Hey guys, I've been working on this awhile, it's an extended background for Power Chord.  I'm attaching it as a word doc, it was too much to post.

I hope you like it...

Thunderbolt

Here's Thunderbolt, a vigilante with a nasty attitude problem.

Name: Thunderbolt            Side/Affiliation: Good
Identity: Shawn West
Sex: Male                        Age: 21
Experience: 0                  Level: 1
Training: Strength
Skills:

Area Knowledge (INT) – Empire City            Driving (AGL)
Investigation (NT) “Dad was a Cop”            Mechanic (INT)
Firearms (INT) “Dad was a Cop”            Observation + 30% to Perception
Profession (INT) – Mechanic                  Stealth (AGL)
Street Wise (INT)                        Knowledge – Martial Arts
Language (INT) – Japanese            Knowledge (INT) -Criminology “Dad was a Cop”
Language (INT) – Italian                  Knowledge –Underworld/Crime

Powers/Abilities:
1. Electric/Lightning Control: 2d8 damage, R=32", PR=4; PR=4 to attempt to take control. PR=4 to attempt to short out.
2. Magnetic Control:
3. Flight: 256 mph, PR=1 per hour.
4. Heightened Expertise: +4 to hit w/All Weapons
6. Armor B [Kevlar/Metal Woven Mesh Armored suit with metal inserts, Armored Duster with White Cloak, Mask] w/2 powers: ADR (48). Armor has a SR of 4.
a) Enhanced Senses (Radar Sense): a) Enhanced Senses: Radar Sense - A very fine conductive non-ferrous metal weave is woven into the inside of the armor.  With his Magnetic powers Thunderbolt has learned to 'feel' with this mesh and detect the differences in the magnetic fields and electric static in the very air with the non-ferrous material as a 'zero' point to differentiate from other magnetic variances all around him at once.  The mesh effectively works to make his suit act like a magnetic resonance grid overlaying a map of his surroundings in a MRI scanner fashion. 4 x Perception score, negates penalty for attacking from back/rear arc.

Weapons/Equipment:
1. Pistol (.50 Cal Desert Eagle)” +3 to hit, 1d8 damage, A x 6 range (taken from a drug dealer Boss)
2. Sword (Katana)” +2 to hit, +1d6 damage (taken from a Yakuza Hitman)
3. Shuriken (Carried in internal duster pockets): +3 to hit, HTH+1 damage, 16” range; 9 carried.
4. Kyogetsu Shoge 'Hooked Blade & Weighted Chain' (ninja weapon - +2 to hit, HTH+1d2, R= 16” / [Weight/light Club] = +2 hit, HTH+1 (16”) 80’ft cable (ninja weapon - except the weighted chain is a metal cable 80'ft in length with a 4,000lbs capacity) - 2 carried.
5. 1lbs Iron Discus (attached/inset into shoulder epaulets, forearm bracers, and shin guards.  They are detachable and can be manipulated with Magnetic Control... very similar to Cosmic Boy's 'Legion of Superheroes' four 'magno balls' attached to the chest of his costume) - 6 carried.

Weaknesses:
1. Vulnerability (Water) - Shorts out powers and grounds his electricity through his nervous system if his powers are in use.  In a vastly understated word 'ouch!'  Not an issue... if his powers are not in use.
2. Low-Self Control (Inability 'or is it unwillingness? to "hold Back" damage} He has rage issues... like many abused children and his lightning powers are fueled by rage making them somewhat hard to control when he is angry.  'like Lighting Lad of the Legion of Superheroes'
3. Secret Weakness: Vulnerability (Magnetic Attacks): Unknown to Shawn since he generates electrical and magnetic fields... his body counts as a 'metallic' object for the purposes of being manipulated by Magnetic induction or controlling fields.  Of course he could attempt to counter such attacks with his own Magnetic Control... but it would certainly catch him off guard being thrown about like a piece of steel wool in a MRI scanner.

Notes: Thunderbolt's costume is his Armor.  His Costume, Duster, Cloak are all composed of a woven metallic mesh that is manipulable and repairable by his Magnetic control powers.  The Armor consists of two powers of its own.

Weight: 185 lbs.                  Basic Hits: 3.6                                  Agility Mod: -
Strength: 16                  Endurance: 16
Agility: 16                        Intelligence: 14
Charisma:14                  Public Standing: Good: +1/Evil: -1
Hit Mod: (1.4) (1.8) (1.1) (1.6) = 4.4352
Accuracy: +2                  Damage Mod.: +1
Hit Points (16):                  Healing Rate:
Power (62):                  Hero Points: 0
Carrying Capacity:  527 lbs.            Basic HTH Damage: 1d8
Movement Rates: 48” ground
Perception: 40% (70%)                  Intuition: 14%
Inventing Points: 1.4                  Inventing: 52%
Origin: Mutant
Legal Status: No criminal record

Appearance: Hair: Once Short curly Auburn Brown (Now Pure White and straight worn long in a pony-tail or braided - Think the X-Men's Storm look); Eyes: Hazel (Golden/Amber when angry); Ethnicity: Black American - mixed (Mother was Caucasian, Father is Black American), Skin: Dark Brown

Costume: Maroon & Black Kevlar/Metal Woven Mesh Armored suit with metal inserts, Maroon & Black Armored-Metal fiber Meshed Duster (never buttoned closed) with White Metal-fiber Meshed Cloak, Mask Black with white 'spidy' eyes... open topped so hair hangs loose.  Maroon Metal Shoulder Epaulets, Gorge, Forearm Bracers and Shin Guards with 6x (1lbs) yellow Iron discus inset.  White Thunderbolt on center chest.  Katana back-sheath left shoulder draw, .50cal Desert Eagle in left shoulder holster (right draw).  2 x Kyogetsu Shoge carried in duster's outside pockets and 9x Shuriken carried in duster inside pockets.

Origin/Background: Shawn West gained his powers when retrieving his sister from a drug-rave party he and Sarah were kidnapped by unknown assailants and taken to a junkyard and given experimental drugs of some sort.  Shawn managed to escape and turn the tables on their attackers.  In their escape there was a violent thunderstorm going on at the time and Shawn and Sarah were both in contact with a crane assembly that was struck with lightning.  It triggered something in Shawn's genetics... perhaps exacerbated by whatever drugs they have been given... and he did not die.  Shawn's powers manifested then and he took out a brutal vengeance on the kidnappers.  THUNDERBOLT was born.  Sarah was rescued and returned home... but it was unsure what if any powers she has gained.  Sarah is not talking about it.  From that point on THUNDERBOLT waged a one man war on the drug-dealers and organized crime families in Chicago... leaving behind his signature burned in the surroundings or formed from twisted metal lumps of the criminals own weapons and or whole vehicles.

Personality/Character Traits: A Black American vigilante with a background in punishing evil-doers with a harsh but fair hand.  He does his best to look after his younger sister Sarah West (sister, age 15) High-School student, “Wild-Child” (Wt: 115, HT: 5'2"; Mutant Power '?')and his abusive alcoholic father Thomas West (father, age 48) Ex-ChicagoPD Officer, 'Now' Security Guard at GENOM ™ Pharmacuticals – USA branch.

Other Information: Shawn has taken extensive training in martial arts before his powers and especially now with them ...trying to improve his efficiency as a street vigilante.  The lightning seems to have improved his reaction/reflex time and Shawn's martial skills have far outstripped what he used to be capable of.  Shawn is now ambidextrous.  His Tae Kwon Do - instructor (Master Youn Pi Choy) has noticed and suspects something has dramatically changed in Shawn.

Cool Character...

Dom,

I can setup a blog for the new group if you wish, let me know, I'm quite certain Jeff could do a better job, but I think he's busier than I am at this time...

Thunderbolt Complete.

@Dsummer: This is so I have a full version of Thunderbolt on-line as I don't always have my Character Sheet near me.

EDIT:  Can anyone explain WHY I can't upload Thunderbolt as a PDF?  It keeps telling me I have exceeded my 'Maximum upload directory?  Skyhawk was uploaded as a pdf... why can't I do the same?

EDIT 2 [09-04-2010]:  WooT!!! I have uploaded TB as a PDF file so it can be looked at online and not downloaded!

It is not you.  The forum is getting close to being full.  There is a difference in size between the pdf and the word file.

Looks like it is time to start moving attachments to that backup site.

I can see Jack Frost perfectly fine...he's on the previous page of this thread!

By the way... I really can't WAIT to finally get to meet the other heroes...especially Jack Frost... he's kinda near Thunderbolt's age...well sort of. Smiley  And their both kinda like elementals of their particular energy type... in a way. Smiley

Hey Guys I have a pre lim drawing of Stalker that a friend did for me. If I post it can some one take a crack at getting it closer to what I envisioned? I would like the cowl/hood slightly deeper and add his helmet inside the hood

Gents, give me a couple of weeks, and I'll see about getting some commissions done. I'll use the pics to give my artist an idea of what you want the final product to look like.

I've been commissioning sketches, as I pics of the various characters. So far I've had Power Chord, and Jack Frost done. I'll eventually get around to the others.

I had to put them on hold as it's hard enough for me to keep track of what I've got going on now. It'd be a little different if I were able to run a sit down face to face game, where things are a little more manageable. But, who knows, at some point I might be able to squeeze a couple or all of them in.

So far i am really loving the blog! Reading the adventures of not only my own character, but everyone else as well. Had a slight lag in it on my end due to the fact that I was running a Champions game and a web for blue booking it as well. I can really appreciate Dom's issues of time and it is indeed easier to do more heroes when you sit down face to face at a table. My table game was only once a month and in conjunction with the web site was more work than I had originally thought it would be. Props to Dom for keeping at it.

I have currently put my hero game on hold. I am in discussion with a player to help take over some of the GM duties. I used Stalker in that game as an NPC. He had more experience in that version but it did help me to flesh out who he is behind the mask more than I had originally. My current group of players does tend to delve into the human/non-hero aspects of the genre so I have a better grasp how I want to develop him in interactions in Empire City.

Thanks for letting me continue to play V&V with you guys keep up the great writing and I look forward to more great story developed by Dom and my co players
