Mythological Conversions

As much as like Madam Medusa with living hair from the Inhumans, I thought it would be fun to take a stab at how a villain with powers closer a mythological medusa might fare.

MEDUSA
Sex: Female
Level: 6
Side: Evil

POWERS
1. Body Power:
Medusa's appearance is so frightening that anyone who sees her face must defend against Emotion Control or turn to stone, range = 9", PR = 0. Victims save vs. Charisma (d100) once per day to recover (optional).  Averting one's eyes as part of evasion will help defend against petrification when approaching Medusa from the front (see facing modification diagram, rules p. 23). Opponents who attack Medusa from the side or behind are unaffected, unless she turns around.

2. Heightened Expertise: two types
A. Medusa gains +4 to hit with her petrification effect when she spends one action trying to stare someone to stone.
B. She also has +4 to hit with her archery skill. Medusa routinely carries a bow and arrows (rules, p. 25).

3. Heightened Endurance B: +12

4. Pets (variation): Four asps grow from Medusa's head and can bite opponents up to 1" away. (Use viper stats, p. 46.) Each snake rolls initiative, attacks (at fourth level), and takes damage independently from Medusa, The asps give Medusa a 30% chance to detect danger.

5. Prejudice: no one likes Medusa.

Weight: 130 lbs.
Basic Hits: 3

Strength: 13
Endurance: 26
Agility: 15
Intelligence: 18
Charisma:  18
Reactions: -3 from everyone

Hit Mod. (1.2)(3.0)(1.6)(1.3) = 7.488
Hit Points: 23
Healing Rate: 2.1/day
Power: 72

Accuracy: +2 (or +6 with heightened expertise)
Damage Mod.: +2

Carrying Capacity: 312 lbs.
Basic HTH Damage: 1d6

Movement: 54" ground

Inventing: 54%
Inventing Points: 9.0

Not yet, waiting for the new Clash of the Titans movie for ideas. Kraken from the preview looks pretty impressive.  We just re-watched Pirates of the Caribean, the second one, and the battle with the Kraken is pretty impressive in that one as well. Wink

It has got me to thinking, other than the Doomsday Robot in Death Duel, which I think usually ends up more of a "dungeon crawl once the heroes find the entry ports" are there any other "Giant" type battles in any modules?  (I know Polarboy will have the answer.)

Well, there is the legendary Kraken itself (as you mentioned, it looks amazing in the Clash of the Titans trailer).  It is a Pet for the character Bluegill from Super-Crooks and Criminals.

And then there is the Cthulu-like beast from the magazine adventure (Different Worlds #35) called "The Star Devourer".
