I might actually have to add the PDFs to my order when I order the giants.  I'm becoming more and more partial to my ipad.

That is good work...

I think we need to consider a comic book-style cover for my upcoming western! How good are you at drawing tumbleweeds?

Hey, I just wanted to throw this out for anyone who might be able to help.

Alabaster Knight has told me that FGU would be able to provide the first edition rulebook as a downloadable pdf if he could get a reasonable quality scan of it.  This is the only V&V product that I don't own, simply 'cuz I haven't been able to find it (otherwise it would already be available as a pdf).

So if anyone can help out with this, it would be greatly appreciated!

Let me clarify that Scott indicated this could be possible; that conversation was a long time ago in relative terms, but I will reapproach him to see if he'd still be willing to do that.

EDIT: I also want to say for the record we should keep in mind there may be contractual limitations on how that gets done, so...

My Western is in the process of being written, however, my goal is to complete it this year, hopefully along with two other books.

As for the book itself, it's a modern day Western-themed adventure. It will resemble Signs of the Zodiac in scope - I plan to include the gang, lairs, adventures, allies, enemies, and opportunities for synergy with other products.  Wink

Great idea, Ramble!

As for the scan of the 1E Rules, I'd be glad to help (provided it's a-okayed by FGU).  But right now I don't have any decent scanning software.  I just downloaded a reputable (free) version of one, but it still doesn't produce a very good quality scan, IMHO.  I used to have the full-blown Adobe Acrobat (which worked wonderfully), but have since got a new computer.

My western adventure features...

A cowboy leading a crusade against civilization...
His horse who believes it's unstoppable...
An angry farmer who has become a ticking time bomb...
A disgraced teacher who is learning how to rob trains...
A blind man seeking revenge without lifting a finger...
A lost rancher with powers from the great beyond...
A hooker who owns the Heart of Gold...
A hapless hobo turned horticultural horror...
And a farm girl who has a secret our government will kill for.

It's a book about how if we aren't careful, our outcasts can become outlaws.
And yes, it's a V&V book about Supers, and it's a Western.
I think you'll like it.
There, that's my teaser. Wink

It sounds like you have enough to pitch FGU.  Dude, you seriously need to talk to AK about this and find out what you need to do.

No need, Ramble knows exactly how to pitch his projects and to whom.  He introduced himself in the introductions thread as Darren Tenor and so far I've drawn two of his books.

Looking forward to your western, whether I get to draw it or not. It sounds fun! But I'm also looking forward to the WWII stuff also...
Sidenote Opinion: The best aventure title for the war stuff was in the Marvel Super Heroes RPG: "All This and World War II". Tough to top that illiteration.

Hey Display.
Yes, I've published two books this year, and I always speak to Mr. Bizar with my pitch before I begin writing for FGU. I wouldn't want to build an adventure and then find out that FGU already has one like it in the pipeline, and that my work will just sit in my den, and not see the light of day.

Anyway, he liked the pitch for my western, and so I'm working on it. But I also have some WWII books to build that I've pitched and committed to. Cheesy Yahoo!

Thanks AK! Couldn't have done it without your skills!
For adventure titles, I look for pretty short titles or evocative titles that draw the audience in - I think they have more impact on the page and they don't over power the artwork.

The WWII titles I've settled on are:
HOMEFRONT
WORLD WAR II SUPER SOLDIERS
THE FRONT LINE

WW2 books? Please tell me they can all be in one giant? If so, then I might actually buy one, and not just various pdfs!

Funny enough, I'm working on some Golden Age stuff myself, though for other game systems. Too bad this stuff isn't written yet, as I'm starting a Golden Age game tonight with John and Oni

I'll be working to get them all out as soon as possible, though trying to be faithful to the game system, the actual history of the War, and other V&V authors has been a challenge.

I expect / hope to have my Western and two WWII books written for Jan 1. The artwork, layout and publishing are not within my control, so when you'll actually be able to purchase them is another question entirely.

Good luck with your sessions, and I'm willing to answer questions about the content i'm writing if you have any burning questions.

Ramble,

That's cool. I'm actually using some villains that are in public domain, so I'm doing the stats using what little info is available. First session went well, barring minor mistakes on my part (been awhile since i've run the rules)

AK told me to come up with an "overview" of the plot from start to finish, and then start using the storytelling to fill in the details.

This has helped me pretty well.

Wow.  Add my Age of Allies campaign and it looks like WWII has made a V&V comeback ... so to speak.

I'm with Gerry on making them all available as a Giant. Not a PDF man myself.

I don't have a problem buying them in pdf format. But I haven't bought any giants because I don't buy all the releases, and all the giants tend to have something I'm not interested in. If all the WW2 books were in one Giant, I'd buy it in print. It also makes sense theme wise to keep them all in one.

Well... I've committed to writing 3 books, and you can expect them to be released around the same time. So, as long as everything comes together well, I think a WWII Giant is quite possible.

That's good news. So I gather Homefront covers playing back in the US, and Frontline is for playing on the battlefield (or behind enemy lines)? And Super Soldiers covers various nations Super Soldier programs?

After speaking to Mr. Bizar about the production schedule, he did say a single Giant (9 or 10) is where it's looking like the WWII stuff would fall. Hopefully he tells me that's still the way it goes down when the time comes.

I prefer the PDF files as a) no shipping (in Australia), b) you can buy just what you need and c) most of the Giants have stuff in them I already have and don't really want to buy the whole thing to get 1 module.

Kind of a shame you can't create your own "Giant Pack" to buy.  Flat cost for the Giant, 4 modules or add ons per pack and you just select what you want in it and that is what's posted.
