Character sheets for the various characters participating in the game. For your convenience, here's a PDF version of the Empire City Character Sheet. I can also post a MS Word version, for anyone that wants one.

And after much delay, here's Skydivers character, the energy manipulating martial artist, Silver Star.

And here's a picture of Silver Star's Motorcyle (I'll let him figure out a name, but I'm partial to the Silver Streak).

Cargo Cap.: 200 Ibs.

Here's a copy of the schedule worksheet.  I can't do an excel/word file here, so it's .pdf.  If you would like one in another format, let me know and I'll email it to you.

Here are some rough drawings my cousin did for me, to give you an idea of what Power Chord looks like.

He wears theatrical face paint similar to something a member of KISS might wear, magically enhanced of course to be water/wear proof, along with a body suit, covered by a large flowing cloak.

My biggest regret was that he didn't sign these copies, I will have him do that in the future.

You know I finally took a look at these characters and they are great. My favorite has to be Jack Frost. Very nice concept and custom Power design.
Close second is Silver Star. This is also a great concept and I find it very easy to visualize.
I also like Lightwave. Train your weight up and you will have some awesome staying power!! The Ht. Str. and Ag. combo is nice with her other powers.
The illustrations for Power Chord are also quite good.

A fine group of heroes one and all.  Grin

Yes, but he did post the picture of my character!

Scroll back up to see it.

I had fun doing that (using one of the many superhero generators and then modifying it in Paintshop Pro)

Did the bottom of Slik's sheet get cut off, or am I having technical difficulties?  His background just ends with independant, and there is no physical description...

Hey guys, I've been working on this awhile, it's an extended background for Power Chord.  I'm attaching it as a word doc, it was too much to post.

I hope you like it...

Thunderbolt

Here's Thunderbolt, a vigilante with a nasty attitude problem.

Name: Thunderbolt            Side/Affiliation: Good
Identity: Shawn West
Sex: Male                        Age: 21
Experience: 0                  Level: 1
Training: Strength
Skills:

Area Knowledge (INT) – Empire City            Driving (AGL)
Investigation (NT) “Dad was a Cop”            Mechanic (INT)
Firearms (INT) “Dad was a Cop”            Observation + 30% to Perception
Profession (INT) – Mechanic                  Stealth (AGL)
Street Wise (INT)                        Knowledge – Martial Arts
Language (INT) – Japanese            Knowledge (INT) -Criminology “Dad was a Cop”
Language (INT) – Italian                  Knowledge –Underworld/Crime

Powers/Abilities:
1. Electric/Lightning Control: 2d8 damage, R=32", PR=4; PR=4 to attempt to take control. PR=4 to attempt to short out.
2. Magnetic Control:
3. Flight: 256 mph, PR=1 per hour.
4. Heightened Expertise: +4 to hit w/All Weapons
6. Armor B [Kevlar/Metal Woven Mesh Armored suit with metal inserts, Armored Duster with White Cloak, Mask] w/2 powers: ADR (48). Armor has a SR of 4.
a) Enhanced Senses (Radar Sense): a) Enhanced Senses: Radar Sense - A very fine conductive non-ferrous metal weave is woven into the inside of the armor.  With his Magnetic powers Thunderbolt has learned to 'feel' with this mesh and detect the differences in the magnetic fields and electric static in the very air with the non-ferrous material as a 'zero' point to differentiate from other magnetic variances all around him at once.  The mesh effectively works to make his suit act like a magnetic resonance grid overlaying a map of his surroundings in a MRI scanner fashion. 4 x Perception score, negates penalty for attacking from back/rear arc.

Weapons/Equipment:
1. Pistol (.50 Cal Desert Eagle)” +3 to hit, 1d8 damage, A x 6 range (taken from a drug dealer Boss)
2. Sword (Katana)” +2 to hit, +1d6 damage (taken from a Yakuza Hitman)
3. Shuriken (Carried in internal duster pockets): +3 to hit, HTH+1 damage, 16” range; 9 carried.
4. Kyogetsu Shoge 'Hooked Blade & Weighted Chain' (ninja weapon - +2 to hit, HTH+1d2, R= 16” / [Weight/light Club] = +2 hit, HTH+1 (16”) 80’ft cable (ninja weapon - except the weighted chain is a metal cable 80'ft in length with a 4,000lbs capacity) - 2 carried.
5. 1lbs Iron Discus (attached/inset into shoulder epaulets, forearm bracers, and shin guards.  They are detachable and can be manipulated with Magnetic Control... very similar to Cosmic Boy's 'Legion of Superheroes' four 'magno balls' attached to the chest of his costume) - 6 carried.

Weaknesses:
1. Vulnerability (Water) - Shorts out powers and grounds his electricity through his nervous system if his powers are in use.  In a vastly understated word 'ouch!'  Not an issue... if his powers are not in use.
2. Low-Self Control (Inability 'or is it unwillingness? to "hold Back" damage} He has rage issues... like many abused children and his lightning powers are fueled by rage making them somewhat hard to control when he is angry.  'like Lighting Lad of the Legion of Superheroes'
3. Secret Weakness: Vulnerability (Magnetic Attacks): Unknown to Shawn since he generates electrical and magnetic fields... his body counts as a 'metallic' object for the purposes of being manipulated by Magnetic induction or controlling fields.  Of course he could attempt to counter such attacks with his own Magnetic Control... but it would certainly catch him off guard being thrown about like a piece of steel wool in a MRI scanner.

Notes: Thunderbolt's costume is his Armor.  His Costume, Duster, Cloak are all composed of a woven metallic mesh that is manipulable and repairable by his Magnetic control powers.  The Armor consists of two powers of its own.

Costume: Maroon & Black Kevlar/Metal Woven Mesh Armored suit with metal inserts, Maroon & Black Armored-Metal fiber Meshed Duster (never buttoned closed) with White Metal-fiber Meshed Cloak, Mask Black with white 'spidy' eyes... open topped so hair hangs loose.  Maroon Metal Shoulder Epaulets, Gorge, Forearm Bracers and Shin Guards with 6x (1lbs) yellow Iron discus inset.  White Thunderbolt on center chest.  Katana back-sheath left shoulder draw, .50cal Desert Eagle in left shoulder holster (right draw).  2 x Kyogetsu Shoge carried in duster's outside pockets and 9x Shuriken carried in duster inside pockets.

Origin/Background: Shawn West gained his powers when retrieving his sister from a drug-rave party he and Sarah were kidnapped by unknown assailants and taken to a junkyard and given experimental drugs of some sort.  Shawn managed to escape and turn the tables on their attackers.  In their escape there was a violent thunderstorm going on at the time and Shawn and Sarah were both in contact with a crane assembly that was struck with lightning.  It triggered something in Shawn's genetics... perhaps exacerbated by whatever drugs they have been given... and he did not die.  Shawn's powers manifested then and he took out a brutal vengeance on the kidnappers.  THUNDERBOLT was born.  Sarah was rescued and returned home... but it was unsure what if any powers she has gained.  Sarah is not talking about it.  From that point on THUNDERBOLT waged a one man war on the drug-dealers and organized crime families in Chicago... leaving behind his signature burned in the surroundings or formed from twisted metal lumps of the criminals own weapons and or whole vehicles.

Personality/Character Traits: A Black American vigilante with a background in punishing evil-doers with a harsh but fair hand.  He does his best to look after his younger sister Sarah West (sister, age 15) High-School student, “Wild-Child” (Wt: 115, HT: 5'2"; Mutant Power '?')and his abusive alcoholic father Thomas West (father, age 48) Ex-ChicagoPD Officer, 'Now' Security Guard at GENOM ™ Pharmacuticals – USA branch.

Other Information: Shawn has taken extensive training in martial arts before his powers and especially now with them ...trying to improve his efficiency as a street vigilante.  The lightning seems to have improved his reaction/reflex time and Shawn's martial skills have far outstripped what he used to be capable of.  Shawn is now ambidextrous.  His Tae Kwon Do - instructor (Master Youn Pi Choy) has noticed and suspects something has dramatically changed in Shawn.

Cool Character...

Dom,

I can setup a blog for the new group if you wish, let me know, I'm quite certain Jeff could do a better job, but I think he's busier than I am at this time...

Thunderbolt Complete.

@Dsummer: This is so I have a full version of Thunderbolt on-line as I don't always have my Character Sheet near me.

EDIT:  Can anyone explain WHY I can't upload Thunderbolt as a PDF?  It keeps telling me I have exceeded my 'Maximum upload directory?  Skyhawk was uploaded as a pdf... why can't I do the same?

EDIT 2 [09-04-2010]:  WooT!!! I have uploaded TB as a PDF file so it can be looked at online and not downloaded!

It is not you.  The forum is getting close to being full.  There is a difference in size between the pdf and the word file.

Looks like it is time to start moving attachments to that backup site.

I can see Jack Frost perfectly fine...he's on the previous page of this thread!

By the way... I really can't WAIT to finally get to meet the other heroes...especially Jack Frost... he's kinda near Thunderbolt's age...well sort of. Smiley  And their both kinda like elementals of their particular energy type... in a way. Smiley

Well, you've run into one, without knowing it yet, and you'll be meeting a few others shortly, as well as a few of EC villains.

Hey Guys I have a pre lim drawing of Stalker that a friend did for me. If I post it can some one take a crack at getting it closer to what I envisioned? I would like the cowl/hood slightly deeper and add his helmet inside the hood

Gents, give me a couple of weeks, and I'll see about getting some commissions done. I'll use the pics to give my artist an idea of what you want the final product to look like.

I've been commissioning sketches, as I pics of the various characters. So far I've had Power Chord, and Jack Frost done. I'll eventually get around to the others.

I had to put them on hold as it's hard enough for me to keep track of what I've got going on now. It'd be a little different if I were able to run a sit down face to face game, where things are a little more manageable. But, who knows, at some point I might be able to squeeze a couple or all of them in.

So far i am really loving the blog! Reading the adventures of not only my own character, but everyone else as well. Had a slight lag in it on my end due to the fact that I was running a Champions game and a web for blue booking it as well. I can really appreciate Dom's issues of time and it is indeed easier to do more heroes when you sit down face to face at a table. My table game was only once a month and in conjunction with the web site was more work than I had originally thought it would be. Props to Dom for keeping at it.

I have currently put my hero game on hold. I am in discussion with a player to help take over some of the GM duties. I used Stalker in that game as an NPC. He had more experience in that version but it did help me to flesh out who he is behind the mask more than I had originally. My current group of players does tend to delve into the human/non-hero aspects of the genre so I have a better grasp how I want to develop him in interactions in Empire City.

Thanks for letting me continue to play V&V with you guys keep up the great writing and I look forward to more great story developed by Dom and my co players

Flight = PR=1, 272mph

Heightened Expertise = +4 to hit w/All Weapons

Armor B  [Kevlar/Metal Woven Mesh Armored suit with metal inserts, Armored Duster with White Cloak, Mask] = w/2 powers: ADR (48). Armor has a SR of 4.
- Enhanced Senses: (Radar Sense) = 4 x Perception score, negates penalty for attacking from back/rear arc.
* A very fine conductive non-ferrous metal weave is woven into the inside of the armor.  With his Magnetic
powers Thunderbolt has learned to 'feel' with this mesh and detect the differences in the magnetic fields and
electric static in the very air with the non-ferrous material as a 'zero' point to differentiate from other magnetic
variances all around him at once.  The mesh effectively works to make his suit act like a magnetic resonance
grid overlaying a map of his surroundings in a MRI scanner fashion.

Weapons/Equipment:
Pistol (.50 Cal Desert Eagle) = +3 to hit, 1d8 damage, A x 6 range (taken from a drug dealer Boss)
Sword (Katana) = +2 to hit, +1d6 damage (taken from a Yakuza Hitman)
Shuriken (Carried in internal duster pockets) = +3 to hit, HTH+1 damage, 16” range; 9 carried.
2x  Kyogetsu Shoge 'Hooked Blade & Weighted End on Chain'
- Hooked blade  - +2 to hit, HTH+1d2, R= 16”
- Weighted End/light Club] = +2 hit, HTH+1 (16”) 80’ft cable
* ninja weapon - except the weighted chain is a metal cable 80'ft length with a 4,000lbs cap.)

6x  1lbs Iron Discus (attached/inset into shoulder epaulets, forearm bracers, and shin guards.
- They are detachable and can be manipulated with Magnetic Control... very similar to Cosmic Boy's 'Legion of Superheroes' four 'magno balls' attached to the chest of his costume)

Weaknesses:
Vulnerability (Water)  =  Shorts out powers and grounds his electricity through his nervous system if his powers are in use.
In a vastly understated word 'ouch!'  Not an issue... if his powers are not in use.

Low-Self Control  =  Inability 'or is it unwillingness? to "hold Back" damage} He has rage issues... like many abused children
and his lightning powers are fueled by rage making them somewhat hard to control when he is angry.  'like Lighting Lad of the Legion of Superheroes'

Secret Weakness  =  Vulnerability (Magnetic Attacks): Unknown to Shawn since he generates electrical and magnetic fields... his body counts as a 'metallic' object for the purposes of being manipulated by Magnetic induction or controlling fields.  Of course he could attempt to counter such attacks with his own Magnetic Control... but it would certainly catch him off guard being thrown about like a piece of steel wool in a MRI scanner.

Appearance:
Hair:  Once Short curly Auburn Brown (Now Pure White and straight worn long in a pony-tail or braided - Think the X-Men's Storm look)
Eyes:  Hazel (Golden/Amber when angry)
Ethnicity:  Black American - mixed (Mother was Caucasian, Father is Black American)
Skin:  Dark Brown

Quote:  "Justice like Lightning!"

Costume:
Maroon & Black Kevlar/Metal Woven Mesh Armored Costume suit with metal inserts, Maroon & Black Armored-Metal fiber Meshed Duster {never buttoned closed} with White Metal-fiber Meshed Cloak, Mask Black with white 'spidy' eyes... open topped so hair hangs loose.  Maroon Metal Shoulder Epaulets, Gorge, Forearm Bracers and Shin Guards with 6x (1lbs) yellow Iron discus inset.  White Thunderbolt on center chest.  Katana back-sheath left shoulder draw, .50cal Desert Eagle in left shoulder holster (right draw).  2 x Kyogetsu Shoge carried in duster's outside pockets and 9x Shuriken carried in duster inside pockets.  All coposed of woven metallic mesh that is manipulable and repairible with Magnetic powers.

Origin/Background:
Shawn West gained his powers when retrieving his sister from a drug-rave party he and Sarah were kidnapped by unknown assailants and taken to a junkyard and given experimental drugs of some sort. From that point on THUNDERBOLT waged a one man war on the drug-dealers and organized crime families in Empire City... leaving behind his signature burned in the surroundings or formed from twisted metal lumps of the criminals own weapons and or whole vehicles.

Personality/Character Traits:
A Black American vigilante with a history of punishing evil-doers with a harsh but fair hand.  He does his best to look after his younger sister Sarah West (sister, age 15) High-School student, “Wild-Child” {Wt: 115, HT: 5'2"; Mutant Power '?'} and his abusive alcoholic father Thomas West (father, age 48) Ex-ECPD Officer, 'Now' Security Guard at GENOM ™ Pharmacuticals – USA branch.  A very bright intelligence and well read, often makes quotes from Sun Tsu 's "Art of War" in battle to explain his actions and inspire his allies.  He NEVER ignores a plea for help and has made a personal vow to not step across the line of Justice and Vengeance obeying as many of the laws as possible in apprehending criminals.  A true Hero at heart, if a bit angry and frustrated at the daily injustice he sees in the world.  An abused child but trying to work his way through his anger issues and yet protect those who cannot protect themselves.  Very respectful and supportive of the Police as his father was once an honest Investigative Police Detective.

Other Information:
Shawn has taken extensive training in martial arts before his powers and especially now with them ...trying to improve his efficiency as a street vigilante.  The lightning seems to have improved his reaction/reflex time and Shawn's martial skills have far outstripped what he used to be capable of.  Shawn is now ambidextrous.  His Tae Kwon Do - instructor Master Youn Pi Choy has noticed and suspects something has dramatically changed in Shawn.

Dependent NPC's:  Shawn loves his sister... perhaps too much.  He is over protective of Sarah and she rebels against all authority - making it particularly hard on Shawn.  Shawn became a hero to protect his sister from those who would harm her or street kids like her.  Shawn would tear down heaven and smash hell to protect Sarah.  His father... Shawn remembers a time when he was a child when his father was all the things a good father should be... then mom, Carla ‘Holman’ Wests, died{Cancer}... and his father never adjusted to it - lost his badge in the same year.  He knows his father was once a good man... and does not hate him... despite how violent their relationship has turned over the years... he pity's his father and accepts the occasional back-hand to the face knowing dad is hurting inside and doesn't know how to deal with it.  It's not a healthy situation for any of them... but his father refuses to get help.  So Shawn shoulders the responsibility bearing his bruises knowing he must for Sarah.

Ah...LOVE!:  Shawn is in love with the supervillianess... KALI {Shenna Grey, Age 20, WT: 130, HT: 5'8";  Powers: Heightened Expertise: Martial Arts, Special Weapon: Power-chucks, Heightened Defense; Carries Katana and 6 Shuriken}.  She knows Shawn loves her and has used it to her advantage in many of their encounters... but she is not entirely sure if those feelings are not mutual.  She knows she can get over on him... she knows he will not hurt her and will not likely try too hard to stop her from getting away should he run across her involved in a theft her modus-opporandi.  She is an art/artifact martial artist thief.

It all started... when Shawn met her at martial arts tournament, it was a distraction she used to entertain herself while she was in town awaiting an auction that was taking place for some warrior-priestess Egyptian artifacts she planned to steal in Empire City.  They ended up spotting each other during the tournament and Shawn thought she was pretty and obviously highly skilled and he asked her out for lunch with him and his Master - Youn Pi Choy.  She had also seen his fighting prowess and was amused by the young handsome Thunderbolt in his secret ID - Shawn West and agreed.  Well Shawn's master Choy saw that he was the third wheel soon enough during the lunch and found an excuse to leave.  Shawn and Sheena spent the rest of the day together finding they had a lot in common and spent the night together.  For the next few days they saw each other on and off again - Sheena had originally no intention of staying in Empire City longer than it took for her to make her heist and leave but Shawn was a charming distraction.

As fate would have it the night she choose to make the heist Thunderbolt was out following up some street rumors that some big underworld dealers were in town for a art sale on a heist that was going down.  Thunderbolt was present for Kali’s attempted heist and the two battled furiously through the museum.  Thunderbolt …as usual was resistant to throw lightning at a woman martial artist and fought her Katana to Katana trying to subdue her.  Kali realized she could hardly deal with his magnetic control abilities and changed tactics. She caught Thunderbolt off guard with a power blast from her power-chucks that breached his armor and burned his side in reaction his electric body triggered and burned her hands when he parried her Power-chucks with his conductive katana.  The power blast started a fire and knocked a heavy pillar on top of a security guard pinning him and endangering him with burning to death.  Thunderbolt chose to let her go and save the guard.  Her parting words were, “That’s what you get tough guy for hurting a woman!”

Thunderbolt retorted back, “You’d be surprised what you could survive!”

Kali lost her opportunity to steal the objects that evening as with Thunderbolt’s interference the Museum beefed up their security so she decided to steal the objects at the auction right after the sale where there would be a lot of cover she could use to make good her escape by causing a panic.

As it turns out it was a black tie kind of gala fund raiser for charity all the sales going to various relief charities.  Again as fate would have it Shawn’s master Youn Pi Choy was friends with one of the Asian art collectors and bidders for the Egyptian artifacts.  Shawn was pretty sure Kali would try again for the objects and learned his master would be attending the art sale with his friend Cuong Dinh and convinced his master to take him to the party and auction.

While there dressed in a suit and tie Shawn met Sheena also dressed in a slinky red dress and matching long arm gloves.  At first they thought it was fortunate coincidence.  As the gala spun up Sheena dragged Shawn to the dance floor for a final dance figuring she would have plenty of time before the auction was over to get her goods.  Shawn took her hand in his and she flinched from her covered burns from his electric body at the same time she wrapped an arm around his waist to pull him close – right on the spot her power-chucks had scored a hit with her power blast he also flinched.

Sheena commented, “Ouch! Gentle tough guy I burned my hand cooking breakfast!”

Shawn replied, “Ehh! Go easy yourself tigress… I pulled a muscle in the gym this morning…”

Smiling Sheena commented, “Awe, poor baby!  That’s what you get tough guy for hurting a woman!”

Not missing a beat Shawn retorted before he realized what he was saying, “Well sweety - you’d be surprized what you could survive~!!!”

It was at that moment they both looked each other in the eyes…shocked and suddenly realizing who each other was!

In a very poignant moment Sheena said, “Can we finish our dance darling before we start fighting?”

Shawn was too shocked to say anything other, “Uh… ok honey.”

They held each other close unsure what to do and not really wanting to fight…

But the decision was taken from them as apparently the local mob in the city had their own plan for a heist as armed masked men in suits stormed the gala with guns and began robbing everyone and taking the art themselves by force!

Shawn and Sheena looked each other in the eyes and parted each to get into their costume to deal with the attacking thugs.

Shortly Thunderbolt and Kali tore into the thugs each for their own reasons but still they fought side by side not wanting to think about what would happen once the thugs were subdued.

As fate would have it they got separated in the fight and each had to deal with the thugs in their own way.
When the fight was over Thunderbolt was seeing to the innocent bystanders getting them safely away.

Thunderbolt and Kali meat one last time as he re-entered the museum to make sure he got all the thugs.  Kali had a collected a piece or two of art she was stealing and Thunderbolt confronted her, “Don’t do this Sheena!”

She smiled,”Do what Shawn?  The museum already has the cash for this from the auction… I’m just turning it over to a new owner… for a not-so-small 'finder's fee'!”

Shawn felt his heart breaking, “Don’t make me do this… what about … us?”

She paused, “Don’t worry lover… I’ll be in touch!”

Sheena blew him a kiss and winked then slipped through a sky light and made good her escape in the confusion…

Shawn didn’t have the heart to stop her.

Regular Life:  Shawn works as a mechanic at “Tony’s Cycles & Scooter Repair”... he dreamed of someday racing the Motocross Racing circuit professionally.  He owns his own finely tuned dirt-bike that he races the occasional amateur heats he can afford to enter... hoping to get a sponsor's attention.

Then... he became a vigilante... things seem so different now... he is not entirely sure what to do with his dreams anymore.

Weapons/Equipment:

Weaknesses:
Vulnerability (Cold – Slows down the ambient particles of matter around her hindering and potentially cancelling her powers
completely.}

Phobia (Claustraphobic }

Secret Weakness:  Vulnerability (Heat-based Attacks)  = Unknown to Sarah hot environments and heat-based attacks directed against her can cause her vibratory powers to increase as molecular reaction around her is sped up multiplying her powers out of all control!  Treat as Lack of Self-Control.

Appearance:
Hair: Once long and permed Auburn Brown (Now Pure White and straight, no perm needed, worn long and wild)
Eyes: Hazel (Dark Green/Aqua ‘blue/green’ when angry)
Ethnicity:  Black American - mixed (Mother was Caucasian, Father is Black American)
Skin:  Light Brown

Quote:   "…you’re starting to bore me."

Costume:
Sarah as Shockwave does not wear a costume per se.  But the Black and Green fully enclosing designer Scuba suit is the closest she comes to a ‘costume’.  Wrist bracelets with Osmium Tuning forks.

Origin/Background:
Sarah is not a superhero.  She is a genus level intelligence and figured out her brother Shawn’s superhero identity as Thunderbolt almost immediately.  She plays a very successful game of teenage fluff-head… flirting and seemingly only concerned about the next party or skipping classes in school.  It is ALL an act!  There is NOTHING that Sarah does not do for a purpose… she is a schemer and a master strategist and manipulator.  She has concealed her hyper intelligence from her brother as well as her super powers.  She is NOT a villain, but she does not see anything wrong with taking advantage of the gifts she has to get her way.  She is… part shocked and part impressed with her brother’s gullible naivety to think one man can change the world for the better by risking his life for people he does not even know.  She is something of a cynic in her world view… she would NEVER go out of her way to risk her life for people she does not know or have some personal stake in.  Sarah does love her brother…even if she thinks he is deluded… she knows he is bright and only figures it will be a matter of time before he comes to her same world view …and then she might consider letting him in on her schemes and plots for fortune and prosperity.  It is not that Sarah is evil… just very self-centered.  Sarah monitors closely her older brother’s activities … and in her own manipulative way tries to protect him from his own misguided philanthropy.  Her power is phenomenal and she uses it very, very discreetly.  She likes seeing how people greatly underestimate her as she charms her way into getting all that she desires.  But she is not one to be trifled with!

Smiley Dude you need to get a blog or something  Smiley

Curious have you worked how a kid that work's at "Tony's' can afford and acquire all that stuff?

He's very detailled and stealing the stuff from the crooks explains the armory, but those bikes and especially hi-tech sensor material in the armor must require a patron of some kind?

I've seen you post that pic before somewhere and it still looks cool. That sucker need colorized Rog.

Well the bikes are partially from Tony's shope, part from restored wrecks from the junk yard.  His Hayabusa GSX1300R, was a rebuild project... took a while from part by part after buying a wrecked one from a junk yard.  He can repair metal objects in a way most would say 'meh you gonna need to replace that whole part... with a brand new one pal!'

Some of his cash comes from the few Motocross Races he has won but a good amount of it comes from the few times he has helped himself to the illegal and quite untraceable cash he has taken from crooks and drug-dealers.

He did get tony to help spring for the Dirt bike as a motocross patron... plus it was good Advertizement for the store.  He knows Shawn is great on the bikes so he figured he'd take a chance.  I know its obscure but I did post at the Protector's blog a 'Night at Work'  with Shawn alone in the shop showcasing how he uses his magnetic control to make repairs and rebuild bike and scooters so fast he's called a miracle worker by Tony - who can't understand how one guy can do the work of a whole shop of mechanics in one night by himself... but sure don't want to look the gift horse in the mouth as it were.  Shawn is always coming in late which pisses Tony off... but he can't argue that the kid is his best mechanic... who can do things with bikes that is nothing short of phenomenal!!

As for the Sensor array in his armor .. its not really a high tech device.  Its a focus for his own magnetic powers.  If he did not have the power to control magnetism... he could not use it.  It was a trail and error thing he found he could detect magnetic fields about him and with practice he found with the specially manufactured mesh within his armor he could specifically feel the shifting magnetic lines of force around him with pin-point accuracy.  Its possible he could learn to do that without his mesh in his armor... but he has not learned how to do so thus far.

To anyone else its just pointless metal wires.  Even someone else with Magnetic control would have to learn to use it properly.  Or even figure out what its for or can allow them to do first.

There is no actual Radar display or powered sensor in his armor.  TB is the sensor... the Armor just allows him to ease of differentiating what he detects.

Cool Cool, I have to admit I lost track some where after "very fine conductive non-ferrous metal weave is woven into the inside of the armor". Sounds like you and a gadgeteer would make an interesting duo.  Cool

Hope things workout that Doug and I (John), can join you all soon.  Wink

OH Yeah its been my chomping at the bit desire to get a chance to actually sit-down in-character as Thunderbolt with one of the other Gadgeteers... like Machinesmith or Diesel and talk shop!

im an impartial observer, but (with all due Lulz and smileys) you certainly have a shload of swords n guns n redundant gear for an Energy Blaster. I mean, honestly, theres so much equipment that it looks like a RIFTS character sheet lol

Smiley Always someone who wants to pigeon-hole a character into one category.  I don't really think in that terms.  Thunderbolt is not a blaster.  He's a superhero.  1x Sword, 1x gun, 9x shuriken, 2x Kygetsu-Shoge 'chain and hook flail weapons', and 6x metal discus are not an arsenal of lethal weapons!  They are not redundant as he can manipulate all their weight at once for multiple tasks and applications at once... given time and opportunity.  They provide a wealth of options for his magnetic control many times these metal implements are used as simple tools.  If there is nothing metal to manipulate near him or its just not sturdy enough for the force he could apply {trash can tops are not very hard mind you...} he would have limited use of his magnetic powers in many cases - especially if there is no metal around to manipulate.

It also keeps the property damage to a minimum he can wrap a foe up in his Kyogetsu-Shoge cable and not tear power-lines off poles for that and its reusable!

He does realize that his Lightning powers are VERY lethal.. and having an array of weapons that do far less damage is something worthwhile.  Plus throw him into water and his lightning is useless.. and he knows this.

Plus his powers rolled randomly make hims something of a martial artist so I ran with it.

In the Protectors story blog... Thunderbolt has been in 3? battles... an only in one of them did he actually fire a lightning bolt in combat - and even then not at a person.

Again, I don't use general descriptions to define a character role.. they seem to me to be needlessly narrow... and short-sighted, but if I must put a 'role' to TB he's a Controller.

He uses his powers to subdue and remove a enemies ability to attack effectively.  In a team role he uses his 'arsenal' of metal items to assist team members to take down foes with a little force as possible.

He has not been pushed in battle to loose his temper as yet by Dsummer... so cutting loose on someone has not happened yet.  He is a cop's son... and very proud of his father's work as a detective...so he does not want to break the law or be guilty of using excessive force.

Though no one has as yet threatened his family and angered him enough to... 'take the kid gloves off', as it were.

heh! wasnt trying to "pigeonhole" him... but thats his primary offensive superpower. A weapon or two or even three is fine, but this seems excessive, especially considering the REST of his equipment, which doesnt really fit his teen background.

plus how did he learn how to use and maintain all of that equipment? mechanical parts are one thing to fabricate and repair, electronics are another story

Here's an excerpt from the PROTECTORS Blog..."Gathering of Warriors"..

... and yes I'd love to have it colorized... but my artist is... finicky. Smiley

"Shawn came into work... late. As usual, after the cycle shop had closed for the day, around about 6PM. Shawn had arrived at 7PM, Tony as usual left him a nasty little message...

[Hey Kid! Ya killing me you know that right?!? Work schedules are NOT negotiable! Don't know how you get all the stuff done after the shop is closed without anyone else around to help but you really burning my balls on this!!! If you was not so good youse be looking for a new job! Anyways... you gots two 'Honda' cylinder jobs and a head gasket that needs replacing, a 'Goldwing' that needs a complete drive-train rebuild and three fuel pumps that need rebuild. You know the drill - do your miracle and keep your job! Now be into work tomorrow on time!!!]

Shawn smiled, the usual message...

Checking around in the shop Shawn made sure the workshop's doors and windows were all secure, windows covered and no outside observation possible. Even scanned around with his radar sense and lightning control for any operating tracers or electronic surveillance devices... just to be sure.

Shawn takes off his leather racing jacket draping it over his 'pride and joy', a silver and maroon Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R as he moves over to the work-order board looking over the workload that would take three mechanics at least two day to complete. He sighs and smiles... "Tony is testing me again."

Moving around the shop Shawn gathers the parts and tools he ...would need for the job lubricants and tolerance measure rules for the various repairs jobs.

All the parts gathered, the mechanics manuals open, and the machine before him he's ready to begin.

Shawn looks over at the Workshop CD player and gestures electric control turning it on , and ACDC's 'Back in Black' begins pounding out its music getting him into the mood ...

Stretching out his magnetic will parts and tool s begin to levitate ad move in a graceful dance of precision control and purpose. The parts and machines float in the air lofted by his powers in a order pattern like aerial ballet. Like a explosion diagram in motion the machines and parts float and move to Shawn's directed will as he works far faster than any human mechanic could EVER compete with. He does not need tools.. bolts and screws simply move of their own volition driven by his magnetic will floating in perfect precision in step with the rock music blaring in the background. Oilcans and lubricant is applied and parts that are not ferrous are moved with levitated pliers into position and locked down. Shawn is precise in his applied pressure setting tolerances and torque all by 'feel'. This is not work... its art!"

Ok.  Thunderbolt updated to 2nd level in the previous post.

Changes in Bold-Green.

For his level training TB is going into Education: Electronics.  Wants to pick up a new skill.

At the moment, I'm working on the template for a slightly reworked character sheet, which I hope to have posted by tomorrow evening. On Monday, I'll be sending out a summary of events, that I hope will bring everyone up to speed on what's been going on, and give you guys a jumping off point. Once you get it, let me know if you've got any questions, concerns, or comments.

OK gents, the template for the new character sheet is posted (the first post in this topic). I've played around with the stat lay out. Basic characteristics (STR, END, etc.) are listed in a box, with three boxes following them. The first box is for the actual score; the second is for the stat's hit mod; and the final box is where any skill/save bonus is listed. I'll post an example of a filled out sheet in a bit, so you can get a better idea. Until then, look it over, and let me know what you think.

OK gents, I did up Cougar's character, the Machinist in the new format. The primary question I'm getting is for an explanation of the stat block. If you look at it, you'll see the stat (STR, END, AGL, etc.) with three blocks horizontal to it. The first block lists the character's raw score. In this case a 15. The next block lists the Hit Point Modifier, a 1.8, the third block lists the skill modifier, for the revised skill system I'm implementing, (I'll post it in a bit). Hopefully I'm not confusing anyone. If I am, please let me know.

I'm interested to hear how you came with the basic characteristic break levels for the skill bonuses and penalties. I can't seem to figure out their pattern based on anything in the 2.1 book.

Cool

thunderbolt- a few thots. 1st off, a 1 lb IRON discus is going to be about the size of your shuriken. A wooden or composite discus w a metal edge would still be like 5lbs minimum. (i threw discus four years varsity. only sport i was worth a shit at.)

but yeah, a solid Iron regulation discus would be around 12 lbs, maybe as low as 8 or as much as 16. (like a flattened shotput). also, if you have crazy long shock white hair, maybe keeping it concealed under mask would help protect your secret ID.

his sheet said he has 6 "1 lb iron discus (sp)". i was just noting that an IRON discus would be either tiny and 1 lb or regulation size and much heavier, thats all. I used to throw em a lot lol

I believe the description in his armory list them as attached to epaulets and shin guards. I'd guess tiny like an oversized silver dollar.  With his electrical and magnetic blasting ability I'm sure he has something in mind other than doing damage. I trust Dom and he have or will have worked out there uses.

It's the ability to control and manipulate anything electrical with a simple d20 roll vs Int and Agi that are his deadliest powers IMO. I don't think that special effect could take into account the leaps in technology that have occurred since Jeff and Jack wrote the original 2.0 rule set Undecided

I should know I recently played a character with those abilities  Cheesy
