Patty Dane didn’t like it.  She never does.  Liking things is pretty difficult for her.  But to actually work under the wing of the CIA?  That leaves her biting mad.
She signed the papers and Will Powers little troop, affectionally called the Power Pack, were off to Greenland.

Since they proved effective at neutralizing Lapis Lazuli, the powers that be thought it would be good to deploy them against other rogue members of the Octagon.    Dr. Graymatter and Domina were last known to be hiding in a crevasse in a glacier in the heart of Greenland.

They were outfitted with cold weather gear and were off.

They found the crevasse without incident and repelled down until they hit solid ground.   They planted lights and pegged the trail with reflectors so they could find their way back.    They were slowed down by the narrowing tunnels when they were attacked by the Meta villain Happy Jack.   

Happy Jack was a deranged mass murderer who loved to slice people open with knives.  He laughed while doing so.   He pinned so they couldn’t use teamwork on him, and he stabbed at them at his leisure.  He was eventually shot by Will Powers and dropped on the ground.  They stepped over him and found that the tunnel opened into a large chamber. 

It was warmer in here and the ground was muddy. It was constantly dripping from the icy roof.    The far end of the chamber looked like a Viking longhouse preserved in the ice.    Haywire opened the doors and they were assaulted by the smell of decaying flesh.

The entire long house was covered in entrails, blood and bones.    Inside was a man in red and gold robes, a woman in black leather holding a leash to a very large man in leather with a ball gag in his mouth, and a skinny naked man with a head easily the size of his body? 

The woman mentally projected the words, “help me” to the team.   Singularity dove on the man in the robes, who burst into flames.  He called himself Master Burner and enveloped Singularity in fire.
Will Powers was downed by a mental attack.   He looked and Dr. Graymatter hadn’t moved.  Domina backed into a corner, dropped the lease and said, “Help me again” into the minds of the heroes.

Ogre, the man in the bondage gear, rushed out to hit Haywire.  They traded punches, not sure if they were harming each other.

Will powers fired at Dr. Graymatter, who used telekinesis to deflect the bullets.  Dr Graymatter moved the bones and guts with his powerful mind and sprayed everyone with a blast of bone fragments and teeth.
Haywire knocked Ogre down.  Ogre then swung his fist to punch, but he slipped one some intestines and exploded when he hit the ground.   

Singularity   had finally over taken Master burner.  She took his robs to cover herself as his fire burned all her clothes off.   Mindfuck was shot in the shoulder by Happy Jack, who, to everyone’s surprise, was not dead.    Will Powers shot Happy Jack, taking him out for good.   

Haywire punched Dr. Graymatter in the head, popping his skull like a waterballon.     Will Powers then turned and fired at Domina five times, killing her.   He said she was attacking him mentally.   No one could corroborate his story.

Searching the guts and tissue for evidenence, they found a normal looking Dr Graymatter and what looked like Dr. Graymatter’s grandmother. 

Haywire found a candle that was unlit.  They counted 22 lit candles around the long house, but this one was unlit.  It was yellowish gray, and smelt funny.    Singularity and Mindfuck told him not to light it.   But he did.

And the entrails quivered, and the fat from the remains all smeared together into a roughly human shape.

It formed a mouth and said, “Butcher, baker, CANDLESTICK MAKER!”

Something told them to get out of dodge.

Mindfuck noted that they never found the great sleeping intellect that he had detected earlier.

Back at Langley, they found out that Dr Graymatter had learned to separate his ID, his Ego, and his Superego into separate bodies.   They killed his Id, and the ego and superego were still intact.

They found files on a being called the Candlemaker.  It was a powerful demonic entity that made bodies for itself from human fat.   

They also learned that the sleeping intellect was called Yig, the Reptile god of Rage and Lust.   It’s best to let sleeping gods lie.
