Sally Nile screamed and then cast out the ghost of Omnipotep. Even Mr. Universe was not sure how she did this. She then mumbled and twirled her fingers. Captain Warlock thought she was having a seizure.
Mr. Universe then gazed into infinity. She saw past molecules, into the hearts of atoms, and next door, but to the left, not right, I want to make that clear, of the very quarks themselves. He saw a link of cosmic energy. A wisp of Nyarl. It was connected to an orichalcum idol carried by Sally Nile.
He told her to relinquish the totem of all evil to him. She hesitated, but opened her jacket to pull out the bust of Nephrim Ka, the Black Pharaoh. Mr. Universe took it and opened a portal to the Vega System, and stepped into it.
Captain Warlock, a little bit worried that he might be out of his league, pondered the situation. He saw that under Sally’s jacket was a girdle. Not a regular girdle that held your figure together, although he did seem to think that this one did that job rather admirably, hey she just had a baby a few months ago… but a metallic one, and one with strange circular glyphs. She was protected by magic! And she was not in the throes of a seizure, she was casting a spell! The surprising CHESS agent was a force of her own, the Captain thought.
He didn’t have time to think long, as the water of the newly created New Nile was rising into a vaguely human shape. A human shape with huge fists. Omnipotep animated the water turning himself into a Water Elemental!
Mr. Universe miscalculated. Either that or the Nephrim Ka Idol threw him off. Instead of warping to Vega, he warped into the heart of a black hole. He used the Power Cosmic to ward off the deadly environment, and absorbed some of the kinetic power generated by the tremendous g forces of the infinite gravity well. Fully powered up, he then blasted the idol with a super high frequency followed by a pattern of Tran’s mutational energy. The idol was destroyed.
And so was the black hole!
Mr. Universe went tumbling at a superluminal speed. He did the unthinkable for him. He panicked a little.
Captain Warlock was blasting away at the Water Elemental. He was fearing that he was not doing any good against it. Sally Nile was shooting more Crocodile Men that Omnipotep created from captured tourists.
Mr. Universe heard a voice. It was Mother. She must have been pulled through the gravity warp and blasted away with him when the idol was destroyed. She was so soothing, so inviting. He wanted to nap.
He resisted, and opened a warp back to the earth. At the last moment he took the Mother Stone with him.
He saw Captain Warlock fighting a desperate battle with the Water Elemental. He did the first thing he thought off, he turned the Water Elemental to ice.
Captain Warlock then blasted the ice, smashing part of the Mad Pharaoh’s arm and shoulder off. Warlock then grabbed the ice shards and telekinetically tossed them at the rest of the frozen body.
It was then that the connection to the idol was shattered. The ice slammed into the normal mortal body of Harold Zinn. Zinn gave one quick look of surprised and died in a frozen hail of icy death, and bloody hilarity.
Sally Nile still looked scared. She said she called her husband, as she thought only he could destroy the idol. She said she needed quit to call off the charm of summoning.
This was hard to do as impossible structures made possible by a mad man’s imagination were falling around her. Warlock put her in a telekinetic bubble and she managed to undo the spell before the great Dragon, and father of her son, Fafnir arrived.
Captain Warlock was assured. This woman IS a force to be reckoned with.
The due stayed and Mr. Universe undid most of the damage that Omnipotep caused. It was 17 hours later that they got a call that something is causing destruction near Toronto. They warped there to find Modi.
But it wasn’t Modi. It was a hideously deformed God of Strength. He had fleshy tubers growing from his chin, and small wings sprouting from his back. The infection he received from the Great Chthulu had finally overcome him….
