Why was I chosen to be one of the newest members to undergo “The Process”? Simple. Power. Political Power and Money. My father is John Aaronson,  yes, Senator John Aaronson. Aspiring to The Whitehouse and having a Meta Son on the Bandwagon can do quite a bit to further your political aspirations. 

  I was given a position as a Lobbyist working the Fossil Fuel Package Bill across the United States. Basically a Bill intended to continue to pillage The Earth for even more natural resources disguised as a long term reduction of Fossil Fuels. It was a joke but then again so was I.

  My father was able to get me a nomination for The Process and after greasing a few more palms I was accepted into C.H.E.S.S.. Oh, how the Mighty have fallen but I digress. Nine months we spent in training and testing. I think I spent more time on the Psychiatrist couch than I did in any training rooms or classes. Looking back now I think I can understand why.

  When it finally came time to be introduced into The Process there were only five of us. We were all taken to sub basements and what I would almost call Catacombs of The Black Mesa. We had never been to these sections. The Mesa was vast. The underground tunnels were beyond imagining.

  We were placed in the metal chambers, I called them Cocoons. No one laughed. The clinicians hooked us all up to multiple IV’s, Electrodes, Catheters and other things I cannot tell you what their function may have been. We all knew we would be under for three days and emerge as ‘Something Else, Something More.

  I Slept. I Dreamt.

  I walk across a lush plain of knee high grass and gaze at towering mountains as they reached towards a mammoth azure sky. My eyes scan the horizon and in the distance I can see a forest glade and a figure before it. Too far for my limited sight but in dreams all things are possible.  Surging forward at impossible speeds I reach Her in the blink of an eye. The Earth in all Its splendor was breath taking. She is The Earth Mother, She is Gaia and she is beyond contemplation. I remember. Remember those things which I had done. The nights over drinks and bribes where I silver tongued those others to assist me in pillaging Beloved Mother Earth. I am ashamed. I drop to my knees and weep for all that I have done.

  She reaches out and touches me and I think this will be my last moment. In some ways it truly was. The earth itself comes to life and envelops me. I think for a moment that I will be crushed by rock and root but I am encased if a warm dark loam and I am redeemed. The shell of earth breaks away and I am changed. No longer am I Guy Aaronson. I am something else. I am an Elemental Thing and I rejoice for it.

  Skin becomes like stone yet I still can feel the soft breezes across my face. Again I look up and Gaia is no longer alone. A Sylph hovers next to her and she smiles. She leans down and whispers a secret in my ear. Her Secret is her name. I may call upon Her power when needed and she will release the West Wind through me but I must never speak Her name to Mortals. It is our secret. Our pact.

  For time un imaginable I am shown the Beauty of Earth but it is a Dream and even here time has its limits.

  I awake and I have returned to The Cocoon. I escape with new found strength and emerge as something else.

  It is dark. It is cold. I am not afraid.

   I am Golem.
