Given his contributions to the Death Duel and Dr. Apocalypse modules, and spinoff work on the Elementals series, Bill Willingham's contributions to V&V can't be overlooked.

What do you like BEST about his influential artwork.

A showcase of V&V covers appears here: http://paratime.ca/v_and_v/vav_covers.html

I honestly had a hard time voting, because I think he does great at all of these things, and it was tough to pick any one over the others.

It's hard for me to pin down what I like about his stuff.  It's a little bit "cartoony" (i.e., not completely realistic, like Alex Ross) and yet it looks good enough to still simulate what he's drawing (in other words, his proportions, details, etc. are outstanding).

I like his style, his movement, his attention to detail, the emotion he puts into things, and a whole lot more.

If I had to sum it up in one sentence, I guess I would say his ability to tell a story with his art is what I like best.

F.Y.I., the best drawing of a PC I've ever seen was the work Bill did on my first V&V character, Nightstalker.  He even wrote a note on it how he thought the costume looked awesome!    Smiley  I wish I still had it!    Cry

I couldn't vote for one thing either.

What I liked best about Willingham's V&V art is that he gave us comic pages for most of his characters, not just beauty shots. He took advantage of the unique opportunities that a comic book rpg provides.

Agreed - good point on those cool one page "comics".  Those were the best (as were the backs of the modules)!

I don't know what I liked best.  But I did like his human anatomy.  His Superman had ears that stuck out, and it sort of made him less Super and more MAN.  It made him look vulerable but you still knew he was a powerhouse.   His inking  his own pencils was the best.

I am scary, very, very scary.
