Gestalt/Mind Meld

Gestalt/Mind Meld: The character has the ability to act as a central channel through which others may combine mental abilities. The characters attempting a mental gestalt must be in close proximity to each other for the meld to be effective. While melded together, anything affecting one of the linked minds will affect the others in contact with it. All characters participating in the mind meld pay the PR cost. R = 1", PR=2.

Example: Mr. Mind and Tellus' mind's are melded together when Tellus is struck by a Vibratory Blast, for 7 points of damage. Since Mr. Mind is melded with him, he'd also suffer 7 hit points damage.

My thought would be physical attacks or things that affect the physical body directly might maybe stun the linked people due to the intense emotional response. Mental attacks could definitely be directly transmitted. Just my 2 cents worth.  Smiley

Hmmm... that sounds reasonable. At the moment, I'm thinking anyone linked to the person being attacked would be affected as though they were hit with a Paralysis Ray attack. I'll tinker with it a bit more though. And while I'm thinking about it, I'd suggest calling the damage transfer "Psychic Backlash". Sound good?

LOL.....that works for me. It is certainly what I have seen throughout fantasy and sci-fi literature, games, and movies. Definitely something the characters would want to be careful with.

Looks very cool.. one question I have is how do they have a +1 damage mod? With 11 AGI and 14 INT that seems incorrect...

Having lost my original copy of the rulebook from 1980s in the mist of time, I'd have to say either the chart was slightly different or the author made an error

I just double-checked (the 2.0 rules) and it should be +0, rather than +1, so it's a typo.

This Gestalt thing would be a really cool device for other things too.

Supervillain leader with Telekenetics add a level per (or of the) cultist to increase his abilities maximum power.

Maybe add each cultist Carrying Capacity and Power Points for the Force Field power?

etc

When I ran the adventure, I worked around the typo it by saying that the cultists had trained in Damage (either HTH or Psionic Blast, as the case may be).

That makes sense; I may have done the same thing (it's been so long since I played it I don't remember).
