable, and can last centuries.  Some are seasonal, as the planes move in impossibly complex mathematical patterns. 
     In fact there is an advanced mathematical discipline founded by the College of Seven Days Work, that try to predict where nexi form and for how long.
     There are tales of people who cross from one world to another without even realizing it. Poor Rip Van Winkle took a nap on a particularly potent nexus. Some cities, such as Shamballa, or Hybrasil are totally cut of from our world by a ley line that forms a circle.  Brigadoon is a story of a city that is hidden from us, but do to the orbits of planes, comes back to us every ten years.
    Some scholars follows trends.  These softer places permit dreamers to roam closer to the Imateria, so they say, and due to this, influential artists,  bands, trendsetters or just the new "cool" place can be a location of a ley line or nexus.
    Many think that Las Vegas was formed on a nexus, as was Hollywood, Manhattan, Paris.   London in the last half of the 60's was a proven nexus.   Scholars think that Seattle, Washington hosted a short lived nexus in the late 80's.
    Washington, DC was founded along a Ley Line, and the monuments, starting at the Pentagon, or the Prime Cauldron, and  the  culminating in the Washington Monument, or the Grand Spire as its known in some Occult Circles.
   The Philadelphia Ley Line was particularly powerful at one time and it cracked the Cauldron built to harness it.  Even so, the Liberty Bell is still a powerful artifact.
    Even with all this,  the Study of Ley Lines is more of an art than a science.   Anton Borgia is working on a computer algorithm designed to map out all current ley lines known to exist.  He claims that the patterns of ley lines may finish out what he likes to call "the Language of Creation".    
      He may be a nut, but he is rich, and he hosts the best orgies.
