"Cataclysmus" is such a great super villain name.  Just the right amount of cheese while inspiring fear.  Looks like a super locust "I come to devour every last resource from your planet; to leave it a dry husk, as I have left countless worlds dessicated in my wake.  Foolish heroes, you cannot stand against the ravenous might of Cataclysmus!"

Well he's kind of a cross between Zorak (Space Ghost enemy) and Annhilius (FF foe), but with an origin tied to his nemesis, Star Spectre

I just had some commission art done for a re-boot of an old character. Dom directed me to Joe Singelton and I will definitely be using his services in the future.

I love both Zorak and Annhilius.  Zorak - especially on the Brak show -  is more evil.

I started reading the Annihilation storyline, as some of that is an influence on things Cataclysmus does. Not exactly the same, but the inspiration is there.

Never watched the Brak show of SG:CTC. Just wasn't my thing.

Anyway, more art to come!

Totally Joe's call. He tends to redo things if he feels it didn't work the first time. He's going to do a new version of Cataclysmus, as he feels the current image is lacking.

here's some preview art from an artist named James Shields. These are more public domain characters I'm adapting.

First is The Thinker and an Aldebaran:

And this is Stellar Man and Zog of Mars:

A collage of 3 new images I got from Brian Brinlee. They are 3 deities who make up a group that are modeled on the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

The three in this image are Aray (War), an Armenian God, Lamashtu (Pestilence), a Mesopotamian Demon/Goddess, and Bres (Famine), a Celtic God/Fomorian

These are members of The Thal, a race descended from Neanderthals. Their ancestors were abducted from Earth by an alien race that died off. They are starting to expand into the galaxy:

And, a Cataclysm Swarm War Hive:

Some new stuff from Joe. These aren't final colors, and are just flats, but it gives you an idea of where they're going after the sketch phase. The alien on the left is from the same race as D'anar. Joe originally did this image as the legion trooper, but that race aren't average troops. However, I found a use for it (along with some other older sketches Joe and I felt didn't work for the original concepts they were sketched for). He's part of a group in the vein of the Guardians of the Galaxy

The purple suited figure in the middle is an agent of Dirae, an all female organization.

On the right is Major Meteor. Inspired by Captain Comet, he's a hero from the 50's who left Earth for the stars, and has become somewhat of a legend among the races he's encountered.

New takes on the horned alien and Major Meteor, along with an Elder Evil, it's servant race, and the Queen Bee of the Antarrans:

Here we have an unnamed villain, Jolt, the Dirae agent in red camo and an unamed vigilante in armor:

Glad you like them Majestic.

Here's four more:

A renegade queen who rebelled from the Cataclysm Swarm, a suit of powered armor, an Aztec Mummy and the vigilante Mister Midnight

Annihilus is a major influence on the character, so that's intentional. There's major differences, but yeah, you're right on that they are similar

I bought some stock art, and Joe has been coloring them. This art appeared (iirc) in the first D20 based superhero game, The Foundation. It wasn't well received, but I knew one of the people involved in the project.

I liked the art because many of the pieces have an early Jeff Dee vibe to them (imho). What do you guys think?

Joe had to do a bit more work with these. They were in black and white, and being older scans, he had to print them, rescan, and then do coloring.
