The term "Mystery" derives from Latin mysterium, from Greek mysterion (usually as the plural mysteria μυστήρια), in this context meaning "secret rite or doctrine." An individual who followed such a "Mystery" was a mystes, "one who has been initiated," from myein "to close, shut," a reference to secrecy (closure of "the eyes and mouth[“]) or that only initiates were allowed to observe and participate in rituals. The Mysteries were thus cults in which all religious functions were closed to the uninitiated and for which the inner-working of the cult were kept secret from the general public.
From the Merriam Webster’s Dictionary.
We can conclude from this definition that Doctor Richard Dante is now the keeper of many secrets. When he found himself at the loci of the White Event, he changed. Outward, his hair became white and his irises are now golden. But more so, he changed innerly.
The White Event not only changed many things, it created things, and it moved things. Some of those things created were what Borges called “Alephs”. An aleph is place where one can see all of creation. Doctor Dante was hit right in the face with one!
This sudden infusion of Omniscience’s, caused his mind to reel, and he wandered in a haze, spouting prophecies and talking about advanced translumial physics. He was taken in by local family in India, and was treated with kindness. They regarded him as Buddha, until the day he arose from his funk, then they were kind of annoyed with him.
With no phone, no money, no magic rings, Dante wasn’t even sure where he was, what with not speaking the language and such. Things were looking gloomy and then it got worse.
A party of what looked like Indian officials came to him. They told Dante that they needed the help of the merciful white Buddha. They said it was urgent. They said the antichrist has been born.
