Magic Circles

Magic Circle is a basic magic spell taught to apprentice magicians.  It is used as a boundary.  The circle traps magic inside the circle or traps magic outside the circle.  Due to the infinite regression shape of the circle, it does not dilute the magic, which a magic square or a magic triangle would do.

Magic circles are used for a variety of reasons, and if fact its probably the most useful of all magic spells.

In combat, a magic circle can be used to protect an area from magic being used against the caster.  It can be used to contain a summoned being.  Be careful you don't call up that which you can not contain!

Magic Circle (VSM)   The caster quite simply draws a circle.  Pr3=1 per foot diameter.  It lasts until broken by either the caster of circumstance.

Rules:  Make a skill roll and note the successes.   The strength of the circle is then noted.

Strength of circle is caster's W+ L+ Success.

The caster notes the strength of each circle.

This is then modified by the type of circle.

A drawing in the dirt is -15
A drawing on a solid surface with chalk, pencil, etc -10

A painted circle on a solid surface, with quality paints, brushes: -5

A proven complex circle ( Solomon's seal, etc..):+0

Metal forged circle: +5

Metal forged complex circle:+ 10

Metal forged complex circle with rare reagents:+15

This is a guide, not a hard rule.
