It's still up an running. Specific replies will go to the blog. Overviews of gaming sessions will go here, as well as general campaign info, and entries to the "Source Book".

Now that things have settled down a bit, I can actually get back to posting info to this section. The plan is for me to get caught up on the stuff I'd been working on, get the game back on track (as we were just starting to move along at a good pace), and then continue to work on the background.
If any of you guys (ladies?) have questions, or comments, feel free to post them. If it's about a specific character, I'm sure the players wouldn't mind answering your questions.

I would like to ask how the mechanics of this is going?   I never did play by email so I am curious.

Does everyone feel satisified with this type of play?   Is there a level of tension, suspence?   Do you do one action a week? Or a whole "scene"?   Forgive me if I am asking questions that have been already answered.

Well I'm sure everyone involved would love to get together for a real life game, but do to distance, time, and work schedules, we have to be satisfied with this. As far as satisfaction goes, I'll let the others chime in as they see fit.

For me, I've been a little frustrated that I can't spend as much time as I'd like to, as I'd like to get a least one regular turn in every couple of days (swing over to the blog to see how things have been going), but the goal is to tun a full adventure every couple of months. How that'll actually work out is yet to be seen.

Mechanics wise, I'm not sweating thing like power usage and movement, unless there's actual combat involved. At the moment, I'm concentrating on moving the plotline along, and getting these guys together. Once I have specific need to start tracking HP, Power, movement, etc. I'll list their current status, and track it on a spreadsheet, so everyone's on the same sheet of music. I'll also handle things like rolls to hit, etc (I've got a dice rolling program to take care of that for me). I hope that answers your questions.

So you do something on the order of one full V&V turn per two or three days?   And how many emails would that one turn require on average?

It varies, depending on the number of actions each player is trying to perform, any questions they have, and the actions of NPCs involved. It can get a little hectic. My hat's off to Dr. Foom, as he's currently got 8 players, several NPCs, and full on villain team, and he's been doing this for years.

I am loving it.

I get to spend anywhere from 2 hours to a day or two to respond (no combat yet).  I am getting a lot of roleplaying and skill usage.  I have used my powers a few times as well.

For me, it is great.  My family schedule doesn't allow me to make to commit to a set day of the week or every other week.

This is perfect for me.

V&V character creation is too much fun.

It is in the email or blog posting. - All Players can read each others input to the GM.

Here is Player writing about contacting another Player

The Machinist to Silver Star using his COM:  "Silver Suit can you fly?  I have found 2 unconscious people on above the fire in the building.  Can you get to them?

Player informing the GM how he wants to contact a Player

SilverStar waves to Jack Frost, "Hey! I need your help!".

When Jack gets close, Marcus will explain quickly, "Looks like there are people unconscious on top of the building, Bring me up there. I'm Silver Star"

or Player writing actions to GM including possible conversations.
Jack Frost flew down to the White Knight. "I'm Jack," he said as he grabbed Silver Star's wrist and rode the north wind straight up to the top of the flaming iron spire! ZOOOM!
He'll wave greetings to Power Chord if he sees him, but can't carry two people.
Nor can the antiquated elemental hear the technological entreaties of the Machinist.

So far the different methods are working fine.

I usually reply to all on the emails, unless I have OOC questions/real life stuff.  I've connected with most of the other players in that manner, and feel we're connecting very well.

It has been a lot of fun, and brought a lot of the old excitement back, coming up with a character concept that not only worked, but worked with this team, developing the background/character/group.

I think we've got a solid base, let the adventures begin...

OK gents, I've been sick for the last few days (including a trip to the hospital emergency room), but I'm back up and running (or at least up and moving around), and I'll be updating the blog and everyone's status.

Yeah, I ended up taking close to 3 liters of IV solution (two 500ml bags while being transported to the ER), and 2 liters of Lactated Rings in the ER), so lets just say I've had better days.

But on to the fun stuff. I should have the updates and email replies posted by lunch time, and I'd like to get everyone's replies by the weekend.

Hi Dominique.

You posted your summary on the previous blog and Dave replied on that one so now there is a little confusion as to where to post. (At first I thought everything was missing!)

Can you move those posts to the correct place?

OK, the initial posts for Stalker's solo adventure is up, along with an update on everyone's status. Once I get the last few replies, I'll move things along. Also, if anyone has any questions, let me know.

True, but your battle in the maze certainly reminds me of a batman movie, very cool!

I like the effects too, glowing eyes, very ominous.  I can't wait to see your character drawings...

If I remember correctly in Batman Year 1, he actually had a worse time at it than Stalker is having right now.

Stalker is way cool!

I love how you decided to start him off low powered, so he could grow!  It will make for some great gaming memories.

As far as actual "news" goes, I post tidbits of info as "new briefs, headlines, etc. as I need them. When I do, I shoot out emails to the group. As all of the events that have occurred so far, have transpired on the same day, I have posted any new news in a while. But, trust me when I say more are coming, as I've worked out the next to major story lines, once this one wraps up. And it won't be much longer until the big bad is revealed.

I am on vacation wit the Family from today until June23.  So I won't be posting until then.

DSumner, For the Machinist have him investigate the Dagger until it is time for the BSI meeting.  You can move the storyline to the point fo the meeting.  The Machinist will share all is information in the meeting.

I don't have a problem with telling the Machinist actions in the story until I get back.  That way it won't be on hold for the others.

Thanks
Tom

I must admit ... I got NO IDEA where these 'new posts' are being posted...

This... http://empirecitysprotectors.blogspot.com/
...Is where I'm looking and have seen no new posts listed here.  May is the last month ANYTHING was done ... and only with Stalker in the shipping yard...

Could someone tell me where these new posts are supposed to be?

You want to go to March and click on it.  The click on The Gathering.  Page down to the bottom and click on Newest.

Then go to the bottom again and you will see the most recent comment.  You can add your own then

V&V character creation is too much fun.

Ok... March... got it... Thanks I feel stupid.

EDIT:  Ok... got a question... does the blog automatically put you to the oldest post first as opposed to the most current post first?

EDIT 2:  Also... are we now subscribed to the Blog... or must we do that ourselves?

New updates will be posted by tomorrow evening, giving you plenty of time to respond over the weekend. Also, if I get my act together, the Dragon will be making his appearance next week. So stay tuned.

The posts are in the comments section of each post.

The top two are the "active" storylines.

Hey ...where's the Game Master - dsummer?  Is he on vacation or something?  I introduced my character and have gotten no response...at all?  Have I missed something or are we waiting on something?

I think like most of us, he just gets busy. I'd be patient.
The GM clearly cares about the game so I'm guessing he doesn't want to rush it.

As an aside, have you combed through all of the information about Empire City?

It's a nice background.

I'm here, just been a little busy, the last few days. I work a 12.5 hour shift, with a 45 minute ride each way. Plus I rotate shifts every 28 days. And the Police department is taking over our Warrant Bureau, Booking, and several other functions. we've been performing, so we're trying to get them up to speed, so things have been a little hectic. But not to fear, I'll be updating in a few hours.

Sorry for the delay guys, I ended getting a virus (some crap called "Antivir Solutions Pro" on my computer, and it took me close to two days to kill it, and remove it (I had to reboot in safe mode, run my anti-virus software, and then restore the computer). The damn thing was a real bitch to kill, and it shuts down most MS programs (like windows, Internet Explorer, MS Word, etc., and blocks anti-virus software. It will only allow programs that it wants to run to run. But I'm up and running, and got replies posted to the blog.

I'm waiting on an interaction post with the Cops and BSI Agents at the Dock before I post again... T-Bolt is ready to leave the scene.  But I do not want to cut Dsummer of...by leaving abruptly.

Okay gents, I'm here to offer a formal apology to you guys, as I've been slacking. The week before last I was just running behind (a little busy at work, and with stuff for the National guard), but this last week or so, I've been bummed out about V&V, and haven't felt like really doing any GMing.
Because of that, I've been blowing off updating the blog, and instead of letting you guys know about it, I've left you hanging, and that was wrong of me. I hope you guys understand, and except my apology.

I'll be updating posts at some point this weekend. T-Bolt, and Stalker, you guys will be worked into the storyline with Slik and Diesel very shortly. Once that adventure and the story at ECU wrap up, all of you will be meeting up (and yes I do have a plan on how to do that). So, please bare with me. And once again, I'd like to apologize for the slow pace the last few weeks.

Yeah... don't let my eagerness bum you out... I'm just anxious to get to interacting with the party.  We are all mortal here...with ups and downs... I know.. I've run games for years at a time... and I know you can get a little burned out occasionally.

My interest in getting to the other players is that once we met in earnest RP'ing can begin and you will not have to worry about posting so much as the players will be reacting off of each other.

I've learned from my GMing that the BEST stories are introduced by the players and the RP they create.

In either case.. I'm also having a MAJOR blast playing Thunderbolt.. and I really appreciate the freedom you have given me in my posting details!

I await your posts with an---ti----si--------------pation! Smiley

No problem here either D. I have recently started a game that is sit down/on line blue book and have taken your formula. i.e.: I have a whole section of the forum devoted to the city, its history, layout, who's who. So I can relate. I can only imagine how much time you put into it since I know it was a lot for me. And thanks to Cougar for the helmet for the city's NFL team. I enjoy the game a lot and have even added Stalker in the background for one of the players.(they don't know if he is villain or hero. And honestly I have yet to decide)

Sorry, I've been busy, and my mother had a stroke, so I've been dealing with that. Once things slow down a bit, I'll be posting more.

OH Man!! Your mother had a stroke!!! Is she ok... stable?  Best of wishes for your mother. I know how ... stressful that can be... I have had family and friends that have gone through the same.  It really is hard to deal with.  I COMPLETELY understand... take care of your mother man!

We're hoping she'll be released from the hospital early next week. But she'll have to have nurse stay with her full time for the first week or so, then someone will come over to for a few hours a days, and to take her to physical therapy. As far as the game goes, I was tied up with the National Guard last week (got home Sunday night), and my mother had the stroke on Tue, so I haven't been feeling to creative. I may do a little something this weekend, as I need to try to relax. and wind down a bit.

A comment... I really wish there was a better way to edit your posts at the Blog.  Its so...clunky!  To change something I have to delete it and it leaves a marker that annoying indicating you have removed a post.  So messy!  Can anything be done about that?

I'll see what I can do about cleaning up the blog, and get back to you. Slik and Diesel, I'll have updated character sheets posted for you by Monday (to reflect your recent fight with Nemesis). As for the rest of you guys, I should have new posts up later today. I've got my kids this weekend, and I've been spending time with them.

You'll be hooking up with Stalker, as well as a few others, in a bit. As all of you will be running into each other while dealing with where all the Boost on the streets is coming from.

Am I just spinning my wheels?  Should I have T-Bolt just go work and wait for the action to come his way? I'm not really sure where  I'm supposed to be or what I'm supposed to be doing.

I tried opening a conversation with his sis... you derailed that.
I tried hunting down the assassin Nemesis... you road blocked that.
I tired helping the police... you sabotaged that. Smiley

Am I missing an obvious plot-hook?

You were on the right track by listening in on the Police stake out. I'll throw you a bone, and suggest you follow the two guys high tailing out of the apartment building. And as far as Nemesis goes, trust me, he'll be back, just not right now.  Lips Sealed

Sorry about the slow pace, but I've only been homw one day since last week, and I spent most of that day playing catch up. Other than than, I've been working 14-18 hours a day, and my National Guard unit got called out Christmas night, so I spent the the last few days there (that's after working 12.5 hours on the 24th and Christmas Day). Once I get some down time this weekend (I'm at work now, but I'm taking a brake to eat), I'll get things rolling again.

I was running full tilt for roughly two weeks. I worked 12.5 hours on the 24th, and 25th, then to cap it off, as soon as I left work, I had to go into my National Guard unit for the next three days because of a snow storm. I'm finally getting caught up on a few things, and managing to get some much needed sleep.

OK gents, between me fighting a cold from hell, work, and my computer acting like it's possessed (I'm about ready to drop kick it), I'm finally getting things rolling again. Hopefully real life will allow me to get things moving at a decent speed again. I also need to update a couple of character sheets, and get some new character sketches commissioned. Either way, new replies are up.

Hey Dsummer, thanks for the action edit... I'm real sorry.. I'm really only familiar with champions. I really do not mean to use overkill attacks on the normals. I've actually NEVER played sit-down V&V...so I have NO CLUE how lethal some things are... Thank you for keeping that in mind...Shawn is supposed to be a hero.  I'll use more discretion in future posts! Smiley

No worries, I try to help out where I can. Now with the security guy's boss, lets just say he can take a few bumps.

Hey Dsummer, you might want to re-read Thunderbolt's last post and your intro of Anvil after Thunderbolt subdued the Bouncers.  Thunderbolt identified himself immediately to Anvil, and Anvil never asked who he was... so his saying, "I'll ask you again...", seems like something was missed in the translation... I don't know if you have the authority to  delete or edit a post you have made... but I'm not really sure how to answer in anyway that will not be impertinent or seem like Anvil is a moron.  I don't really want Thunderbolt to come across as a name-calling punk with too much power... he's more respectful, classy and professional than that.  Especially when its obvious the GM missed something in the last post.

Should I just ignore him and proceed on as if he didn't ask?

Let's just say he can take a little more damage than the guys you've dealt with so far. Plus you should be running into some of your fellow players in the very near future, and you guys are going to need to work together to deal with groups, and their hired muscle, responsible for getting Boost out onto the streets or Empire City

I thought I would post here instead of asking it on the Blog.

I am a little lost in the Machinist is from Hawk and Jack.  Can I see all that is happening through the window because they are in the room the window is attached to or they several rooms away.

Is Power Chord, Agent Woo, and the Machinist closest to Jack and Hawk or the cultists.

Is there any visual clues that he has seen so far that would suggest that Hawk and Jack can't handle these cultists?

Can we tell if these were idle cultists so the time pressure is still the same or has things changed because they are having to react to Jack and Hawk entering the house?

Can Machisit see the Wizard anywhere through the windows he is looking through?

Thanks

V&V character creation is too much fun.

Sorry for my lack of presence here on these boards. Things have been hectic. I am running a table top game once a month as well as a posting forum for the game. My wife was on vacation so I spent a good deal of time with her and the kids and to top it off, the water heater went out the day before her vacation started. Tax returns came back, and have spent a few days getting new furniture thanks for the patience

No worries, reply when you can. I've been having some problems with my computer, for about a week now, so I'm running a little behind on things anyway.

Dsummer, I'm pretty much done with Thunderbolt's activities until; I get a prompt or somesuch.  Its approaching a year since I started and I'm still not with the rest of the party so I'll leave it to you to intro when its convenient.

Got a question... I've never actually played a sit-down game of V&V so I'm unclear on how far I can go with electrical control - specifically its machine control abilities.  I do not want to post something and be told No you can't do that.  I'd rather not look stupid if avoidable! Smiley

I only have the Villains and Vigilantes - Superhero Role Play softback booklet written by Jeff Dee & Jack Herman, Illustrated by Jeff Dee from Fantasy Games Unlimited, Inc - copyright 1982... not even a ISBN number on it!

So if TB can control machines... is there no reason he cannot follow through with his - not lightly given threat to Mr. Leonetti's thug Anvil and plague Mr. Leonetti's electronic back records with irregularities that set off IRS auditing flags and just plain wipe, transfer or donate to charities the bulk of any 'official' wealth he has in any computer?  I'm talking about not only moving electronic wealth but canceling credit cards, filling up his credit record with bad mark labeling him a 'credit risk', suspending his driver's license, charging HUGE long-distance fees to his phone bills, disconecting his power as their records list him as late in his payments {thunderbolt does not care if Mr. Leonetti has phones or power turned off his electrical control makes reliance on such things unnecessary TB can provide power and connection himself} etc... all matter of electronic harassment and mischief that anyone who has ever had such problems knows is waaaay more troubling than just simple harassment.  If that does not get Mr. Leonetti's attention and make him take notice TB goes after his henchmen's records as well putting arrest warrants out for them electronically, wiping their bank accounts ...until the message is clearly understood... THUNDERBOLT will RUIN him if he does not STOP pushing Boost on the streets!!!

Thunderbolt will continue to knock over drug deals and shipments he gets ear of but its now a VERY personal war and he is widening the lines of the conflict to Mr. Leonetti and his cronies.

As far as I can tell there is no other power in the V&V rules that can do this... Mind Control is against characters or... sentient machines like A.I.s.

I know there are a myriad or ways to have wealth that is not 'officially' on the books ...but the government watchdogs are looking for such 'backdoors' as well and most of them are shady at best and set off flags of IRS and Government agencies ...that I'm sure Mr. Leonetti will NOT want them looking at on any regular basis!  The point is to make the cost of 'doing business' so high that it is no longer profitable.

Is there any reason Thunderbolt cannot do this with the powers at his disposal?  I didn't want to go and post something like this if it was not within the scope of his abilities... its seems to be so in my opinion but you're more familiar with the game than me.

Its just fine with me if we leave it at TB is making a REAL Hassle of himself to Mr. Leonetti and his cronies and they have a HUGE $2 Million bounty on his head - wanted D.E.A.D. in no terms mired in subtlety!

Actually all of the above are good ideas, and I'll see how you can work it so it can be played out in the game, but I might take a bit, as I'm still a bit strapped for time. As far as meeting other supers, that's going to happen this weekend. You're going to be bumping into at least to other heroes who've been keeping an eye on Mr. Leonetti's activities.

Sorry,

I dropped off for a while as well. I was busy preparing and running some Savage Worlds games at GenghisCon here in Denver.

I know I left hanging the action for my character, but I must say that I've never been (good at being) a "solo" player, and I'm certainly not very good at detective work, so it's hard to jump back into character.

I haven't even had a chance to go read the blogs recently, so I'm not sure if the story has advanced beyond where Diesel would be or not.

Just wanted to post a not to say that I hadn't completely disappeared, just being quiet and wondering if I could/should jump in again.

- Marc

Wonderful storylines!  I am having a blast.

I do want to talk about the gadgeting power.  When we started the game you mentioned that you had just created the power and wanted to playtest it.  I having really enjoyed the playtesting but I am wanting to make sure I am testing it well enough.

I know I have not tried anything exotic yet. My goal is not to make power creation a requirement for the GM.  So I have been purposefully limited myself to a V&V device (powers list) or a real life item (tear gas, concussion, or stun) that is easy for the GM to create stats for.

Is this meeting what you are wanting to do with the playtesting?

In the playtesting I am finding that I like some gadgets so much, like the goggles, that I want to make them permanent and get them off my limit of 5 devices at a time.  I was thinking about using invention points to do this.

I know I used the invention point rules to create the comm devices but I was wondering if I could declare after the fact to make something permanent.

Right now the inventions I would want are:
1. Communication Devices (Protectors)
2. Goggles (LED readout display with connected computers)

Thanks
Tom

V&V character creation is too much fun.

Also have you had a chance to look at Thunderbolt's/Shawn's sister ... Shockwave/Sarah?

Hey Dsummer's here is the history of how Thunderbolt met Kali.  I would have liked to choose a different female villainous interest but I do not own any other sources of V&V villains.

Anyways Kali is sort of hunting Thunderbolt as she knows he's in love with her.  Not because she necessarily wants him but because she knows she can get over on him... she knows he will not hurt her and will not likely try too hard to stop her from getting away should he run across her involved in a theft her modus-opporandi.  She is an art/artifact martial artist thief.

Thunderbolt met her at martial arts tournament, it was a distraction she used to entertain herself while she was in town awaiting an auction that was taking place for some warrior-priestess Egyptian artifacts she planned to steal in Empire City.  Well they ended up spotting each other during the tournament and Shawn thought she was pretty and obviously highly skilled and he asked her out for lunch with him and his Master - Youn Pi Choy.  She had also seen his fighting prowess and was amused by the young handsome Thunderbolt in his secret ID - Shawn West and agreed.  Well Shawn's master Choy saw that he was the third wheel soon enough during the lunch and found an excuse to leave.  Shawn and Sheena spent the rest of the day together finding they had a lot in common and spent the night together.  For the next few days they saw each other on and off again - Sheena had originally no intention of staying in Empire City longer than it took for her to make her heist and leave but Shawn was a charming distraction.

As fate would have it the night she choose to make the heist Thunderbolt was out following up some street rumors that some big underworld dealers were in town for a art sale on a heist that was going down.  Well Thunderbolt was present for Kali’s attempted heist and the two battled furiously through the museum.  Thunderbolt …as usual was resistant to throw lightning at a woman martial artist and fought her Katana to katana trying to subdue her.  Kali realized she could hardly deal with his magnetic control abilities and changed tactics. She caught Thunderbolt off guard with a power blast from her power-chucks that breached his armor and burned his side in reaction his electric body triggered and burned her hands when he parried her Power-chucks with his conductive katana.  The power blast started a fire and knocked a heavy pillar on top of a security guard pinning him and endangering him with burning to death.  Thunderbolt chose to let her go and save the guard.  Her parting words were, “That’s what you get tough guy for hurting a woman!”

Thunderbolt retorted back, “You’d be surprised what you could survive!”

Kali lost her opportunity to steal the objects that evening as with Thunderbolt’s interference the Museum beefed up their security so she decided to steal the objects at the auction right after the sale where there would be a lot of cover she could use to make good her escape by causing a panic.

As it turns out it was a black tie kind of gala fund raiser for charity all the sales going to various relief charities.  Again as fate would have it Shawn’s master Youn Pi Choy was friends with one of the Asian art collectors and bidders for the Egyptian artifacts.  Shawn was pretty sure Kali would try again for the objects and learned his master would be attending the art sale with his friend Cuong Dinh and convinced his master to take him to the party and auction.

While there dressed in a suit and tie Shawn met Sheena also dressed in a slinky red dress and matching long arm gloves.  At first they thought it was fortunate coincidence.  As the gala spun up Sheena dragged Shawn to the dance floor for a final dance figuring she would have plenty of time before the auction was over to get her goods.  Shawn took her hand in his and she flinched from her covered burns from his electric body at the same time she wrapped an arm around his waist to pull him close – right on the spot her power-chucks had scored a hit with her power blast he also flinched.

Sheena commented, “Ouch! Gentle tough guy I burned my hand cooking breakfast!”

Shawn replied, “Ehh! Go easy yourself tigress… I pulled a muscle in the gym this morning…”

Smiling Sheena commented, “Awe, poor baby!  That’s what you get tough guy for hurting a woman!”

Not missing a beat Shawn retorted before he realized what he was saying, “Well sweety - you’d be amazed at what you could live through~!!!”

It was at that moment they both looked each other in the eyes…shocked and suddenly realizing who each other was!

In a very Batman – Catwoman moment Sheena said, “Can we finish our dance darling before we start fighting?”

Shawn was too shocked to say anything other than, “Uh… ok honey.”

They held each other close unsure what to do and not really wanting to fight…

But the decision was taken from them as apparently the local mob in the city had their own plan for a heist as armed masked men in suits stormed the gala with guns and began robbing everyone and taking the art themselves by force!

Shawn and Sheena looked each other in the eyes and parted each to get into their costume to deal with the attacking thugs.

Shortly Thunderbolt and Kali tore into the thugs each for their own reasons but still they fought side by side not wanting to think about what would happen once the thugs were subdued.

As fate would have it they got separated in the fight and each had to deal with the thugs in their own way.
When the fight was over Thunderbolt was seeing to the innocent bystanders getting them safely away.

Thunderbolt and Kali meat one last time as he re-entered the museum to make sure he got all the thugs.  Kali had a collected a piece or two of art she was stealing and Thunderbolt confronted her, “Don’t do this Sheena!”

She smiled,”Do what Shawn?  The museum already has the cash for this from the auction… I’m just turning it over to a new owner… for a not-so-small fee!”

Shawn felt his heart breaking, “Don’t make me do this… what about … us?”

She paused, “Don’t worry lover… I’ll be in touch!”

Sheena blew him a kiss and winked then slipped through a sky light and made good her escape in the confusion…

Shawn didn’t have the heart to stop her.

Dom,
Before I reply I have a question that needs verification. When you say the villain 'shuts down' my helmet, does that mean just the gaze power or the whole thing? If the second I would be blind without radio and vision and would require a different reply than if i can still 'see' Thanks

I'll be posting several updates later this evening, and early tomorrow morning. Also, once all of the fights are finished up, you guys will be getting a few days of "down time" (in game time) to get yourselves together. So feel free to continue with the various sidebars. But, I do need you guys to figure out amongst yourselves which of these little mysteries you'd like to check out, as you can't be everywhere at once. Also, I'll be updating character sheets, and adding an NPC dependent of T-bolt to the NPC page.

Not to be difficult but I think RONIN will investigate the falling Meteorites, as until Thunderbolt gets some additional reason to suspect the case is something more than a 'simple' homicide... he'll let the "boys in Blue...", the ECPD handle it.

His dad being an ex-cop Shawn has a lot of respect for the police and as superhero really only feels he needs to tackle the stuff they are out of their league in dealing with.

Butting into their mundane investigations all the time is a good way to really annoy them as opposed to gain their respect and trust.

At least that's how he sees it for now...

I love reading about Slik and his inner monologue. It put's me in mind of the Creeper. Was that intentional?

Thats really cool - I thought of Rorschac from Watchers but the instant I read the Creeper it felt even closer. Of course I'm biased as a child of the 70's and 80's Smiley

OK gents, some new replies are up. But, I'm going to be out of town for the next three weeks, so until then, you guys should talk amongst yourselves, and work out how you want to run things. In game time you'll have just over a week of "down time" (as in no major events happening) before you start seeing the news reports. Once you guys have figured out what your plans are, feel free to start posting to the two new posts in the blog. If I can get a decent internet hook up, I'll chime in, if not, I'll update everything when I get back.

Hey all, I won't have e-mail access until at least Jun 12, so don't wait for me.

Okay guys, I've got some sad news, for the past few weeks, I've been working 18-20 hours a day, and there's no break in sight, and I'm having trouble keeping up with my commitments. After giving a lot of thought, I'm sorry to announce, it sucks, but I'm going to have place the game on hiatus, until further notice. I had some fun stuff planned for you guys too, so hopefully I'll actually get a chance to implement those plans, at some point in the future.

I wish I could keep it going, but with my current schedule (My average day begins at 4:30 AM, and ends between 11 PM and Midnight), there's just no way for me to do it. Plus I've had several days where I didn't get to bed at all.

Is it wierd I was enjoying Dom's MiB NPC's alot also?

Cheesy

Ha I knew Hawk would reply first Cool We definitely need to get into a gaming group together.

Definitely going to take abit for Dom to get settled in. I'm sure the internet helps, but even without the rehab and holidays, being out of the country just creates a gap in your life IMO.

I know everytime I came back from an oversea deployment it felt like I was lost for a few months til I  got my feet under me and caught up with everything again.

All the booze probably didn't help much either.  Tongue

When I do get things rolling again, I plan on making a few tweeks, which I will get into later, to hopefully make the game run smoother, and faster. I'm also planning on making use of Jeff,s task resolution system. I'll be emailing everyone sometime in mid Jan explaining the changes.

I don't know that I could be said to have a favorite. Both teams have some pretty cool characters on them. Jack and Stalker post were always interesting, Machinist and Diesel both seemed on the cusp of becoming strong characters, Skyhawk and Power Chord had some pretty cool power sets, really just a lot of good characters all around in my opinion.

As far as me that would depend on a number of factors. If I'm the new guy usually I like to find a niche that the team needs filled but is still fun for me. Theres a number of powers I never played with as a PC. It's different when your a GM. As a GM I'll cheat left and right to make the story exciting for the players, to reward good play or punish bad, but as a PC you live with what you got.

I've never played a Speedster, a Size Changer, and never really invested myself in an Energy Projector (though that might be changing soon). An ocean based character would be cool but there's a reason Aquaman has his reputation Smiley Most likely I'd just roll a set of powers and bounce it back and forth with Dom til it clicked for both of us.

Take it easy Hawk. Have a Happy Holiday buddy  Cool

Yes, it definitely was fun. I enjoyed playing Diesel and would again in a heartbeat. Naw T-bolt wasn't too flashy. It was enjoyable, since I'm not a great writer myself to see others take up the descriptive banner.

Should we take a stab at redoing our skills in line with Jeff's skill set (just to get reacquainted with our characters after all)?

Appreciate that TB. I'd love to play with you guys but I'm sure Dom has plenty of things to do before having chance to invite in a new character

I remain hopeful though.  Enjoy the tweaks he has planned for you guys. I hope he's rode testing some 3.0 ideas

Just so you guys know, I'm going to try and kick the game off again, around the end of may. I'll shoot out a group email ahead of time, to find out exactly who's interested, and then start working things out from there. One additional quick note, I'll be making a few changes to the skills system, as I'm planning on using Jeff Dee's Task resolution tables, and trying to speed the game up a bit.

Ok gents, as I said, I'm hoping to kick the game back off late next month, with sort of a soft re-boot. I'm still playing around with how I'd like to do it. In the next week or so, I'll start reformatting everyone's character sheet, so they're in line with the Task Resolution system.  Until then, feel free to talk amongst yourselves, and work out any issues you think might arise.

So as of right now, I've got  Diesel, Jack Frost, Sky Hawk, and The Machinist for returning players. And tow guys (Majestic & Ranger) who want to jump into any open slots. I'll get with them over the next few weeks to work out the details of their characters.

Until the game kicks back off, I'd suggest you guys read over the Source Book, as it's got background info you may want to look at.

Well since the game closed I have joined 2 other on line games to help fill the void. One of them Ranger is running. I enjoy his style. So if Ranger is in I guess Stalker is back.

OK gent's with that, and the inclusion of Ranger and Majestic, that brings us back up to a total of 8 characters. Once I see the final versions of Ranger and Majestic's character sheets (so I can have them make any changes), things will get rolling again.

Hopefully by the end of the weekend, I'll have an updated set of House Rules to post (I'm working on them now), as well as the revised version of the skills section, and a few new powers for you to choose from. Things like Power Nullification, Pyrokinesis, Postcognition, and a couple I stole from John (namely because I thought they were cool).

And if you haven't looked at the NPC section, I've posted a couple of preview pics of some new characters you guys will be running into in the very near future.

One more note, for Majestic and Ranger. If you guy's haven't registered for the blog, you need to do so to receive email updates, and post your replies.

Well I played around with it. I've followed the site for a couple years. Does this mean I'll be using my Yahoo account. I thought that's what the Hotmail was for.

I apologize I but I dont exaggerate when I say Im internet-challenged.

Hopefully I've got all the tech issues worked out now. Please let me know if you're still not getting emailed replies. If all else fails. I'll go with "Plan B" and post everything here.
