If you had to start a new superhero campaign and it could not be set in the approximate present, when would you want the campaign to take place?

Colonial Times:

The Patriot vs Beefeater!
Iron Ben (Franklin in armor) vs The Royal Redcoat

Can the Colonists enlist Apache Chief to aid their struggle for Independence?

(Of course, it could be set from the British Colonial view point):
Watch the Tower of London put those rebels across the pond in their place!  Cheer Leftenant Benedict Arnold as he undergoes the Super Soldier Serum to become Captain Britain!

If visiting an alternate timeline, would you (GMs) alter the player's powers in any way?

For instance, Magnetic Powers in the Old West would give a player an incredible advantage, etc.

Great question.  I agree that all of them could be fun.  I went with Distant Future, as (like Kylstron said) superpowers might not seem so super (depending on how powerful technology is).

@Phrenzy: I would like to subscribe to your newsletter, please.  Wink Where do I sign up for this campaign?

@DN: Great point about the Old West.  I played through a Boot Hill adventure with our heroes, but I stripped them of their powers first.  Just the opposite of the far future, I image superpowers could make someone even more powerful in such an era.

Why would magnetic powers give more advantage in the Old West than any other metalworking era?

A larger percentage of iron usage during this period, I would assume.  I'm not a historian, but it seems reasonable.

I would have thought more ferrous metals now.  Wrought and cast iron were certainly more prevalent then but also more things were made out of wood than anything else.

Bronze Age, now there's a problem.

I went with Future. The next world scenario and "World" I make up will be the Imperium.

PC's can either be members of the Royal families. rolling 4d6 for all stats and 6d6 for weight, if male of course. No powers. Either that or roll as normal for stats and powers from the Psionic table only.

An Empire spanning a galaxy with 11 Homeworlds. One Imperial and 10 others for the 10 royal houses.

I already have the Fantasy campaign "The Ravenswood"

As a PC. The Weird West is awesome

Gangster Era. The Green Hornet, the Shadow. pre-golden age.
