The goddess Selenae is a popular goddess of the moon in Arcadia.  She is always portrayed as silver hair, but her skin changes from fairest white, to jet black with the phases of the moon.   

  Like the moom, the goddess herself changes.  In one of her aspects, she is the protector of the night,  in another, the keeper of mysteries.

Like all of Arcadia's gods, she was and is.  Never born, and never dying.   She IS the moon, but sometimes she can take on a human aspect as she wishes.

She is stern, but kind.  Vigilant, quick to anger, but even quicker to love.  She will protect her faithful and punish those that harm them.  Even those who dwell in darkness respect Selenae, as she goes down below the horizon and learns the secrets of the dead. 

  She is the patron of lovers,  poets, fishermen, hunters and farmers.  She is the lover of Megaster, God of the Sun, who chases her throughout  out eternity.

She has three distinct sects of her religion.  The first, and most popular, are those that worship her as the Protector of the Night sky.  They are kind and just.   Strong and virtuous.

They tend to favor white or silver clothes.  They use discs or shields in their worship.  In combat, they favor blund, roundish maces, but no law forbids a blade.

They pray for Selenae's blessings which come to them accordance with Selenae's interests.

She grants invocations in the following areas; healing, light, protection, life, time, truth, divination, love, mysteries, and nature, in that order.

Her priests/priestess must pray every day, protect those who ask, and spread the faith of Selenae.

When one becomes a priest, one becomes connected with the divine power of the goddess.

After a full lunar cycle is spent in fasting, prayer and studies,  the head is shaved bald and during the full moon, one is consecrated with mithryl into the order.

Selenae's priests can see by moonlight.
(Heightened senses x2, x3 depending on the phase of the moon) and can cast away undead.  Cd20, the success is how much damage the undead take per use.  Can repel undead C times a day.

A priest can pray for spells.  They can have up to C+ Level spells at their command.  However, they can only cast  one tenth of their charisma plus level plus one per day.

Each month the priest can pray for a new selection of spells.   Each new spell has a Cd100 chance of being granted.

The third, and by far the smallest sect is that of Mother of Change.

This sect worship the ever changing nature of Selenae and seeks to transform the word as she herself is constantly transforming.  They wield crescent blades, which they use in their worship, and conjure elementals to aid them in their constant quest to alter everything.   A small sub sect rejects the idea that Selenae is a god of Arcadia, but a Lord of Chaos, come to the world to bring quakes, storms and devestation.  This group sees it as their duty to test everything and everyone, to see who is the most adaptable.
