Here's a variant option for Speed Bonus. Instead of increasing the character's speed, this option decreases the character's falling speed by d10 x 10" per turn. So instead of falling a base rate of 100" per turn, the falling character subtracts Speed Bonus from 100, even perhaps even while unconscious.
