Professor Andrew Smith was hired by CHESS to monitor the axe of Thrym.  He would spend untold hours checking to see if any changes happen.

Enter six weeks ago.   He was assaulted by persons unknown.  He was smashed into the containment glass, and unwittenly grabbed hold of the axe.  He didn't die.

He suffered frostbite.

He was only released from the hospital two days ago.  FBI agent Will Powers and his "Metaforce" were sent to investigate the crime.

Without a manifest of what is supposed to be in this CHESS black spot,  its hard to know what exactly was taken.

Will Powers went to shake hands with Mr. Smith when he was overwhelmed with memories. He saw what happened to Mr. Smith.  Unfortunatly , he succumbed to the influx of memories and collapsed.   The Metaforce thought this was an unprovoked attack, and reacted as such.

Mr. Smith, now codenamed Tempest,  instinctively summoned a windstorm.  With the dessert sands, this proved to be a enough cover for Smith to fly away.

Haywire jumped to catch the fleeing Tempest and missed, landing near the cave that they were supposed to investigate.    He was attacked by fugitive metahuman, Slammer.

Slammer, the Brass Monkey, the Orb, Shatterman, and the Shrink, were all looting the abandoned CHESS cache site.   How they learned of this is unknown.

The Shrink proved to be deadly, as he psychoanalyzed  Haywire.  With each passing syllable of psychobabble,  Haywire's head was compressing, causing him severe  damage.

Will Powers teleported to help his teammate and was fired upon by the Orb's lasers.

Singulary rushed up to the Shrink and let loose with a volley of punches.  She launched him into the Orb's field, which repelled him to a small cactus, which caused a needle to pierce his eye.  He collapsed into a puddle of his own blood and spinal flood.  She just smiled and asked if he enjoyed his physical therapy.   Snappy Patter is part of being a super hero, y'all.

Singularity went toe to toe with Slammer buy both were too tough and did more damage to themselves than to their opponent.

Mindfuck fired his pistol at the Orb, who had personal force fields.    Tempest flung lighting from a thunderstorm he summoned.   This proved fruitless as the the force field also blocked them.

Shatterman fired blasts at Singularity.  She bum rushed him but she phased right through him.  He screamed a sonic blast, but failed miserably and repelled himself down the slopping hill.  He hit a wooden crate with a biohazard mark on it.   It blasted out with lighting, and revealed a cool metal box.

Will Powers teleported INSIDE the Orb's force field and fired guns at his helmet.   He then teleported them both to the top of the Black Mesa.    The orb summoned the Orb O Tron, a giant nuclear robot.  He commanded it to destroy Salt Lake City.

Tempest  generated a tremendous lighting arrary to stop this, but the lighting just passed harmlessly though the robot.  They both realized it was an illusion.

Tempest hit Shatterman with lighting,  and Shatterman fleed the battle.

Haywire flung the Brass Monkey god knows where, putting him out of the fight.

So how to deal with Slammer?  So far nothing worked.  Thank god he was slow, or no one would have survived.   He was so heavy, Haywire couldn't even lift him!

Mindfuck  hit him with terror.  It worked.   It seems Slammer's mind was his weak spot.  Slammer jumped away, scared of everyone.

Will Powers teleported back over, leaving the Orb alone.   Realizing he couldn't fly, he was stuck up on the mesa.

They investigated the two crates. One was 12 feet long, the other small, about the 2 foot by two foot.

They were then attacked by machine gun fire.  The Orb's ship, the Iris, was a huge eye shaped craft of advanced design.   Singularity jumped in front of the bullets,  and Haywire power blasted the craft.

The Iris released magno clamps and tired to take the smaller crate.  Will Powers grabbed the crate and teleported away with it.  Singularity grabbed the recoiling cables and let herself be pulled into the ship's cargo bay.

Once inside she was attacked by lazers that amputated her right arm!

She nearly panicked when she realized that it was also an illusion.  She was barley wounded by the attack.   Orb was sneaky mean with his illusionary powers!

She bashed her way into the upper deck and beat the holy fuck out of the Orb, who was sans his power helmet.

She figured out how to pilot the ship and flew it down.

Meanwhile, Hayware grabbed the 12 foot crate and threw it at the Iris.  He missed!

The crate hit the ground a mile away and burst in an explosion of ice and snow.   It seemed to expand rapidly.

Inside the cave, the Fog of War and Murder came out.  They said its a waste of time staying and looting as the world is going to end and fled.

The group boarded the Iris and flew to see if they could contain the expanding ice.   They held back as the freezing temperatures proved to be too much.

Hey, to be fair to Haywire, he threw the crate way before Singularity was in the ship. It was his gut reaction after being shot at by it at the start of the encounter.

Also, I'm very glad to see Akira is going by Mindfuck in the story writeups rather than Akira or Mindgames Cheesy

Mr. Lancaster,

Please be advised that Special Agent Powers will not be referring to you with any Profane names in your Identity.

It is just not called for nor is it acceptable in Polite Society

The NSA, the Air Force, the Army along with the FBI converge in the area surrounding the Black Mesa.  All non essential personal are evacuated.  Heavy ordinance issued to fire at the expanding ice.  While crumbing pieces off, it doesn't stop the growing glacier.

After two hours of heavy shelling, it becomes clear that another avenue must be explored.

Meanwhile in Salt Lake City,  Hail Rimes runs from his bros and steals a car. He doesn't know why, but he is compelled to drive south.

Mindfuck spent all this time studying the alien tech of the Orb's ship The Iris.[i]

It was during this time that Frostbite, a seven foot tall being of muscle and ice flipped over cars while running towards the growing glacier.  He didn't seem to be in his right mind.  Granted, he was a wanted criminal, but this didn't seem right.

Also, Chillaxe, the younger brother of the deceased hero, Coldsteel, also a fugitive, appeared.   They both wanted to great the oncoming ice.

Singularity tackled Frostbite.  Then Tempest shot him while swooping over him.   And it was followed up by a MASER blast from Mindgames from the Orb's ship.

Frostbite returned with a blast to William Power's face.   Singulary traded blows with Frosbite, both standing their ground.   Frostbite seemed to be able to reform his frozen armor every few seconds.

Tempest formed a thunderstorm and sent a cascade of lighting to hit Frostbite.   At this point,  Hail Rimes showed up.  He also displayed ice powers and encased Frostbite with permafrost.

Chillaxe summoned lighting with his frozen ice axe and tried to counter Tempest's command of the weather.

William Powers was able to calm Frostbite down with a talk.  Much to everyone's surprise,  Frostbite regained control of his sense and took off.

Mindgames used his emotional control on Mr. Rimes and Chillaxe.  Both were inflicted with terror.    Rimes ran away, while Chillaxe panicked and trapped himself in ice.

Now that things were calm, the team could refocus on Thrym's axe.

Agent Saunders from the NSA showed up and assumed command of the entire operation.  She forced all the members of the Metaforce to sign non disclosure forms.   After the documents were signed she introduced everyone to Maria Glennon.  She was the granddaughter of Charles Nelson, AKA  Captain Atlas.

She called her Poppop on a walkie talky and he came crashing down from the sky in seconds.  He formed a small crater from the impact.  He called her Chelsea and Maria corrected him, "I am Maria, Poppop.  We need you to break the ice and snap the axe in the middle."

Captain Atlas looked older, more tired,  more confused than the team saw him on tv.   Also he had a motorized scaffold like system of servos on his suit.  Still he looked impressive as hell.

Captain Atlas flew and smashed the glacier to pieces.  Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.   Once again, Earth's greatest hero saved the day.

Or so it seemed.

Captain Atlas was  frozen stiff holding Thrym's axe!

Agent Saunders couldn't permit herself the luxury of despair.  She ordered Mindgames to fire the MASER at the axe.  He complied.

After a series of pin point blasts, he moved up to torpedoes.    He only stopped when he saw he was doing more damage to the frozen Captain Atlas than the axe.

Out of desperation,  William Powers teleported to the axe and grabbed it.    He was able to adapt to the cold, and mentally he was able to resist the mental call of the axe.

He saw the end of all things.  The heat death of the universe.  The point when Entropy prevails.  He saw what Thrym was, the embodiment of Entropy.   The final destroyer.   Nothing could destroy this axe,  it was the omega.   Only the alpha could do it....what did he remember from mythology?   Ice and Fire?  Thrym and...Surtur?

Anyway, he snapped out if it.   He couldn't pull the axe from Captain Atlas's hand.  Atlas let go.   He was still alive.

William Powers was now freezing to death.   He could resist it, for now...

Captain Atlas broke free of his ice and offered to take the axe back.   William Powers saw that the man was suffering from advanced dementia.   That must be what the servos did,  they limited his strength.  Captain Atlas, the strongest man in the world,  couldn't hold back his own might!   No wonder his granddaughter pulled back from him.

How sad, he thought....

William Powers  was linked to his team.  Singularity thought to him, " It can't freeze what it cant touch."

Mindgames knew what to do.  The problem was, he didn't want to do it.  He flew the ship down and William Powers got on.  They programed the ship to hit warp speed once it escaped the Earth's atmosphere.

They counted to 100 and Powers teleported them both back.    Tempest was nearby to catch Mindgames as his velocity was still super fast.

William Powers teleported over the Great Salt Lake.  He hit the water and then teleported back when his velocity was spent.

During this time,  Agent Saunders was killed by another ice villain, Winter.

She stabbed Saunders with an icicle.  Mr. Rimes blasted Winter with an ice blast, and Singularity bashed her unconscious with some ice blocks.

It began a few hours earlier when Agent Will Powers noticed Patty Dane acting strangely. Light and Sweet Coffee and a Double Chocolate Donut for a Diabetic? This was not right.

Actually it had begun a very, very long time before this but that is another story.

Harold Krogan, AKA Haywire, was taken in for Debriefing by Special Agent Patty Dane. He was removed from the scene of the new Ice Apocalypse and brought to a large tent being used a central operations for the FBI. Patty did not speak during the walk but she did turn back to Harold and smile comfortingly several times. This seemed to put a very nervous Haywire a bit more at ease.

They entered the large tent and Special Agent Dane shooed the rest of the Agents out of the command center. "Please Mr. Krogan, have a seat, this will not take long at all."

Harold came back cleared of all wrong doing and as far as Agent Dane could see, all was an innocent error made in the haste of battle.
