A Few Bad Eggs

Will Power’s empty casket was buried with honors.  No body was recovered.  Really how could there be?  The explosion registered on the Rictor Scale.

The Bureau ordered everyone to mandatory therapy.  Agent Patty Dane told the Metaforce that they were no obligation to continue working for the FBI, as they were all hired under a consulting contract.  With this she passed along a packet of information.    The Metaforce were being aggressively pursued by Quentin Mechanics, a research and development firm that specializes in computers and robotics.
They decided to listen to their offers.
Each was offered a ten million dollar sign in bonus, and all rights to merchandise based on them.   They were offered a base, a ship, and apartments.   All they had to do was sign, and move to Science City Arizona.

The team, eager to move on after the death of their mentor, took the offer.

After a whirlwind publicity tour, the team were off on their first mission.   They were to sneak onto Island Zero and recover a Kaiju Egg.

Honeybadger, Skip Tracer, Sleetstorm, Singularity met their new teammate, Utensil.

Utensil is a synthetic lifeform, or synthoid.  Its job is to act as a butler and gopher for the heroes.

The team left from Sand Diego in a submarine.  After a few days they made their way to the Sea of Japan.  They were assured they could get close enough to the island to row a few rafts.  They said the cost of the bribes for the Russian, Japanese, Chinese and American navies was substantial.
They made their way to the Island without incident.  However, they did encounter a camouflaged unknown life form.  They attacked it, and killed it without much effort.
Next they found a female Russian soldier running from something.  She said her squad landed a few weeks ago to map out the island.  They were captured by a space alien who imprisoned them.   It would release one solider at a time to hunt.

She was the last survivor of her squad.

The team offered their protection but said they were to get an egg first.   She was terrified and wanted off the island right away.

The Alien predator attacked and Singularity pushed it away with a gravity warp.

Skip Tracer stayed with her in the raft to keep her from leaving with it.   They found the Bad Sheppard right where he was told he would be.
The Bad Shepherd was the name giving to an enormous humanoid who protected the eggs.   He was powerful enough to heard giant monsters.  The team proceeded with caution.

The predator who hunted the Russians ran up to attack.  The Bad Shepherd gave him a look and it backed off, and kept a watch.

Skip aimed and fired.   The Shepherd didn’t seem fazed by the hit.  Singularity tried to trap it with gravity but it, also, was unfazed. Sleetstorm fired a cone of ice at it, but it all melted before it hit him.

All that was left was a claw attack from HoneyBadger.   She raked him across the shoulder as Skip hit his staff with a bullet.   This enraged the Bad Shepherd who flung sand at Skip, critically wounding him and killing the Russian.

The team grabbed and egg, and pushed it down an ice slide made by Sleetstorm and fled.   The Shepherd didn’t pursue.

Honeybadger had to perform emergency surgery on Skip in the submarine.   He is expected to recover fully.

The group recovered one 2 ton egg along with several smaller eggs.   Quentin Mechanics will have much to study for years to come.

I am scary, very, very scary.
